Sowore2019: Take it Back Movement
For 58 years, Nigeria has been ruled by misfits. Successive leaders, military and civilian have, since 1970, destroyed and decimated Nigeria. These visionless and corrupt leaders have left the world's most populous black nation in tatters.
As a result, it is one of the nations with the highest number of poor people today.
With your help, we can break this jinx in 2019 and give Nigeria the revolutionary politics that will send these leaders into permanent retirement. Your support can bring forth a new set of patriotic and conscientious leaders that will create the Nigeria that we all long for.
Let’s say a permanent goodbye to the politics of Godfathers, Godmothers, Godsons, and Goddaughters.
Let us make history together.

Kofifi Theatre Company
Kofifi Theatre Company presents the 1986 play 'Sophiatown' -- this clip is from the Soweto Theatre run April 2013. For more information contact: thmcentre@mweb.co.za
Produced by the Trevor Huddleston Centre, with guest director Alexander Gifford from the UK, this production commemorates three important legacies from South Africa's history: (i) the Centenary of the Native Land Act 1913 that began the process of white people appropriating land from black people which led to forced removals across the country, starting in Sophiatown in 1955 (under the Native Resettlement Act; (ii) the centenary of Father Huddleston's birth, June 15 1913 -- Huddleston was a life-long activist against racism and apartheid, who spent 12 formative years in Sophiatown between 1943-1955; and (iii) 100 years of Sophiatown being a neighbourhood (1912).
Despite its past, Sophiatown today is again one of the most diverse suburbs in South Africa. Kofifi Theatre Company is based in a heritage site and works in the historic house of Dr A B Xuma -- one of only four buildings to survive the Sophiatown demolitions between 1955-1962.

Sarafina Opening Night
The new Sarafina has been found. A young lady, Noxolo Dlamini was discovered and chosen by Dr Mbongeni Ngema and his company committed artists, to be the one to fill in the big shoes of the former Sarafina, Leleti Khumalo. All the way from Chiawelo in Soweto, the 23 year old is geared for this mammoth task to star as Sarafina in the return of the international multi award winning Broadway hit musical Sarafina at the South African State Theatre, Pretoria.
The young Dlamini holds a BA in Dramatic Arts from the University of Pretoria which she obtained in 2014. Her acting career tracks from her childhood, following it through high school when she went to the National School of Arts for 2 years nurturing as an artist. In her varsity years she had the expense to feature in internationally acclaimed productions like the “Lion King” in London directed by Julie Taymor, Fantasy of light by Lizz Meiring. Her hustle also landed her in the Grahamastown Arts festival to star in Street Lights with Lips directed by Napo Mashiane, Bad Boy the Musical directed by Davel.
Dlamini is humbly excited, at the same time nerve-wrecked about her lead role. “I am honoured and privileged to work with the big names like Baba Ngema, and the experienced cast of Sarafina. This a nerve-wrecking opportunity that has big shoes of Mama Leleti Khumalo, whom I look up to so much.” she explains.
Dr Ngema says ‘Noxolo was spotted up during the Sarafina auditions held last year and she exceeded our expectations as committed artists. From that day we knew we have found Sarafina!’ “Sarafina is no doubt one theatrical piece that remains and will forever be a constant reminder of the pain, the misery and most importantly the hope that young people had for the South Africa that we are enjoying today. Furthermore, this is the time to tell our own stories,” Ngema explained.
The previous run of Sarafina at the South African State Theatre was in 2004, where it attracted more than 25 000 people with 27 performances. It is expected to go further. Sarafina will show LIVE at a 1 300 seating capacity Opera theatre from the 28th of February to May 20th. This will be the longest African Musical Show to run in the history of State Theatre. Tickets can be obtained at Computicket ranging from R120- R180 and R100 for students.
