How much do you know about the veterans at Busan’s UN cemetery in South Korea
On June 11th, the remains of a Canadian veteran of the 1950-53 Korean War arrived at Incheon International Airport, west of Seoul, with his beloved wife and grandson. The remains of the late Albert Hugh McBride, who died in 2017, spent one night here at the Seoul National Cemetery and were buried at the UN Memorial Cemetery in the southern port city of Busan the next day. We had the chance to meet with the family members of McBride to hear his story.

Japan should reveal truth about drafting of Koreans, sincerely apologize: N. Korean official
북한 리종혁 일본, 조선인 강제징용 진상 규명하고 사죄•배상해야
A local civic group promoting peace in Asia Pacific region held a conference on the forced mobilization of Koreans during Japan's colonial rule.
It brought together 300 participants from 10 Asia-Pacific countries.
A senior official from Pyeongyang harshly condemned Tokyo's war crimes and called for action.
Oh Jung-hee has the highlights from that session
A nation that forgets its past has no future.
That was a swipe against Japan by Ri Jong-hyok, a senior North Korean official who spoke at an international conference held in South Korea on Friday.
The conference, held in Goyang, Gyeonggi-do Province, was on peace and prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region... and it centered around Japan's forced mobilization of Koreans during its colonial rule of the Peninsula in the first half of the 20th century.
Ri pointed out that Japan forcibly mobilized 8-point-4 million Koreans as soldiers, laborers and some 200-thousand women as sex slaves.
In that process, many were cruelly massacred.
Ri called for Tokyo to take sincere steps.
First, the Japanese government should thoroughly investigate and reveal the entire truth about the drafting of Koreans. Second, Japan should admit its national responsibility and give an official apology and sufficient compensation to all the victims and their families. Third, Japan should find all the remains of the victims and take steps to return them to their home country.
Japan claims that the issue was resolved through the Korea-Japan Treaty in 1965.
Back then, Japan paid South Korea 300-million U.S. dollars in compensation for its colonial rule without a formal apology to the victims.
Japan's former Prime Minister, Yukio Hatoyama, who took part in Friday's event, highlighted... that the treaty does not resolve the issue.
The historical fact that Japan colonized Korea and waged a war should be taken seriously, and I believe this issue is not resolved by the Korea-Japan Treaty. Japan has an unlimited responsibility for this and should be apologizing until the victims feel they don't need any more apologies.
The forum ended with a joint resolution denouncing Japan's drafting of Koreans and people from other Asia-Pacific countries as a war crime.
The participating countries promised to coordinate in revealing the truth of Japan's war crimes... and in finding the remains of the victims.

100 Icons of Korean Culture Ep58C03 The Smiles of Modern-day People
Seosan Buddha Trinity Statue
Since ancient times Koreans had a good sense of humor and enjoyed satire as a way to overcome life's hardships. They knew how to turn difficulties into a subject of humor, which can be seen in Korean literature and art.
The Seosan Buddha Trinity Statue is the National Treasure No. 84 known as the smiles of Baekje. It is a well-known fact that Koreans' positive thinking helps them overcome difficulties and create energy. The smiles of the Seosan Buddha Trinity Statue look different according to the time of the day and the angle of light. This program introduces the statue from the standpoint of a photographer who ascended Mount Gaya to compare the peaceful smiles of the Buddha with the smiles of modern-day people.

- Korean War Memorial to the First Battle of the UN Forces -
Located at Jukiryeong, Naesammi-Dong, Osan-City, Kyonggi Province, this monument was erected by the kyonggi provincial office on April 6, 1982, The memorial is made of three separate panels rising 19.5 meters high and five bronze figures standing 3.6 meters hight. The three panels symbolize the three positions taken up by the UN forces when they encountered the enemy for the first time in the war. The bronze statues express the ferocity of the first battle.
The Monument was erected in memory of the first battle between the UN forces and the North Korean communist aggressors and symbolizes the hope that the soldiers who perished in the fighting will rest in peace. The UN forces engaged the enemy for the first time on July 5, 1950. Companies B and C of the 1st Battalion, the 21st Regiment of the US 24th Infantry Division, under the battalion command of Lieutenant Colonel Charles Bradford Smith, and Unit A of the 52nd Artillery Battalion of the same division engaged the enemy in fierce battles for six hours and 15 minutes.
Five hundred and forty US servicemen fought against the 5th Regiment of the North Korean Army, 4th Infantry Division. They killed 127 enemy soldiers and destroyed 6 tanks but suffered 181 dead and a loss of heavy weapons
- Story of the JookMiRyung Battle in KOREA WAR -
On July 5th, the first battle between the United Nations and North Korea took place in the JookMiRyung Valley in Osan City.
When Task Force Smith arrived at 3 am, it was raining hard and they prepared a battle station nearby both the train tracks and road. Division B was placed on the left side of the road, and the Division C was placed on the right side of the train tracks. A 105mm cannon was placed in SooChungRee, at the back of the JookMiRyung valley.
At 7 am, the North Korean tanks begin to appear near Suwon. The battle began at 8:16am when Task Force Smith fired the first shot. Unfortunately, the attack did not impact the North Korean army, as they were led by Russian T-34 tanks.
Around 10:00 am, more North Korean army and trucks—all together about 10 km long—appeared led by 3 tanks.
Task Force Smith begin shooting their mortars and machine guns and many soldiers, both enemy and ally, fell to the ground.
However, after the North Korean army blocked the retreating road of the Smith Army and the tanks pushed into the center of the Task Force Smith force, the defense line collapsed quickly.
After the exhaustion of all their ammunition and force, Task Force Smith decided to retreat at 2:30 PM. Out of 540 total, 150 soldiers and 31 cannon soldiers were either killed or missing in action. By comparison, the North Korean army only lost about 150 soldiers out of 5000.
Despite the loss, this first battle announced the participation of the UN army. Up until this point, North Korea did not think that either the U.S. or UN would get involved. It was also the first military action taken by the UN after their foundation in order to protect liberty and peace.
Suspense: Eve
Plots of thrillers involve characters which come into conflict with each other or with outside forces -- the threat is sometimes abstract or unseen. An atmosphere of creepy menace and sudden violence, such as crime and murder, characterize thrillers. Thrillers often present the world and society as dark, corrupt and dangerous. But in Hollywood they usually feature upbeat endings in which evil is overcome. The tension usually arises when the character(s) is placed in a menacing situation, a mystery, or a trap from which escaping seems impossible. Life is threatened, usually because the principal character is unsuspectingly or unknowingly involved in a dangerous or potentially deadly situation.[15]
Thrillers emphasize the puzzle aspect of the plot. There are clues and the viewer/reader should be able to determine the solution at about the same times as the main character. In thrillers the compelling questions isn't necessarily who did it but whether the villain will be caught before committing another crime. Hitchcock's films often placed an innocent victim (an average, responsible person) into a strange, life-threatening or terrorizing situation, in a case of mistaken identity, misidentification or wrongful accusation.[16]
Thrillers take place mostly in ordinary suburbs and cities, although sometimes they may take place wholly or partly in exotic settings such as foreign cities, deserts, polar regions, or the high seas. Usually, tough, resourceful, but essentially ordinary heroes are pitted against villains determined to destroy them, their country, or the stability of the free world. Often in a thriller the protagonist is faced with what seem to be insurmountable problems in his mission, carried out against a ticking clock, the stakes are high and although resourceful they face personal dilemmas along the way forcing them to make sacrifices for others.

Jakarta City Tour! Places around Monas~
Hello! First video of the channel yeay!
Filming this is kind of eye-opening for me because I'm those Indonesian who only saw my own country through the media. So, to be very honest, I could say that I was a hater. But, going to Monas and places around them was a wholesome experience and surely has changed my point-of-view toward Indonesia. (I actually never been to Monas until that day lol)
The video is actually my first ever full-length vlog. And yeah, shaky hands and heck lot of noise. And maybe you'll realize some quality of the video are different because I actually used my phone to film it. I'm really open for any form of helpful criticism, and please be kind to keep the comment section peaceful~
p.s. the video recorded while me dying from literally walking by foot to each places with backpack filled with laptop and clothes :(
Video pertama yeay!
Selamat menonton! Happy watching!
