The New Tallest Statue in the World Is Twice the Size of the Statue of Liberty
The new tallest statue in the world is set to be unveiled this week in India. The so-called Statue of Unity is a likeness of a political leader named Sardar Patel. At nearly 800 feet, it's twice the size of the Statue of Liberty. It took five years, and cost over $400 million, to build. Sardar Patel was one of the founding fathers of modern India. He helped India gain its independence from the UK, and helped unify the Indian state. He died in 1950.

Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without this seasonal favorite, in which a young girl's enchanted present leads her on a wonderful adventure.
In this recording The Royal Ballet performs the Waltz of the Snowflakes in The Nutcracker, with Meaghan Grace Hinkis as Clara, Ricardo Cervera as the Nutcracker and Gary Avis as Drosselmeyer, accompanied by the London Oratory Junior Choir and the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, conducted by Koen Kessels, recorded in 2012.
Pyotr Il'yich Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker score was commissioned by the director of the Russian Imperial Theatres, following the resounding success of Sleeping Beauty in 1890. Marius Petipa created the scenario – based on a fairytale by E. T. A. Hoffman – and Lev Ivanov provided the choreography. The Nutcracker was first performed in 1892 at the Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg. It initially had a poor reception, but its combination of enchanting choreography and an unforgettable score have since made it one of the best-loved of all ballets.
In Peter Wright's classic production, the stage sparkles with theatrical magic – a Christmas tree grows before our eyes, toy soldiers come to life to fight the villainous Mouse King and Clara is whisked to the Land of Sweets on a golden sleigh. Tchaikovsky's score contains some of the best-known melodies in ballet, from the flurrying sounds of the Waltz of the Snowflakes to the dream-like Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy and the vigorous Russian Dance. Julia Trevelyan Oman's designs draw upon 19th-century images of Christmas, making this a classic production for the festive season.

Фрагмент будущего фильма о Батуми, рассказывающий о скульптурной группе Али и Нино

Статуя «Али и Нино» олицетворяет героев одноименного произведения Курбана Саида — азербайджанского юношу Али, который полюбил грузинскую девушку Нино.
Архитектор памятника грузинский скульптор Тамара Квеситадзе.
Семиметровые скульптуры примечательны тем, что каждый вечер фигуры Али и Нино, меняя положение каждые десять минут, медленно двигаются навстречу друг другу, до тех пор пока не сольются в одно целое. После этого начинается обратный процесс, а затем всё по новой. Памятник эффектно подсвечивается.
Идея создания памятника берет начало из истории любви между грузинской девушкой Нино и азербайджанским юношей Али, которые принадлежали разной национальности и разному вероисповеданию, чего не могли принять их семьи.
На протяжении своей жизни герои сливаясь в единое целое, стараются преодолевать преграды, чтобы быть вместе. Преодолев все преграды, влюблённые женятся. Но в финале герой погибает, оставляя героиню на руках с маленькой дочерью. Жизненная трагедия передаётся в их железных образах всего за 10 минут, что в ночную пору выглядит как танец любви. Поэтому многие семиметровую, светящуюся ночью скульптуру называют статуей Любви.
Над архитектурным произведением Тамара работала около двух лет, и в 2007 году скульптура была полностью готова и представлена публике на итальянском биеннале в городе Венеция. Затем статую демонстрировали в Лондоне. Скульптурное произведение понравилось всем, кто видел её в движении. Две статуи в течение 10 минут медленно двигаются навстречу друг к другу, сливаются в одно целое, а затем медленно расходятся и удаляются друг от друга. Вначале видна встреча влюблённых, затем тяга друг к другу, страстный поцелуй в порыве вспыхнувшей любви, и в конце их неминуемая разлука и отдаление друг от друга.
Вдохновение Тамара Квеситадзе получила после прочтения романа «Али и Нино», написанного в 1937 году.
После установки скульптуры было принято решение поменять первоначальное название скульптурного произведения «Мужчина и женщина» на «Али и Нино».

PART 2: Inspector General FISA Investigation President Trump - Senate Hearing
The U.S. attorney who is conducting a wide-ranging investigation of the origins of the Trump-Russia probe released a rare statement Monday saying he disagrees with conclusions of the so-called FISA report -- after DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz found in that review that the probe's launch largely complied with DOJ and FBI policies.
“Based on the evidence collected to date, and while our investigation is ongoing, last month we advised the Inspector General that we do not agree with some of the report’s conclusions as to predication and how the FBI case was opened,” U.S. Attorney John Durham said in a statement.
Horowitz released his report Monday saying his investigators found no intentional misconduct or political bias surrounding efforts to launch that 2016 probe and to seek a highly controversial Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrant to monitor former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page in the early months of the investigation. Still, it found that there were significant concerns with how certain aspects of the investigation were conducted and supervised.
“I have the utmost respect for the mission of the Office of Inspector General and the comprehensive work that went into the report prepared by Mr. Horowitz and his staff,” Durham said. “However, our investigation is not limited to developing information from within component parts of the Justice Department. Our investigation has included developing information from other persons and entities, both in the U.S. and outside of the U.S.”
As Horowitz has conducted his review of DOJ actions during the Russia probe, Durham, the U.S. attorney for Connecticut, has also been conducting a wider inquiry into alleged misconduct and alleged improper government surveillance on the Trump campaign during the 2016 presidential election.
Fox News reported in October that Durham's ongoing probe has transitioned into a full-fledged criminal investigation.
Meanwhile, Attorney General William Barr ripped the FBI’s “intrusive” investigation after the release of Horowitz’s review, saying it was launched based on the “thinnest of suspicions.”
“The Inspector General’s report now makes clear that the FBI launched an intrusive investigation of a U.S. presidential campaign on the thinnest of suspicions that, in my view, were insufficient to justify the steps taken,” Barr said in a statement.
Barr expressed frustration that the FBI continued investigating the Trump campaign, even as “exculpatory” information came to the light.
