This Is Maine - Episode 6 - Bangor
Stephen King Spooked by Recent Clown Sightings
Best-selling U.S. horror author Stephen King says that he is not surprised by the run of creepy clown sightings in South Carolina that has perplexed authorities. The writer, whose 1986 novel It tells the story of an evil supernatural being that appears as a clown, told the Bangor Daily News recently that a fear of clowns touches a nerve with both children and adults. King explained, Kids love clowns, but they also fear them. The clown furor will pass, as these things do, but it will come back, because under the right circumstances, clowns really can be terrifying. King admitted in the interview that he'd be unnerved himself to find a clown prankster near his home in Bangor, Maine, adding, If I saw a clown lurking under a lonely bridge I’d be scared, too.

In this lecture, Mr. Stephen Spignesi covers King’s complete body of work, beginning with very rare, unpublished juvenilia, continuing through King’s college writings, his first short stories, and his breakout novel, Carrie. Mr. Spignesi's presentation includes details on King’s life, as well as his novels, short stories, his epic Dark Tower series, and the finest film adaptations of King’s work. Mr. Spignesi also presents an extensive and exclusive slideshow of memorable Stephen King images and moments.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.
