KINNABER VIADUCT AND THE A92 BRIDGE NEAR MONTROSE. SCOTLAND.

Kinnaber was the scene of racing trains when the east coast lines (Great Northern Railway, North Eastern Railway and North British Railway) and west coast lines (London and North Western Railway and Caledonian Railway) were trying to prove which route was the quickest from London to Aberdeen. Kinnaber was the most important location in these races as whichever train got to this location first would reach Aberdeen first, there being no other route. It is said that sometimes the east coast trains were held up for the west coast trains - the junction signal box belonging to the Caledonian Railway------ someone was CHEATING ha haaaaa
You are now able to walk over The River North Esk using the former railway line. This rubble-built viaduct was opened in 1865 by the Montrose and Bervie Railway which carried the track over the River North Esk to the north of Montrose. The railway was closed in 1966, but in 2002 the viaduct was refurbished and re-opened as a footpath and cycle run. The road bridge carries the A92 road over the River North Esk north of Montrose. It was built between 1770 and 1775 by the engineers John Adam, John Smeaton and Andrew Barrie. Of course, for horse and carriage - our transport is much wider today and it is one-way traffic now!
Also known as The Lower North Water Bridge, built in 1775, this beautiful bridge carries the A92 road over the River North Esk. The river serves as the boundary between Angus and Aberdeenshire (formerly Kincardineshire) and it is noteworthy that the railingS stop neatly in the middle of the bridge. The bridge is listed, category A.

As Glasgow prepares to welcome the world in 2014, The Tin Forest invites the people of Glasgow to retell the city's story, to reimagine its future and to take part in the reinvention of the iconic South Rotunda into a remarkable performance space for theatre-makers and artists from all over the Commonwealth.

As part of Festival 2014, the Commonwealth Games-time Glasgow based strand of the Glasgow 2014 Cultural Programme, The Tin Forest at the South Rotunda will play host to an immersive puppet experience, a large scale visual art installation, live music and an international theatre festival featuring companies from Scotland, England, Jamaica, New Zealand, Bangladesh, Malta and India.
