Her tradition, her culture, everything is Albanian. She is Skopje-born, but in no way, she can't be Macedonian or a citizen of Macedonian state _ which is a country created recently. I do not understand why they are doing this, saying all these things. I understand that everybody wants Mother Teresa to be theirs. I understand that the world envies us. But, Mother Teresa loved everybody and she is everybody's mother, mother of all of us, including Macedonians. But such speculations (about her origin) when relationship between Albanians and Macedonians is fragile, with all
these manipulations don't serve anybody.

STORYLINE:
As the date for Mother Teresa's beatification draws nearer, disputes over her origins are becoming more heated in the Balkans.
Both the faithful and the skeptical in Kosovo, Macedonia and Albania claim Mother Teresa as their own.
With the October 19 beatification now only a week away, there has been a rush to grab the edge of Mother Teresa's sari, leading to disputes over the volatile mix of history, ethnicity and religion that have sometimes led to decidedly un-Christian behavior here.
Mother Teresa's parents were ethnic Albanians from Kosovo, according to her unofficial biographer, Father Lush Gjergji.
But when Macedonian civic leaders offered to donate a bronze statue of the Nobel Prize winner to Rome, a vicious argument over her ancestry ensued.

???????? Pristine: the capital of Kosovo is full of people and vitality. I thought I would find a quiet and relaxed place, but it’s just the opposite. There are many things to see: the National Library (with an architectural style imitating the Arab baths), the unfinished Church of Christ the Savior; the Newborn Monument (which changes its painting from time to time), the Palace of Youth and Sports; the beautiful Fatih Mosque and Cathedral of the Holy Mother Teresa of Calcutta. George Bush has dedicated an avenue, and Bill Clinton, in addition, his own monument (and his wife Hillary, a clothing store). It’s also interesting to visit the Kosovo museum to learn about archeology and war history.

Mother Teresa was born in Skopje, on 26th of August 1910 in an Albanian Catholic family. The place of this museum was not randomly chosen - Mother Teresa, born Gonxhe Bojaxhiu was baptized in the old Catholic Church, Sacred Heart of Jesus that was right here on the same place that this museum was built in 2009. She used to spent most of her days in her youth here in the Catholic Church. She received her first communion here. She started school in the church school. She also sang in the church choir and she practically spent most of her time here in the church until she was 18 and she left Skopje and she went to Dublin, to Ireland.

Ahead of Mother Teresa's canonisation by Pope Francis on Sunday, celebrations are also being planned in Skopje, Macedonia, the place of her birth.
The Vatican ceremony is expected to draw tens of thousands to honour the tiny, stooped nun who was fast-tracked for sainthood just a year after she died in 1997.
Although she's best remembered for her work in India with Kolkata's destitute and ill, Mother Teresa's religious awakening began in the Balkans.
Born Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu on August 26, 1910, in Skopje, Mother Teresa spent much of her childhood at the Sacred Heart of Jesus church, now a museum honouring her life and work.

STORYLINE
Albanian Catholics wearing traditional folk costumes, along with school children, nuns and bishops filled the courtyard of a cathedral named after Mother Teresa in Vau i Dejes on Thursday for a Mass commemorating the centenary of her birth.
Albanians are proud of the Albanian origins of Mother Teresa, who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979.
The country's airport, main hospital and a square in the capital, Tirana, are named after her. Statues of her stand in the National Museum and in front of Tirana University.
Prime Minister Sali Berisha, Parliament Speaker Jozefina Topalli and other senior officials attended the Mass in Vau i Dejes, a town 110 kilometres (nearly 70 miles) north of Tirana, laying bouquets of flowers before a statue of the Nobel laureate before the ceremony.
Born as Agnes Gonxhe Bojaxhiu, Mother Teresa went to Calcutta, India, in 1929, and dedicated herself to serving the poor and infirm.
She died on September 5, 1997 at the age of 87.
She was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 2003, putting her on the road to possible sainthood for her life's work building shelters, orphanages and clinics around the world.
Post offices in Albania, Kosovo and Macedonia will issue a joint stamp of Mother Teresa to mark the centenary of her birth, and the national museum in Tirana has opened a pavilion dedicated to her life.
About two-thirds of Albania's 3.2 (m) million people are Muslim, and the country has a sizable Christian Orthodox minority.
Catholics are believed to make up about 10-15 percent of the population. Exact figures are not available as the last census on religious affiliation was carried out before World War II.

Welcome to Kosovo (Pristina is CRAZY) ????????
I travelled to Pristina (Kosovo), the youngest capital of Europe, to catch some good vibes.
Kosovo people are crazy and very welcoming. Prishtina is a really cool city. I searched the news on Kosovo; from what I experienced, it’s nothing like a war-zone. However, do your own research.
But I can recommend you to travel in Pristina. I was lucky enough to get tickets for the football Euro Qualifiers 2020 game - Kosovo vs Czech Republic, which Kosovo won 2-1. Their Football Fans are crazy.
The main sights I visited are:
Newborn Monument, Nene Tereza Boulevard, Rruga B (Street Art Walls), Pristina Football Stadium, National Library (considered as one of the ugliest buildings in the world) & Cathedral of St. Mother Teresa.
Kosovo is also known for making the best Latte Macchiato. If you look for a coffeeshop, try Dit’ e Nat’ and Soma Book Station.
ps: This is not a political video. I explored Pristina as a tourist and had a good experience.
In Kosovo, they are not so used to tourists yet. Tourist mainly come from Germany and Switzerland (I’m Swiss of Chinese origin).
► Subscribe, as I will go on a longer trip to visit exotic countries, starting in November 2019.

Artist creates mosaic of Mother Teresa in Kosovo
(28 Nov 2016) KOSOVO ARTIST CREATES MOSAIC OF MOTHER TERESA
An Albanian artist on Monday (28 NOV. 2016) unveiled a portrait of Mother Teresa using staples, in a call for European countries to stop raising fences to shut their borders to refugees.
Saimir Strati unveiled the 10-square-meter (12-square-yard) mosaic portrait of Teresa, built with 1.5 million wire staples, at the National Museum of Kosovo in the capital, Pristina.
Strati's idea came after seeing hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees coming to Europe while diplomacy and politics failed to resolve their situation.
The 50-year-old Strati decided to unveil the portrait on Albania's independence day. The tiny Western Balkan nation was part of the Ottoman Empire for almost five centuries until November 28, 1912.
Teresa, who was recently made a saint, was born to Albanian parents.
Teresa's canonisation by Pope Francis at the Vatican in September and the migrant crisis inspired him to create his latest mosaic.
Strati is hoping for his 10th Guinness World record in as many years for a piece of art using the most staples, following nine other mosaics using items like toothpicks, coffee beans and wine corks.
For the Teresa portrait, he used white and brown staples readily available in many stores.
Strati donated his mosaic to the Kosovo museum. On Wednesday, he will send documentation to the Guinness World Record office in a bid to claim the record.

Now, after raising two adventure-seeking boys, we are ready to get out and explore some more. Our children have begun their lives and now it’s time to begin the second-half of ours.
We wanted a challenge and something fun, so we are starting an adventure of a lifetime. We’re calling it #60×60. Our plan is to travel to 60 countries by the time Kim turns 60 (that’s in 6 years by the way).
