St Stephen's Green Park | DUBLIN, IRELAND
St Stephen's Green (Irish: Faiche Stiabhna) is a city centre public park in Dublin, Ireland. The current landscape of the park was designed by William Sheppard. It was officially re-opened to the public on Tuesday, 27 July 1880 by Lord Ardilaun. The park is adjacent to one of Dublin's main shopping streets, Grafton Street, and to a shopping centre named for it, while on its surrounding streets are the offices of a number of public bodies as well as a stop on one of Dublin's Luas tram lines. It is often informally called Stephen's Green. At 22 acres (89,000 m2), it is the largest of the parks in Dublin's main Georgian garden squares. Others include nearby Merrion Square and Fitzwilliam Square.
The park is rectangular, surrounded by streets that once formed major traffic arteries through Dublin city centre, although traffic management changes implemented in 2004 during the course of the Luas works have greatly reduced the volume of traffic. These four bordering streets are called, respectively, St Stephen's Green North, St Stephen's Green South, St Stephen's Green East and St Stephen's Green West.

St. Stephen's Green, Dublin - Ireland is a large city centre park in the centre of Dublin. It was originally opened in 1880 and it is off the main shopping street - Grafton Street and leads into the St. Stephen's Green shopping centre.
Visiting St Stephen's Green would be one of the things to do in Dublin during any visit! It is a great location to meet people for lunch due to the number of hotels and restaurants in the area.
Who out there do not love parks and enjoy walking through them every once in a while? Most probably nobody and that is why even tourists should have a break from all the historical places they are heading to and enjoy some walks across the city or even in those parks which are considered famous there. St. Stephen's Green Park in Dublin is one of these different green spaces that is recommended for all the visitors out there.
The existence of this park passed through two different stages; the first one was the opening of the park to the public which was designed by Lord Ardilaun in 1880 and then it was reopened to the public once again after it was designed by William Sheppard to be the one that is found today.
This park is adjacent to one of the famous streets in Dublin which is called Grafton Street that also happens to be the shopping place for the Dubliners ( This park is referred to in the city in an informal way as Stephen's Green and it is one of the largest parks in Dublin's main Georgian Garden squares, others might include nearby Merrion Square ( and Fitzwilliam square.
There are always some interesting things and facts related to the famous places which make the whole area more significant. In the case of St. Stephen's Green Park, which is rectangular in its shape, the four streets surrounding it are named St. Stephens Green North, South, East and West - so it apparently make the whole place much more significant and well known.
There are different things that differentiate this park, whether the playground that is prepared inside there for kids, the waterfall and Pullham rock work on the western side of the green, the ornamental lake which provides a home for waterfowl, or the garden for the visually impaired; these all make the visit for St. Stephen's Green Park different and give the visitors some ideas about the things which they should check there before leaving.
Visiting this garden of course will also depend on the month that you are visiting it in, in summer there are sometimes concerts held there for the public; so always choose the time of the year which you are going to visit this park in.
St. Stephen's Green Park in Dublin went through lots of stages and events before; the buildings surrounding the park were built in the Georgian style but now there are some other modern buildings which are also surrounding the place. In addition to that, the park was only restricted for local residents until 1877 until the Parliament passed an act to reopen the park for the public, which was later on approved - just as we could easily visit it now and just as the tourists could also visit it anytime.
As much as this park is given that much importance for being a historical and old one, it is also given that much attention for being a green calm area in the middle of a bustling city. The historical part related to this park is shown through some of the figures which are displayed there: such as Arthur Guinness, 1st Baron Ardilaun, the Countess Constance Markievicz, and that comes in addition to other important sculptural monuments which are related to the Irish history.
The history, the greenery area, the facilities and the location of this green space are all giving it much importance and difference, but there are also those birds which consider St. Stephen's Green Park as their home, which are also making it all different and giving tourists things to enjoy while sitting there.
There are other things around this area which one could visit when it comes to Dublin, Ireland, such as walking by River Liffey ( visiting O'Connell Street ( checking that old Guinness Storehouse which is located there ( passing by the campus of Trinity College in Dublin ( or else taking any of the bus tours which will give people the chance to see the whole city (

Located in the very center of Dublin is St. Stephen’s Green, an emerald square chock-full of local history.
In its earliest years, the area that became St. Stephen’s Green was a marsh used by residents of Dublin as a common grazing area. It was walled off in 1664 and had several houses built around it as a sort of central square. This continued for nearly a century, effectively turning St. Stephen’s Green into a park for an early planned community. At this point, since only the very wealthy could afford to live in the houses around the green, to tour St. Stephen’s Green became the privilege of the upper classes.
An act of Parliament opened the park to the public in the late 1800s, and it’s been a popular downtown destination ever since. Since it is adjacent to Grafton Street—one of Dublin’s biggest shopping areas—St. Stephen’s Green is a popular place among locals who stop by to relax after a long day of wandering in and out of shops. You can also do a little sightseeing in St. Stephen’s Green itself. The park is full of sculptures and memorials, and you can easily spend several hours wandering its trails, listening to the chirps of birds and the wind rustling through the green leaves above. St. Stephen’s Green is also home to a lake, an artificial waterfall, and countless types of flora and fauna.

St Stephens Green Park is an excellent place to bond with family and friends. It is a huge park and never boring. A place where you can connect with nature and enjoy the songs of birds who find refuge despite being in the city center.
An easy walk from grafton street will lead you to this park at the end. There are still lots of areas and path walk to discover, the video is just a glimpse of some parts.

Ireland's best known Victorian public park. Re-opened by Lord Ardilaun in 1880 for the citizens of Dublin. This 9 hectare / 22 acre park has been maintained in the original Victorian layout with extensive perimeter tree and shrub planting, spectacular spring and summer Victorian bedding. The herbaceous border also provides colour from early spring to late autumn. Sanctuary from inclement weather can be obtained in the Victorian lakeside shelter or in the Victorian Swiss shelters in the center of the park.
Over 3.5 km of pathways are accessible for all users. The waterfall and Pulham rock work on the western side of the green are worth of a visit likewise the ornamental lake which provides a home for waterfowl and a garden for the visually impaired. A number of sculptures are located throughout the green. A children's playground is a popular attraction of the park. Lunchtime concerts are performed during the summer months.
