2016 March Old Coach Trail near Radium Hot Springs BC
A little 9 km hike along the Old Coach Trail that traverses between Radium Hot Springs and Dry Gulch. This is in the East Kootenay Valley which lies between the Purcell and Rocky mountains. This trail is the original road that followed the Columbia River along the valley. It probably traveled from Canal Flats to Golden. This section has been preserved. Along here one can see the valley view, hoodoos, buried derelict cars, wildlife and of course beautiful views of the mountains on both sides. It's not a loop, so plan to leave another vehicle at the other end or expand the trek into an 18 km trip. GPS showed it to be about 9.5 km from one vehicle to another.

Eri's Adventure - Columbia River 2018 Preparing to kayak Red Grave Canyon
I paddled the entire columbia river in 2018 for the purpose of teaching youth the art of adventure. This video describes my preparation for running red grave canyon on the columbia river outside of Golden BC. It talks about equipment and how to handle the normal fear of running a steep walled whitewater canyon solo. This section of the river is one of the most dangerous and should not be run without previous whitewater experience. If you capsize and are separated from your boat there is no chance of immediate rescue and you will face a long, dangerous, and life threatening swim. To avoid the canyon take out at Donald bridge and get back in at Lake Kinbasket resort.
