Diving Deep Into The Open Waters of Honduras
After getting their pool dive skills in order, the basecampers head to the south side of the island for their first scuba dive in open waters. They visit the Prince Albert Wreck, a freighter that was intentionally sunk in 1987. Having learned how to clear your mask underwater in the pool, they discover that it's quite more intense when 18 m deep in the ocean! Check the out the video to see if they braved their fears and whether or not they fell into scuba diving panic. Reef protection and conservation is serious in the Roatán marine park.
A healthy reef is essential in keeping a high quality marine life so that fisherman can continue to eat and tourists can continue to see the beauty of the second largest reef in the world.

Norwegian Cruise: The Ports
Here is the second video of the amazing cruise my wife and I went on together. The Cruise began in Miami with an at sea day the first and final day, stopping first at Roatan, Honduras, ending in Cozumel, Mexico. Here are a list of the stops. This is a small compilation of the ports, as we were at each on for about 8-10 hours.
First Port:
Roatan, Honduras.
We went on a shore excursion that took us around the island and allowed us to view the culture of the people who lived there. Overall it was a beautiful place and we even tried Iquana, which is a food favored by the locals.
Second Port:
Harvast Caye, Belize.
This is a private island off the coast of Belize owned by Norwegian Cruise Lines and is an absolute paradise. The downside, not really Belize. The water was nice, however, as well as the weather and beaches. The shopping was also a little pricey as you were not on the main land. They had a lot of activities to include Zip Lining, Paddle Boarding, and much more.
Third Port:
Costa Maya, Mexico.
This was a beautiful stop, with a small town and shopping center right off the port. A taxi cab was necessary to get into the actual town. Once there, the beaches were great, the food was wonderful, and the weather was great. We only wish we had more time to explore. They offered plenty of tours, to include Mayan Tours, but the prices were a little steep for the excursions, so we stayed next to the water.
Fourth Port:
Cozumel, Mexico.
Cozumel was far more metropolitan right off the ship, with city streets and a very large shopping mall near the port. We chose to do a Zip Lining Excursion call Fly High Zip Lines, which was fun. They were a series of shorter zip lines totaling 11 circuits through the tree line, and you did a total of two complete circuits, or 20 zip lines. We then went to a hotel where we relaxed, drank, and snorkeled in the crystal clear water.
The trip was a blast and the ports where great. Would I do it again? Yes. The total cost of everything I felt was pricey, but the experience was worth the cost.

SUP Common Paddling Mistakes
A snapshot of the more common SUP paddling mistakes. Almost anyone can hop on a SUP and make it move across the water. Most elite paddlers will however, spend their lives perfecting their paddle stroke. The better your paddle stroke, the more fun you will have on the water. As the saying goes, self taught is not necessarily well taught. This video highlights some of the most common SUP paddling mistakes you should avoid at all costs.
Little French Key, Roatan, Honduras - Swimming with a Jaguar!
Little French Key, Roatan, Honduras ... a MUST do day-trip!
Rated # 1 by TripAdvisor.com of things to do in Roatan. My wife, teenage daughter and I absolutely LOVED our day at LFK - snorkeling, kayaking, paddle boarding, lounge chairs, bar, restaurant, wild animals (monkeys, jaguar, lion, parrots, etc.) and of course a picture-perfect tropical beach! You can pose for your picture with Simba, a jaguar. This video is of him swimming back to his enclosure.
Book directly at littlefrenchkey.com. A fantastic day trip when cruising. LFK staff will pick you up outside of the port gates at Mahogany Bay, Roatan. You'll board their bus for a short trip to their island. You can come back to the port at any time. Their shuttle service runs continuously to make sure you get back to your ship on time. The Lahijani Family (LFK owners) are very hospitable. We have traveled all over the world and LFK is in the top 10 places we'd love to go back to!
West Bay beach
The most popular beach on Roatan, West Bay beach, is a beautiful white sand beach with turquoise water, great snorkeling, paddleboarding, and just hanging out. Sunday afternoons have live music, crab races and fire dancers.
Mangrove Creek Paddle & Blue Hole Cliff Jump | Sailboat Story 113
One of Tambi's new favorite things to do is taking the paddle board out to explore the mangrove creeks that run through many of the islands.
So we take her to the mouth of the creek, get her set up on the paddle board, and we follow her through the creek in the dinghy.
I've discovered that the dinghy can be used a bit like a stand up paddle board. It doesn't track quite as straight, but it gets the job done.
After paddle boarding, the rain came in. Thankfully it wasn't a thunderstorm, just a rainmaker. I actually enjoy a good rain shower like this. It's a thing of beauty, and I always appreciate when the boat gets a free freshwater rinse.
Finally, we head back to the blue hole with Will and Rose to jump off the cliff. OH JOY! What's an acrophobia sufferer like me to do other than join in on the high-altitude fun.
Thanks for watching!!
