1000's of dolphins in bottlenose capital of the world [Yacht Refit & Restoration Week 64] (Ep.73)
We finally found our engine & after a fat bill, the excitment slowly started to settle in. Ricky & Basil immediately got done to CAD drawing the modifications and getting them cut to start marinising the engine. We hoping she will give us many care free and safe miles! We started working on our saloon table as well. Although she isn't 100% complete yet as we still need to apply the outer trim, we should all know Ricky is a energizer bunny and needs to do multiple tasks at a time ha ha.
We also painted up our cockpit sole and engine bay with some pool coat or Flo coat. We took a trip with Rob from Stampede Cruises here in Port Elizabeth to Bird Island where we got to see tons of penguins and pods and pods of dolphins. It was amazing!

Rehabilitated Turtle Release on 15 December 2018
We released three green turtles and two small loggerheads off St Croix Island in Algoa Bay, Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
The two small loggerhead turtles stranded as hatchlings at the beginning of 2018. Sea turtle hatchlings don't have a fully developed immune system and can easily pick up a fungal or bacterial infection. We managed to pull these little guys through thanks to the amazing care and dedication of our animal care staff and contract veterinarians.
The two smaller green turtles, Willow and Adrian, weigh about 10 kg each. This is the size of green turtle we usually find in Algoa Bay and they are about 5 to 7 years old.
Cedar is the largest of the green turtles. She stranded in May of 2018 in Seaview, Port Elizabeth, and weighed over 60kg on her release. She is the first turtle we have released with a satellite tracking tag. The tracker could last for up to two years, but this depends on many factors.
Many, many, many big thanks to our sponsors and partners:
Robbie, Jamie and the rest of the crew from Stampede Cruises who graciously made their boat available to us for this release.
John Werth from BCRE and PAAZA for organizing the stellite tracking tag.
