Cities of Hvar? Of course, there are mostly only some houses, even to call them Village would be to much. But for the People on Hvar they are their cities.
I drove on perfect weather end of april with nobody on the roads. The Tourists are entering the island 2 months later, so I had the opportunity to make clear and lonesome Videos of Pitve, Svirce, the fishing village Jelsa, especially the living museum Stari Grad and more.

Bluesun Camp Paklenica in Starigrad / Kroatien
Das Bluesun Camp Paklenica mit eigenem Strand liegt in unmittelbarer Nähe zum Nationalpark Paklenica in Starigrad.
Der Platz verfügt über ca. 200 Stellplätze. Auf dem Platz befinden sich zwei Sanitärgebäude, eine Ver- und Entsorgung, Chemietoilettenentleerung.
Wasser- und Abwasseranschluß direkt auf den Parzellen.
Der Swimmingpool des Bluesun Hotels Alan kann mitgenutzt werden.
Das Restaurant Batela befindet sich direkt am Platz und die Speisen sind sehr schmackhaft. Weitere Restaurants sind in wenigen Minuten erreicht.
Ein kleiner Supermarkt grenzt an den Campingplatz.
Auf dem Campingplatz stehen noch Mobilheime und Mietwohnwagen zur Verfügung.

Winnetoumuseum Starigrad 2017
Kroatien, insbesondere das Gebiet rund um den Paklenica Nationalpark in der Region Zadar, ist bei vielen Filmfans bekannt: Denn zahlreiche Szenen aus den Winnetou-Filmen von Karl May wurden in den oftmals rauen, felsigen und karstigen Landschaften des Landes gedreht. Ein beliebtes Ausflugsziel der Filmfans sind die Drehorte rund um Starigrad Paklenica, das etwa 50km von der norddalmatinischen Stadt Zadar entfernt liegt. Für insgesamt elf Filme der Reihe dienten Kroatiens atemberaubende Landschaften als Filmkulisse. Die meisten Filme wurden im Velebit-Gebirge rund um Paklenica gedreht. Der Zrmanja Canyon, Omis, der Fluss Cetina sowie die Nationalparks Paklenica und Plitvicer Seen sind weitere Drehorte der beliebten Karl May Filme. Dies kam unter anderem zustande, weil Rialto Film aus Berlin mit einer Produktionsfirma aus Zagreb zusammen arbeitete. Die Dreharbeiten für Der Schatz im Silbersee, Unter Geiern und viele mehr fanden in den Jahren 1962 bis 1968 statt.
Weil die Dreharbeiten für die Region sowie die Drehorte für zahlreiche Touristen von großem Wert sind, wurde 2009 im ehemaligen Motel Alan in Starigrad Paklenica das erste Winnetou Museum eröffnet. Das Museum beherbergt nicht nur zahlreiche Original-Filmrequisiten wie Kanus, Kostüme und Scheinwerfer. Auch das Gebäude selber ist für Fans von Bedeutung, denn hier waren viele der Filmstars und Crewmitglieder während der Dreharbeiten einquartiert. So können heute die Zimmer besichtigt werden, in denen Pierre Brice und Lex Barker schliefen.
Das Winnetou Museum hat von Anfang April bis Ende Oktober von 12.00 bis 13.00 Uhr und von 17.00 bis 18.00 Uhr geöffnet. Gruppen erhalten auf Anfrage eine Führung. Der Besuch ist kostenlos. Wer sich vor Ort von den Drehorten überzeugen will, findet vor dem Museum eine Hinweistafel, auf der die Standorte beschrieben sind. Ein Besuch der einzelnen Drehorte lässt sich, aufgrund ihrer Lage inmitten des Nationalparks und hoch aufragenden Bergen, wunderbar mit einer Wanderung verbinden.

S druge strane, UNESKO je, pod čijom je zaštitom ovaj stari deo, upozorio da dnevno tu ne sme biti više od 8.000 ljudi.
Izvesno je da turisti prepoznaju vrednosti toga grada, zato i dolaze da ih vide.

Hvar is a city and port on the island of Hvar, part of Split-Dalmatia County, Croatia. The municipality has a population of 4,138 (2001) while the city itself is inhabited by 3,672 people, making it the largest settlement on the island of Hvar. It is situated on a bay in the south coast of the island, opposite from the other nearby towns of Stari Grad and Jelsa.
The city of Hvar has a long and distinguished history as center for trade and culture in the Adriatic. An independent commune within the Venetian Empire during the 13th to 18th centuries, it was an important naval base with a strong fortress above, encircling town walls and protected port. Cultural life thrived as prosperity grew, and Hvar is the site of one of the oldest surviving theatres in Europe, opened in 1612. The seven-century old walls still survive, as do many of the noble houses and public buildings from 15th - 17th centuries.
By the 19th century, the port of Hvar was no longer a military base, and The Hygienic Society of Hvar (Higijeničko društvo u Hvaru) took the economy of the city and the island in a new direction. As one of the earliest tourist boards in Europe, it was founded in 1868 with the purpose of providing good care for visitors. Today, the city has a variety of hotels, galleries, museums, and exhibitions, including the Arsenal, Loggia, the Croatian Institute, and the Hvar Heritage Museum with its art and archaeological collections.
The port of Hvar, set in a picturesque natural bay, with the Pakleni Otoci island chain protecting it to the south, is a safe haven for boats year round. The city is a popular port of call for yachts sailing around the Adriatic, especially in the summer months. The island of Hvar is the queen of the Croatian Dalmatian islands. It has been famous since the antique because of its important strategic and nautical position, the rich of the various historical periods, the culture and natural monuments and the literature.
Thanks to the mild climate, the warm winters and pleasant summers Hvar receives many guests, scientists and travellers, who are attracted by the dense Mediterranean nature, rich tradition and arhitecture, and nightlife.
Lately, the worldvide celebrities are coming here to see what is it about.
While separation from the mainland can sometimes be a handicap, it also provides some protection from the factory chimneys and other misfortunes which come with civilisation. Instead, there are vast fields of lavender, ancient olive trees and vineyards, in immaculate harmony between man and nature.
There are wine and olives, so a guest wishing to get closer to nature will stop at a small inn (Hvar konoba) rather than a top quality restaurant.

The ancient Greeks founded the colony of Pharos in 384 BC on the site of today’s Stari Grad, making it one of the oldest towns in Europe. They were also responsible for setting out the agricultural field divisions of the Stari Grad Plain, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In medieval times, Hvar (city) rose to importance within the Venetian Empire as a major naval base. Prosperity brought culture and the arts, with one of the first public theatres in Europe, nobles’ palaces and many fine communal buildings.
The 16th century was an unsettled time, with the Hvar Rebellion, coastal raids by pirates and the Ottoman army from the mainland, resulting in some unusual fortified buildings on the northern shore to protect the local population. After a brief time under Napoleonic rule, the island became part of the Austrian Empire, a more peaceful and prosperous time. On the coast, harbours were expanded, quays built, fishing and boat building businesses grew. At the same time, the island’s wine exports increased, along with lavender and rosemary production for the French perfume industry. However, this prosperity did not continue into the 20th century as wooden sailing boats went out of fashion, and the phylloxera blight hit wine production. Many islanders left to make a new life elsewhere.

First, thanks to all of the costumed men and women for taking time to talk with me about various aspects of the medieval period related to weaponry, dress, and punishment. In terms of the last, you'll see in my video a woman being put into a klada which was a device used solely for the purpose of embarrassing thieves (and maybe other criminals) for at least 20 hours, with someone standing by to ensure that they remained alive; anyone could see them in the main squares of their towns.
With regard to battles in the medieval period, I understand that spears would be used first, then swords. The spears could be easily broken, while the iron in the swords kept them intact. While hunting, archers would carry something like a short sword for the purpose of defense if someone they didn't know approached them.
In terms of the costumes, something you may not know is that unmarried women wore their hair down to let bachelors know they were available. Married women were required to cover their hair so as not to seduce other men which was recognized as inappropriate. However, both men and women dressed according to their social positions, the styles changing across the centuries.
Anyway, so my video gives an overview of what you could've seen, though not all of it. For example, I missed the official dance performance, though I caught one costumed man dancing. At the same time, I didn't record everything I did see, mostly because there were a lot of disruptions with people going in and out.
More importantly, my video is an edited compilation which just means it's not in chronological order. However, I didn't stay for the whole event (scheduled from 10a to 8p), which was the first of its kind in Varaždin and free. Also, there was supposed to be a parade through the center of town, but I think it may have been cancelled due to the rain; if not, I have no way of knowing since I left earlier in the day.

* Note: During the medieval period, hunters used wooden bows and arrows. So, for this event, you had the opportunity to shoot them (free), with the help of an experienced archer. The form is a little different, but kind of cool.

Croatia is known for its beautiful sea water and pebbly beaches. In this vlog we take you to Dubrovnik Croatia. This city lies in the southern part of Croatia fronting the Adriatic Sea. It's known for its distinctive Old Town, encircled with massive stone walls completed in the 16th century. Its well-preserved buildings range from baroque St. Blaise Church to Renaissance Sponza Palace and Gothic Rector’s Palace, now a history museum. Paved with limestone, the pedestrianized Stradun (or Placa) is lined with shops and restaurants.
We also see the rare mountain donkeys (just kidding). We do see donkeys at the top of a mountain with a spectacular view of Old Town.
