STORYLINE:
A memorial service was held in Moscow's Saint Catherine's Church on Saturday for the victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon in the US.
The U.S. Ambassador to Russia, John Beyrle, as well as ambassadors from various European and Middle Eastern countries, attended the service, as well as Russian officials.
In his speech at the memorial service, Ambassador Beyrle said Russia and the U.S. were allies in the fight against what he called world terrorism.
Sixty five years ago the United States and Russia joined together to defeat the main source of danger in the world in the 20th century - intolerance and fascism. In the same way we are allies today in the fight against the main source of evil in the 21st century, Ambassador Beyrle said.
The Ambassador said that people were mourning not only the victims of the September 11 attack in the U.S. nine years ago, but also the victims of all terror acts around the world.
He also mentioned the recent attack in the Russia's south, saying it strengthened the U.S. and Russian determination to fight terrorism in order to protect children in both countries.
A suicide car bomber hit the central market of a major city in Russia's North Caucasus on Thursday, killing 17 and wounding more than 140 people.
The bombing on Thursday near the central market of Vladikavkaz, the capital of the North Ossetia republic, was the most serious attack in Russia since the March subway bombings in Moscow that killed 40 people.

Deel 4 van de BBC-serie All The Russias, a musical journey.
**Note: To cut costs and have all four DVDs fit neatly into an expensive looking box, the Chinese distributors of this set excluded the third documentary of the series, entitled Devils
Deel 4: Looking East,Looking West
This final programme evokes the love/hate relationship between Russia and her neighbours, oscillating between fear and loathing, envy and imitation.
We travel from the edge of the one-time empire - from Georgia and the wild mountains of the Caucasus and the remote steppes of Uzbekistan to the heart of Russia - and observe the cultural and musical impact of these conflicts has been vast, colourful and searing.
Gergiev concludes the series with an impassioned plea to preserve national identity in the face of invasion by Microsoft and Micky Mouse

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.
