Tempe, Sydney, N.S.W. - A Brief History
In 1836 Alexander Brodie Spark, a merchant of early Sydney, built a rural retreat, on the southern bank of Cooks River which he called ‘Tempe’. The Sydney suburb was named after his house. Despite the many changes that have taken place Tempe retains much of its historic past.
