General Safety in Tanzania for Climbing Kilimanjaro & Safaris | Trek Tips
➤ Safety is always a concern, so is Tanzania safe? Generally, yes, but there are definitely steps to ensure that your safety is a top priority. Watch to learn about safety in Tanzania from the experts who visit regularly and professionally!
****************************************************************************************************************************
Tanzania doesn’t have much political unrest or large-scale issues like that. The main things to be concerned about are: not drinking the tap water, not traveling at night, avoiding the impoverished parts of town with higher crime rates, and making sure not to contract malaria by taking anti-malaria medication (like Malarone). Over 1 million tourists visit Tanzania yearly with excellent safety, and WWT can help make that happen!

Ever since traveling for me meant to be active. I was taking on new outdoor challenges every year from skiing in the Alps to rafting in South America, Biking trips in North America and several multi-day trekking adventures in places like Patagonia, Peru or Kyrgyzstan. This year I was ready for the next step: climbing one of the seven summits. When G Adventures asked me to become part of their Wanderers program I saw my chance to take on the highest mountain in Africa as one of their brand ambassadors….but little did I know how hard this endeavour would be….
Unlike other trips this one started actually 5 months before the first day of trekking…I worked on my fitness, changed my diet and did a lot of research on Mt. Kilimanjaro. I decided to take on the Lemosho route which is 56 kilometers long and takes altogether 8 days - my decision was based on 2 reasons: one was the fact that the itinerary of this route is the best for acclimatization of the body to the high altitude and the resulting high summit success rate (which is at 96% for G Adventures), the other reason is the beauty of the route which is often described as the most picturesque and spectacular of all popular routes.
Located in North East Tanzania Mount Kilimanjaro is with 5895m the highest mountain in Africa which makes it one of the seven summits. Apart from that it is also the highest free standing mountain in the world. Kilimanjaro is a dormant volcano with three three volcanic cones, Kibo, Mawenzi, and „Shira“. The highest point is located on Kibo - after the independence of Tanzania it was named Uhuru Peak in 1964 - which is Kiswhali and translates into „freedom Peak“.
--About my Cooperation with G Adventures--
For many years I was searching for a suitable partner who offers outdoor tours which align with my style of traveling as well as my values. After many meetings I’m glad I found this partner with G Adventures who offer many adventurous tour packages for travelers like me…but who also care about the environment and local communities in order to execute sustainable tourism. I forced this cooperation because I like the products and the philosophy of the company. Nevertheless all opinions, recommendations and views are my own.

GoPro Driving Tour of Moshi, Tanzania (Africa)
THIS VIDEO IS DEDICATED TO THOSE OF YOU WHO MAKE IT POSSIBLE FOR US TO LIVE & WORK IN THIS AMAZING NATION!! WE'RE GRATEFUL FOR YOUR SUPPORT & ENCOURAGEMENT.
Video Description // We recently moved to Moshi & have been driving around to get familiar with the town and some of the surrounding areas. We also love to help people understand where we are and why we're here, so we figured it'd be fun to mount our GoPro up on the windshield every once in a while to capture some of the beauty of the land and people.
This is no means a comprehensive driving tour -- there's MUCH more to see -- but it'll definitely give you a little idea of what it's like, whether you're following our journey, wanting to climb majestic Mount Kilimanjaro or go on a Safari... or you're simply a lover of people & culture :)
Either way, hope you enjoy this and please let us know if you have questions, comments, or ideas of things you think we should capture on camera. Peace!

MOSHI - TANZANIA
In February of 2013 I climbed Mt. Meru (14,980') & Mt. Kilimanjaro (19,341') as an awareness/fundraising event for the Rochester, NY based group called Journeys of Inspiration. While there we had a little bit of time to travel around Moshi and this video shows a few of the sights and sounds that we encountered along the way.

School to Student Foundation - Step Up Centre, Moshi, Tanzania
Step Up Centre is a school/daycare located in Moshi, Tanzania. After working there for 5 weeks, teaching the preschoolers English, I realized I wanted to help sponsor these children, so that their families could work while their children were taken care of. Early education is important in Tanzania because they learn both English and Swahili in order to thrive in Primary and Secondary School later on in life.

How to Train for Mount Kilimanjaro
One of the famed seven summits of mountaineering, and the largest free standing mountain in the world, Mount Kilimanjaro is no walk in the park. But, with a little time, and some training, including hiking, trail running, and mountaineering, the mountain can be summitted by many people, no matter what route one takes. This video covers how I trained for Kilimanjaro, and provides some tips for potential climbers.
