Cette église est considérée comme étant la plus ancienne église anglicane toujours en utilisation dans l'hémisphère occidental. Elle a été érigée au XVIIe siècle.

Une tour lui a été ajoutée en 1713 ainsi que des ailes et l'horloge de la tour en 1815.

L'autel possède toujours sa structure d'origine. Il aurait été construit en 1615.

Included are many of the attractions and hotels in the town such as Ordnance Island (0:10), the statue of Sir George Somers (0:28), the replica of the Deliverance (0:51), the Town Hall and Kings Square (2:05), Old State House (3:15), Bermuda National Trust Museum (3:36), St Peters Church (4:01), St Georges Post Office (4:24), Tucker House Museum (4:28), Somers Wharf (4:40), Old Rectory (4:55), Bermuda Perfumery (5:09), Aunt Neas Inn (5:18), and Unfinished Church (5:23).

The final clips (5:30) show NCLs Norwegian Majesty cruise ship docked in the town.

St Peters church is the oldest Anglican church in the Western Hemisphere - Established in 1612, the church celebrated 400 years in 2012 and was designated, 'Their Majesties Chappell' that year by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip. Somers Garden celebrates the role Sir George Somers played in the establishment of Bermuda as a British Territory.

Anglican Church, St Peter's Church Bermuda

St Peters Church, in the town of St George, dates back to 1612. It is the oldest continually used Anglican Church in the Western hemisphere.

The churchyard contains graves dating back over 300 years, and has a separate area for blacks and free slaves. On the eastern side of the church is the grave of Sir Richard Sharples, the governor assassinated in 1973.

The Unfinished Church St. George Bermuda

Historic Town of St. George, Bermuda

Our walk through the historic Town of St. George, Bermuda, starts on Water Street, a popular shopping and dining area of the old town which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In King's Square we can see the Town Hall with its ducking stool. Crossing to Ordinance Island we discover a replica of the Deliverance. The pilot vessel St. David is also tied up at the island. Next we get a sight of the Spirit of St. George, a catamaran tender that takes Norwegian Cruise Line visitors between the West End Cruise Terminal and the old town. We then proceed to the State House, which was Bermuda's first legislature and dates from 1620. Our stroll takes us to the East end of Water Street and then on to the monument to Admiral Sir George Somers who is responsible for the island's settlement. Our stroll then takes us through the narrow alleys of St. George where we can see the tower of the Catholic Stella Maris Church rising up above the white washed roofs of the charming cottages. We pass the Lili Perfumery and explore more alleys before arriving at St. Peter's Anglican Church. It was established in 1612 and it is the oldest Protestant church in continuous use in the New World. The walk ends in the church yard with its blooms of bougainvillea and fragrant frangipani.

Les ruines gothiques de cette église inachevée éveillent notre curiosité. En fait, les travaux de construction de cette église ont débuté en 1874 lorsque l'église St. Peter's a été lourdement endommagée par une tempête.

Pour différentes raisons et un grave problème de fonds, les travaux de construction ont été retardés. Le toit a été installé en 1897, mais ce fut la dernière activité de construction.

Les travaux de construction ont été abandonnés et l'église, encore inachevée, a subi de lourds dommages en 1926 lorsqu'un fort ouragan a sévi sur l'île.
