전주 풍남문 광장의 '평화의 소녀상'이 새 털양말을 신었습니다. 지난해엔 나비 달린 감색 양말이 화제가 됐는데, 이번엔 파란색 양말입니다.
발이 땅에 붙어 있어, 뜨개질로 그 자리에서 양말을 만들어야 양말을 신길 수 있는 소녀상. 겨울이면 이렇게 전국을 돌며 소녀상에 뜨개질로 양말을 만들어 신기는 이가 있습니다.

STORYLINE:
South Korea said on Thursday it would resume emergency flood aid to North Korea, in the latest sign that Pyongyang's recent agreement on nuclear disarmament has warmed ties between the Koreas.
Shipments of aid were suspended last year after North Korea carried out a test on a nuclear weapon on October 9.
But South Korean Vice Unification Minister Shin Eon-sang said Seoul would complete shipment of a 221 billion won (237 million US dollars) aid package, which it pledged to the North to help it cope with floods last summer.
Regarding the flood aid to North Korea, we will first send blankets on March 28 from Incheon port, followed by food, trucks and construction materials from April to end of May, said the minister.
Shin said the government decided to resume the aid following progress in international nuclear talks and requests from the North, and considering the fact it was purely humanitarian assistance as part of emergency relief.
Separately, the South will begin shipping 300-thousand tons of fertiliser to the North later this month and also plans to send supplies to help North Korea cope with recent outbreaks of foot-and-mouth disease.
North Korea requested aid of 300-thousand tons of fertilisers from the president of South Korean Red Cross. Considering the previous aid that helped their agricultural productivity, the improvement of their food supply and the relationship between South and North Korea, South Korean government decided to send the fertilisers, said Shin.
As part of a breakthrough accord with the US and other regional powers last month, the North pledged to shut down its main nuclear reactor by mid-April, an initial step toward the eventual dismantling of all its nuclear programs.
In return the North is to receive energy and economic aid and a start toward normalising relations with the US and Japan.

A Korean War veteran from Britain has been searching for a little girl he saved during the conflict. Keith Leese from Telford was one of thousands of Britons who served there in the 1950s.
He travelled back to South Korea to commemorate one of the bloodiest battles and remember the hundreds of British lives that were lost. But his enduring memory of the war is meeting that little girl.

Ryu Sung Ryong, a humanist in the Joseon Dynasty, and his descendants live in this house. The name of the house, Chunghyodang, means to be loyal to the country and to the parents.

The house in Hahoe Folk Village is the most magnificent and perfectly equipped with the formalities of the main house. The name of the mansion, Hwagyeongdang, means 'to serve the parents and the king'.

It is a 600-year-old zelkova tree that is located in the center of the village and serves as a chapel to support babies and help with childbirth and growth. On January 15th of the lunar calendar, they celebrate the peace of the village every year.
⊙Mansongjeong - Natural Monument No.473 - 40:50
This pine forest was created to complement the feng shui deficiencies and protect the villages. This place is also where The Yangban enjoyed traditional play.
⊙Buyongdae - 43:36
Buyongdae is a place where you can see the Nakdong River and the whole village from a cliff of 64 m above sea level.
☞ Introduction to Hahoe Folk Village.
Andong Hahoe Folk Village is where the family of Ryu has lived for generations for 600 years. Ryu Un-ryong, a Confucian scholar, and Ryu Sung-ryong, a secretary in Joseon Dynasty, are famous.
The name of the village, 'Hahoe', means 'water', which means that the Nakdong River is winding its village in 'S' shape. Hahoe Village is located along mountains and rivers and is considered the best place for people to live in Feng Shui.
There is a 600-year-old Zelkova called 'Samsindang' in the middle of the village. All the houses in Hahoe Folk Village are built around the trees and look towards the river. It is very different from most houses in Korea being built look towards the south.
☞ Visited Elizabeth II of United Kingdom.
Queen Elizabeth II of UK visited the Andong Hahoe Folk Village on April 21, 1999, the home of Confucianism. That day was the Queen's 73rd birthday. The queen was delighted to receive Korean traditional birthdays from residents of the village and eat Korean food with chopsticks. The villagers showed the traditional dance to the queen. The queen and the attendants who watched it applauded and responded.
☞ Registered as a World Heritage Site.
Hahoe Folk Village was registered as the 10th World Heritage Site in Korea with the Gyeongju Yangdong Village at the 34th World Heritage Committee held in Brasilia, Brazil in July 2010.
According to the proposed resolution, the harmony and arrangement of the buildings here show the social structure of the Joseon Dynasty and the Confucian culture of Yangban. UNESCO appreciated the continuity of this tradition for many years.
UNESCO also appreciated the fact that the intangible cultural heritage related to the lives and beliefs of people such as literary works, artworks, academic and cultural achievements, community plays, and traditional ceremonial events of Korean Confucian scholars has been passed on for generations.
The reason why Hahoe Folk Village was listed as a World Heritage Site is that the lives of Koreans who have lived in harmony with nature have been recognized globally.

The Geumsansa is located in the heart of Moak mountain of Geumsan-myum, City of Gimje, Jeonbuk Province. It was founded in the King Beop's reign (Baekje Dynasty, AD 599) during the Era of Three States. The Master Jinpyo reconstructed and expanded Geumsansa as the main and fundamental temple for worshiping and practicing the Mireuk (Maitreya) Buddhism during the King Hyegong reign (Unified Silla Dynasty, AD 766). The current iron platform of the Maitreya Hall is the relics of this period. Originally, the 33 cheok (10m) Maitreya Statue was enshrined above this iron platform, but it was no longer inherited.
The Royal Preceptor Haeduck Wangsa (Goryo Dynasty, AD 1097), developed Geumsansa as the Greater Temple District including 86 shrine halls and 43 hermitages. This was the unprecedented religious & cultural golden age of Geumsansa. The most of stone cultural treasures in courtyard were made during this period.
Japanese ambassador due in S. Korea after nearly three-month absence

Japan's ambassador to South Korea is returning to Seoul after nearly three months out of the country.
He was recalled to Tokyo in January to protest the installation of a statue dedicated to wartime sex slavery victims... outside the Japanese consulate in Busan.
Japan's foreign minister Fumio Kishida said the ambassador and consul general to Busan will arrive back in South Korea on Tuesday afternoon.
Kishida explained Japan needs to get ready for the launch of a new Korean administration next month... and facilitate information-sharing to counter North Korea's threats.
Seoul's foreign ministry has expressed hope of more active communication between the two sides.
