1936 STEAM LOCOMOTIVE JAPAN
My Channel:
In this video I am standing beside an old steam locomotive from 1936, this train was used in Japan from 1936 to 1940. Interesting if you like trains or old trains. I was actually able to go inside the main part of it where the conductor would sit and load coal into the furnace to run the engine.

For one week in the end of March, Cherry-Blossoms bloom along Hisatsu Line. We can see beautiful pink flowers from SL Hitoyoshi.
Steam train arrive at Tsuwano Japan
Double Header steam train from Yamaguchi-City to Tsuwano.
The train runs most weekends and is called Yamaguchi-Go and is pulled by C56 and C57. On the trip back to Yamaguchi it is coming back down from the mountains, so the loco's are on the front and back.
We travel on the trip back and it was wonderful. Japanese trains have windows at every seat that opens from the top and bottom. So you can open the bottom window and hear the engines. No Elf and Safety police here, so no problem sticking your head out or your camera. Mind you it is single track, so the only thing you would hit is a branch.
Back home now and still having bits of soot falling out my hair
Kyo Train Garaku.
Hankyu Rail load company is running special train named “Garaku “.
I road on the special train May 4th 2019 from Umeda station which was the terminal station of Hankyu Railroad. As I took first train to Kyoto, it was hard to take even a photograph because it was crowded.

The overall design concept of the train was overseen by industrial designer Eiji Mitooka. The name of the train is derived from the seven prefectures of Kyushu and the fact that the train is made up of seven cars.
The dedicated diesel locomotive, DF200-7000, for the train was built by Kawasaki Heavy Industries in Kobe, based on the JR Freight Class DF200 locomotive, modified for use in Kyushu and finished in a livery of deep maroon. It was completed in July 2013. The coaches are based on the 817 series EMU body design and are mounted on 787 series EMU bogies. Manufacture of the passenger coaches was split between Hitachi in Kudamatsu, Yamaguchi, and JR Kyushu's Kokura Works in Kitakyushu.
Train formation
The train consists of the DF200-7000 locomotive and seven coaches: five sleeping cars, a lounge car, and a dining car, with a total capacity of 28 passengers. The rear car of the train features two deluxe suites with observation windows at the end.[2] All suites have their own toilets and shower facilities, designed in porcelain by the late Sakaida Kakiemon XIV. The total cost of building the train was approximately 3 billion yen.

New-Look Railway Museum: A Wonderland of Japan's Railway History Aired: Friday, July 27, 2018
The Railway Museum in Saitama Prefecture boasts a large collection of trains dating back to the dawn of Japan's railway history. The museum is home to classic steam locomotives and commuter trains, as well as the high-speed Shinkansen. The Railway Museum also features Japan's largest railway diorama, along with a variety of train simulators that can be enjoyed by children, adults and railway fans alike. In addition, a new section of the museum hosts an exhibition that considers the work, history and future of railways. See the new-look museum since its renewal in July 2018. Also, take a ride on the nearest steam locomotive to Tokyo, Chichibu Railway's SL Paleo Express.

jr 500
The 500 series (500系 500-kei) is a Shinkansen high-speed train type operated by West Japan Railway Company (JR-West) on the Tōkaidō Shinkansen and San'yō Shinkansen lines in Japan since 1997. They were designed to be capable of 320 km/h (200 mph) but operated at 300 km/h (185 mph), until they were finally retired from the primary Nozomi service in 2010. The trainsets were then refurbished and downgraded to the all-stations Kodama service between Shin-Osaka and Hakata.
The general design concept was overseen by German industrial designer Alexander Neumeister. The running gear utilizes computer-controlled active suspension for a smoother, safer ride, and yaw dampers are fitted between cars for improved stability. All sixteen cars in each original trainset were powered, giving a maximum of 18.24 MW (24,460 hp). Each train cost an estimated 5 billion yen, and only nine were built.
The Nozomi 500 is a strange exception of technological development. An evolution in a direction that had no ancestors and no successors. It looks like an exeptional leap forward for a highspeed bullet-train concept that has set a futuristic landmark, that has not yet been surpassed. In the contrary: The development of high speed trains in the 21 century seems to move rather backwards in comparison to this futuristic developments and radical achievements. The second new aspect in Japanese highspeed train design: The shape (exterior and interior) has been developed and consulted by German designer Alexander Neumeister from Munich.
Alexander Neumeister (born 17 December 1941) is a German industrial designer from Berlin. He gained recognition for his designs of the ICE and Transrapid for which he received the German Design Award. The brand ICE has 100% recognition in Germany. He also designed Japanese Shinkansen trains including 500 Series Shinkansen, the German DMU Talent and the C-Wagen of the Munich subway.

my japanese steam locomotive train ride
this is the SL Banetsu Monogatari 「SLばんえつ物語」 that runs from Niigata City, Niigata Prefecture to Aizu-Wakamatsu, Fukushima Prefecture.
it runs yearly from April to November almost every weekend. this also happens to be one of the few used steam engine locomotives that continues service in japan.
the SL Banetsu Monogatari has 5 passenger cars, 1 service car which offers bento lunches, drinks, and souvenirs, and 1 observation car that offers big windows to enjoy the beautiful scenery between niigata and fukushima prefectures. the complete trip takes about 3 and a half hours, but you can board and get off at other stops along the way.
seriously though, ive traveled on a lot of trains throughout japan and this is one of the best. its only 510 yen more to ride this than the local train and its easy one of the most memorable things ive done since coming to japan. not bad for just 510 yen.

Driving through a nearly abandoned village ほぼ捨てられた日本の村を介して駆動 - Abandoned Japan 日本の廃墟
This video came about at the end of a long day of hiking in an area I call the deep mountains. It's my favorite area to explore largely due to the near utter absence of any human activity in the regions beyond the last village. The very first time I (accidentally) discovered this valley my interest was piqued when I asked an elderly farmer at the edge of the last village (I didn't know at the time that it was the last village) what I would found in the mountains beyond. He looked me in the eye and said calmly nothing. I knew then that I had found the area where I would enjoy many adventures. The village in this video is the second-to-last village before the start of nothing. I once knew all of the residents here though now nearly all of the people are gone save a few very old women and one ancient man who has always been kind to me though he has never once opened his mouth to utter a single word.

THE PATH OF WILDNESS
The Path of Wildness is easy to find
The course of a stream
Leaves blown in the wind
A beast's track through the brush
And the direction of our first inclination
The Path of Wildness is an answer and response to a prescribed way of life which may leave some individuals with a sense that their living is little more than a series of pre-determined, step-like episodes between birth and death. The stages of living between these events: childhood, adolescence, adulthood, parenthood and senior are themselves natural and in accord with the needs of the species and most individuals. Many find their satisfaction in living this course and to these individuals I have little or nothing to say. Others though long for something more; something innate, genetic and seemingly calling. Adventure and change can give a degree of satisfaction and relief yet even these may seem too tame. To those who feel drawn to something beyond the entertainment and stimulation of senses I offer a walk along The Path of Wildness. Don't bother penciling the event in your schedule, preparing a pack with goodies and supplies or even inviting a friend along, for this experience is along the course of your first inclination and you must surely always go alone.
