यह झील मंडी में पर्यटकों का मुख्य आकर्षण केंद्र है जो समुद्र स्तर से 1350 मीटर की ऊंचाई पर स्थित है। यहां पर भगवान बुद्ध के तीन मठ बने हुए है जो हिंदू मंदिर में स्थापित है। यह जगह सिख धर्म के लिए भी महत्वपूर्ण है क्योंकि यहां 10 वें सिखगुरू गोविंद सिंह एक महीने के लिए आएं थे। यहां स्थित मठ सो पेमा के नाम से जाने जाते है। यहां के मंदिर भगवान कृष्ण और शिव को समर्पित है। कहा जाता है कि इस जगह को बुद्ध गुरू और तांत्रिक गुरू रिमपोचे के नाम से जानते है। यह मंडी से 25 किमी. की दूरी पर स्थित है जिसमें 735 मीटर की दीवार है। यहां हर साल फरवरी में सीसू मेला लगता है जो वैसाखी पर्व के लिए खास रूप से मनाया जाता है। हर साल लाखों पर्यटक यहां इस दौरान आते है।
पद्मसम्भव (तिब्बती: པདྨ་འབྱུང་གནས), (अर्थ: कमल से उत्पन्न) भारत के एक साधुपुरुष थे जिन्होने आठवीं शती में तांत्रिक बौद्ध धर्म को भूटान एवं तिब्बत में ले जाने एवं प्रसार करने में महती भूमिका निभायी। वहाँ उनको गुरू रिन्पोछे (बहुमूल्य गुरू) या लोपों रिन्पोछे के नाम से जाना जाता है। ञिङमा सम्प्रदाय के अनुयायी उन्हें द्वितीय बुद्ध मानते हैं।
ऐसा माना जाता है कि मंडी के राजा अर्शधर को जब यह पता चला कि उनकी पुत्री ने गुरु पद्मसंभव से शिक्षा ली है तो उसने गुरु पद्मसंभव को आग में जला देने का आदेश दिया, क्योंकि उस समय बौद्ध धर्म अधिक प्रचलित नहीं था और इसे शंका की दृष्टि से देखा जाता था। बहुत बड़ी चिता बनाई गई जो सात दिन तक जलती रही। इससे वहाँ एक झील बन गई जिसमें से एक कमल के फूल में से गुरु पद्मसंभव एक षोडशवर्षीय किशोर के रूप में प्रकट हुए।[यह झील आज के रिवालसर शहर में है जो हिमाचल प्रदेश के मंडी जिले में स्थित है।

There is a Rival lake in Mandi Himachal Pradesh, which is said to be made of ash. The lake is situated on the foothills of the Himalayas at the height of 1360 meters. It is sacred for Hindus, Sikhs and Buddhists. Very few people know about this hill station. Let's know the story of this lake-
This story is associated with the great Guru Padmasambhava Rinpoche, who are considered to be the pioneers of Buddhism in Tibet. According to legend, Mandar, the daughter of King Arshadar of Mandi, was studying from Guru Padmashambhava, and both of them started joining spirituality from each other.
When the king came to know of it, he ordered that Guru Padmasambhava be burnt in the fire because at that time Buddhist religion was seen with suspicion. The king made his pigment so big that he was burning for 7 days. After seven days, there was a lake in place of ashes. Of which one of the lotus flowers, Guru Padmasambhava appeared as a teenager.
The king has repented of his wrongdoing. He married his daughter to Guru Padmasambha.

RivalersGurudwara Guru is dedicated to Govind Singh. In 1738, Guru Gobind Singh Rivalers had come. JoginderSen of Mandi built this gurdwara in his honor in 1930. Legend has it that he was meditating in these caves and daughter Mandarawa of the King was receiving his teachings without the knowledge of the king. King was furious and he was set on a pyre as punishment. Next day he found a fresh lake and PadmaSambhawa was sitting on a lotus unharmed. King realized his own mistake and offered him his daughter and his hat for repentance.

Vast, apparently unending and sparking blue, the Rewalsar lake on a sunny day is a rare beauty. The lake remains calm all year round and truly comes to life when the mercury rises during the stifling summer. Surrounded by rugged mountains on all sides, this scenic lake is located at an altitude of 1,360 m above sea level and around 22.5 kilometres away from Mandi. The lake is square in shape and is sprawls over an area of 735 m.
Considered as one of the most sacred lakes of Himachal Pradesh, Rewalsar Lake is revered by the people of different religions- Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist. Tibetan Buddhist calls it by the name of Tso-Pema, the lotus lake. Legend has it that the king of Mandi tried to kill Guru Padmasambhava when he got to know that his daughter Mandarava is running off with him. The king tried to ruin their love by cursing them to die in a fire. By using his supernatural powers, Padmasambhava transformed the funeral pyre into a lake of sesame oil, surrounded by a ring of fire. In the middle of the fire bloomed a huge lotus flower on which Guru Padmasambhava was seated surrounded by rainbows and clouds. People even say that the Guru Padmasambhava's (Guru Rinpoche) spirit resides in this lake in the form of a tiny reed flowing in the river.
Overlooking the lake, there is a 12 m-high statue of Padmasambhava, which is the main attraction of the place. Next to the lake there are three temples which are dedicated to Lord Krishna, Lord Shiva and the sage Lomas. The lake is also home to the Drikung Kagyu Gompa which is an academy for Buddhist studies and houses a Sakyamuni statue. Beyond that there is a Gurudwara dedicated to Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Guru of Sikhism. The Guru Gobind Singh Gurudwara was built in 1930 to honor Guru Gobind Singh ji's visit in 1738 to Rewalsar.
Other important pilgrimage sites nearby the lake are Padmasambhava Cave, Naina Devi Temple, Zigar Drukpa Kagyud Institute, Drikung Kagyud Gompa, Jigar Monastery, Kunt Bhyog and six other lakes which are associated with an epic episode of Mahabharata where an attempt was made to kill 'Pandavas' in the palace of wax. Every year, the place shrugs off its calm during the months of the Sisu and Baisakhi festival. If a tourist wants to step away from the city for a quiet getaway, then they must include Naina Devi Temple is situated in Sarkidhar of Mandi distt of Himachal Pradesh. You can reach Naina Devi Temple easily by bus. You can take bus from Rewalsar at 12.30 pm. This is the only way to reach Naina Devi Temple.Naina Devi Temple is situated in Sarkidhar of Mandi distt of Himachal Pradesh.
SAR KI DHAR is 12 km away from Rewalsar. It (sar ki dhar) is a beautiful town and is known for its SEVEN LAKES which are known as SAAT SAR.

rewalsar also is a home to some of the popular monasteries from the Nyingmapa order of Buddhism. The Drikung Kagyud Gompa and the Zigar Gompa are among the prominent monasteries of this order. A unique feature of these gompas is the amalgamation of the Indo-Chinese style of architecture. They have beautiful interiors adorned with stucco images and paintings. Rewalsar is an important site of Buddhism in this state due to its legends about the 8th century saint, Padmasambhava. It is believed that he proceeded to Tibet from Rewalsar. Presently, Rewalsar is among the most visited Buddhist pilgrimage sites in the country.

McLeod Ganj is a suburb of Dharamshala in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, India. It has an average elevation of 2,082 metres (6,831 feet).
Situated on the Dhauladhar Range, whose highest peak, Hanuman Ka Tibba, at about 5,639 metres (18,500 feet), lies just behind it, it is known as Little Lhasa or Dhasa (a short form of Dharamshala used mainly by Tibetans) because of its large population of Tibetans. The Tibetan government-in-exile is headquartered in McLeod Ganj.
Many people come here to study Tibetan Buddhism, culture, crafts, etc. The town is also known for Tibetan handicrafts, thangkas, Tibetan carpets, garments and other souvenirs.
The most important Buddhist site in the town is Tsuglagkhang or Tsuglag Khang, the Dalai Lama's temple. It has statues of Shakyamuni, Avalokiteśvara, and a statue of Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche).
Other Buddhist and Tibetan sites in McLeod Ganj include the Namgyal Monastery, the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts, Gompa Dip Tse-Chok Ling (a small monastery), the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives, Gangchen Kyishong (called Gangkyi for short by Tibetans and the premises of the Tibetan government-in-exile), Mani Lakhang Stupa, Nechung Monastery, and Norbulingka Institute, which is 8 kilometres away. The 17th Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje, lives near Dharamshala, in Gyuto monastery in Sidhbari.
The major towns near McLeodGanj include Dharamshala, Palampur, Kangra, Tatwani and Machhrial. Other nearby spiritual attractions include Chinmaya Tapovan (a Hindu retreat centre), Osho Nisarga (an Osho retreat centre), and Chamunda (a pilgrimage place for Hindus).
