Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, encompasses 14 islands and more than 50 bridges on an extensive Baltic Sea archipelago. The cobblestone streets and ochre-colored buildings of Gamla Stan (the old town) are home to the 13th-century Storkyrkan Cathedral, the Kungliga Slottet Royal Palace and the Nobel Museum, which focuses on the Nobel Prize. Ferries and sightseeing boats shuttle passengers between the islands
Djurgården or, more officially, Kungliga Djurgården (Swedish: The (Royal) Game Park) is an island in central Stockholm, Sweden. Djurgården is home to historical buildings and monuments, museums, galleries, the amusement park Gröna Lund, the open-air museum Skansen, the small residential area Djurgårdsstaden, yacht harbours, and extensive stretches of forest and meadows. It is one of the Stockholmers' favorite recreation areas and tourist destinations alike, attracting over 10 million visitors per year, of which some 5 million come to visit the museums and amusement park. The island belongs to the National City park founded in 1995. Since the 15th century the Swedish monarch has owned or held the right of disposition of Royal Djurgården. Today, this right is exercised by the Royal Djurgården Administration which is a part of the Royal Court of Sweden.
A larger area of the city, separated from Djurgården proper by Djurgårdsbrunnsviken is Norra Djurgården (Northern Djurgården), including Gärdet.

Living the City - Running In Stockholm
Stockholm is a perfect place to run.
When you’re out in Stockholm you can’t avoid noticing how much this city loves running.
But before you slip into your running shoes there are a few thing to consider when running in the city.
Number 1 the company: You can do it alone or join a running crowd like Ssideline City.
Number 2 the clothes: You have to have the right clothes according to the temperature.
Number 3 the running track:There are paved tracks that take you around beautiful landmarks but there are also ground tracks across woody parks where one can be as close to nature as one can without leaving the city.
Årstaviken
Here you can run along the water pretty much all the time during your running session. There is a mix of paved and ground tracks.
A plus when you choose running around Årstaviken is the outdoor gym area.
Södermalm
Running around Stockholm’s south side island is more or less a total of 10 km.
Because this track takes you from parks to busy streets this is the track where you get seen but you also enjoy scenic views of Djurgården, Gamla Stan and Kungsholmen.
Rålambshovsparken/Kungsholmen
It’s a preferred track by many runners because it mixes perfectly the green areas of a park with some paved tracks around Kungholmen's fancy water side. Not to mention the many options in restaurants and bars to stop by for rewarding refreshments after your running session.
Djurgården
The place to go when you want to have a relaxed time away from the noise of the city. Here you can run by the water and be in contact with the beautiful nature of the island.
Hagaparken
Is perhaps the most peaceful of the tracks for it’s think forest like areas and the fact that it’s not so city central.

Sweden Celebrates Royal Wedding As Couple Tour Stockholm in Carriage
Sweden's Prince Carl Philip, 36, married Sofia Hellqvist, 30, on Saturday in the chapel of the Royal Palace in Stockholm in front of friends and members of the royal family.
The bride, a former reality star and glamour model, looked every bit a princess and channeled Kate Middleton by opting for long-sleeves, lace and a long train. She wore a white open V-neck wedding dress with long lace sleeves, an empire waist and a long lace-trimmed train, which kept her star-shaped tattoo between her shoulder blades revealed. After the ceremony, thousands of fans greeted the couple outside. They were then driven in a horse-drawn carriage through Stockholm before returning to the palace again for the wedding reception, Reuters reported, quoting the prince as telling the crowd, It shows Sweden is a warm country with lots of love, before kissing his bride, drawing applause.

Running in Stockholm
Stockholm offers a wide variety of landscapes to run. I ran through some of the rather interesting routes to get to the TV tower from where you can get an impressive aerial view of the city.
It's a funny audio track BTW!

Stockholm Travel Guide - Sweden Memorable Moments
Stockholm Travel Guide - Sweden Memorable Moments
Stockholm is the capital and largest city of Sweden, with nearly 2 million inhabitants within its vicinities. The inner city is made up of 14 islands connected by some 50 bridges on Lake Mälaren, which flows into the brackish Baltic Sea, and passes the Stockholm archipelago with some 24,000 islands and islets. Stockholm is a cosmopolitan place with both classical and modern architecture, and a captivating Old Town, Gamla Stan.
Despite its northern location, Stockholm has fairly mild temperatures throughout the year. As a result of its northerly latitude, the city sees a dramatic seasonal variation in sunlight, from more than 18 hours of daylight around midsummer, to around 6 hours of daylight in late December.
Storstockholms Lokaltrafik, SL (Stockholm Public Transport) runs an extensive subway, commuter train and bus system as well as some light rail and ferry services, all using an integrated ticket system called SL Access. Stockholm has a metro system called the Tunnelbana, commonly abbreviated T-bana, and symbolised with a blue T on a round white sign. With exactly 100 stations, it is extensive for a city of this size, and will get you around almost all the downtown places as well as many inner suburbs.
Districts of Stockholm :
The inner city
Norrmalm
Norrmalm contains the central business district known as City, with several department stores and shopping malls, museums, hotels and restaurants.
Östermalm
Östermalm is an affluent borough, including Nationalstadsparken, the National City Park. The Stureplan square is a hub for upmarket shopping and nightlife. Södra Djurgården or simply Djurgården is an island-park, with several major tourist venues - the Skansen open air museum, the Gröna Lund amusement park, and the Vasa Museum.
Gamla Stan
An island with great waterfront views, the northern part of the Old Town is dominated by the Royal Palace and the Swedish Parliament.
Södermalm
Södermalm is a rugged island with buildings of all ages. It is always commonly referred to as Söder (The South). Fjällgatan offers some of the best views of Stockholm and the Baltic Sea inlet.
Kungsholmen
Kungsholmen is an island at the western inner city, with Stadshuset (Stockholm City Hall) at its eastern tip.
Suburbs and bordering towns
Western Suburbs
The Western suburbs, Västerort, were built up during the late 20th century. Stockholm-Bromma Airport dominates the area. Vällingby, founded in the 1950s, is one of Europe's first planned suburbs. Solvalla is a prominent horse-race stadium. Kista is an international centre of information technology.
Northern Suburbs
Solna and Sundbyberg, just north of central Stockholm, are two separate cities within the Storstockholm. Danderyd and Täby, to the north-east, are affluent municipality suburbs that can be reached by underground and bus or Roslagsbanan.
Stockholm archipelago
Vaxholm is the gateway to the northern Stockholm archipelago. Värmdö, the largest island, similar to the mainland. Sandhamn, a resort-island in the outer archipelago. Utö, a rural island with an abandoned silver-mine.
Lidingö
Lidingö is a separate city within the Storstockholm (Greater Stockholm) area.
Ekerö
