Visiting Joshua Tree National Park, California With Gabriel Traveler
Ready for a visit Joshua Tree National Park in Southern California? I got together with fellow travel vlogger here on YouTube- Gabriel Traveler and headed out in the California desert to take a day trip from San Diego and examine the whimsical Joshua Trees at Joshua Tree National Park. Check out Gabriel’s channel at ▶︎
Enjoy our Joshua Tree videos including several sites such as The Cholla Cactus Gardens, Ryan Mountain, Live Oak, Skull Rock and more. We encounter plenty of danger between climbing and practicing a bit of yoga on the super sized rocks, getting up close with the jumping cacti, and even spotting a wild coyote at the campground. Joshua Tree was an outstanding experience and easily one of the best National Parks in California.

A Thriving Desert - Joshua Tree National Park
Located just two hours east of Los Angeles, Joshua Tree National Park is a one-of-a-kind desert getaway that boasts some of the most dramatic scenery in southern California. From the weird and wonderful Mojave Desert to the vast and stark Sonoran Desert, lies one of North America’s most strange and surreal environments—Joshua Tree National Park. The twisted trees, impossible rock formations, and other-worldly geography of Joshua Tree have enticed rock climbers and rock stars alike to explore this desert wonderland. Described by early settlers as, “The most repulsive tree in the vegetable kingdom,” the Joshua tree is endemic to the southwest and is an indicator species of the Mojave Desert Hidden Valley - surrounded by towering rocks and was used as a hideout by cattle wrestlers in 1800s
Keys View – Bask in panoramic views of Palm Springs and Coachella valley from one of the highest points in the park
Ryan Mountain – a dramatic hike that offers sweeping views in the heart of Joshua Tree
49 Palms Oasis - this gorgeous palm oasis, reached by a moderate trail, is one of the finest destinations in the park
Arch Rock Nature Trail – stroll along fantastic border formations in route to a dramatic natural stone arch
Cholla Cactus Garden - this magnificent garden of multicolored cacti is one of the most surreal sites in the park
Hike to this “Lost” Palm Oasis nestled in a remote Canyon and reached by a 3.5 mile trail
Thank you for watching and happy travels to you! We would appreciate a thumbs-up, SUBSCRIBE, COMMENT, and/or SHARE.

Joshua Tree - California - A quick look with DP of the landscape
Just a bit of a look at Joshua Tree California. The trees and boulders and rocks are one of the most unique places. Joshua trees, so named by Mormon settlers who saw the branches as reaching up toward heaven, grow.
It is considered many as one of the best places to rock climb in California - camp, and many great hikes. It is a 3 hour drive from LA - and 1 hour from Palm Springs. It is a small town - a place to find yourself - reflect outside of the hussle of big city life.
U2 named their Album in the late 80's Joshua Tree - which also drew much attention to the area and introduced the Joshua Tree to the world on it's album cover.

Lost Palms Oasis Hike in Joshua Tree National Park
Joshua Tree National Park has lots of popular hikes, especially in the center area of the park. If you are looking for something unique on the outskirts though then check out this hike to the Los Palms oasis. It is a great half day hike with nice views and a fun oasis payoff.

From Wikipedia:
Death Valley National Park is an American national park that straddles the California—Nevada border, east of the Sierra Nevada. The park boundaries include Death Valley, the northern section of Panamint Valley, the southern section of Eureka Valley, and most of Saline Valley. The park occupies an interface zone between the arid Great Basin and Mojave deserts, protecting the northwest corner of the Mojave Desert and its diverse environment of salt-flats, sand dunes, badlands, valleys, canyons, and mountains. Death Valley is the largest national park in the lower 48 states, and the hottest, driest and lowest of all the national parks in the United States. The second-lowest point in the Western Hemisphere is in Badwater Basin, which is 282 feet (86 m) below sea level. Approximately 91% of the park is a designated wilderness area. The park is home to many species of plants and animals that have adapted to this harsh desert environment. Some examples include creosote bush, bighorn sheep, coyote, and the Death Valley pupfish, a survivor from much wetter times. UNESCO included Death Valley as the principal feature of its Mojave and Colorado Deserts Biosphere Reserve in 1984.
A series of Native American groups inhabited the area from as early as 7000 BC, most recently the Timbisha around 1000 AD who migrated between winter camps in the valleys and summer grounds in the mountains. A group of European-Americans, trapped in the valley in 1849 while looking for a shortcut to the gold fields of California, gave the valley its name, even though only one of their group died there. Several short-lived boom towns sprang up during the late 19th and early 20th centuries to mine gold and silver. The only long-term profitable ore to be mined was borax, which was transported out of the valley with twenty-mule teams. The valley later became the subject of books, radio programs, television series, and movies. Tourism expanded in the 1920s when resorts were built around Stovepipe Wells and Furnace Creek. Death Valley National Monument was declared in 1933 and the park was substantially expanded and became a national park in 1994.
The valley is actually a graben with the oldest rocks being extensively metamorphosed and at least 1.7 billion years old. Ancient, warm, shallow seas deposited marine sediments until rifting opened the Pacific Ocean. Additional sedimentation occurred until a subduction zone formed off the coast.
In 2013, Death Valley National Park was designated as a dark sky park by the International Dark-Sky Association.

Sequoia National Park - Biggest trees in the world
2 days exploring the Sequoia National park, the biggest trees in the world! Are Sequoias bigger than redwoods? Why do sequoias need fire?
We decided to stay two full days in this amazing forest of giant trees, in the middle of California, USA. After driving in a dry desert, we arrived in the Sequoia forest on the top of a high altitude mountain. While we were there, we enjoyed our time visiting pretty much everything in the Sequoia National Park:
- General Sherman, the biggest tree in the whole world;
- Moro rock, a breathtaking viewpoint on the top of the sequoia forest;
- Beetle rock, a stunning place to see the sunset and take in the fresh air.
- Tunnel log, where you can drive your car through a giant tree.
- Giant trees trail, the perfect hike to learn more about the Sequoias;
- The Senate group, a bunch of giant sequoia trees all grouped together, highly impressive!
Learn more about the Sequoias with our mini Sequoia Documentary!

WATER IN THE DESERT!! XLII
Thanks for watching!!
Joshua Tree National Park
Barker Dam, also known as the Big Horn Dam, is a water-storage facility located in Joshua Tree National Park in California. The dam was constructed by early cattlemen, including CO Barker, in 1900. It was raised in 1949 by rancher William F. Keys. It is situated between Queen Valley and the Wonderland of Rocks near the Wall Street Mill. It is a gathering place for desert wildlife, including many species of birds and Desert Bighorn Sheep. Visitors can reach the dam via a short trail from a nearby parking lot and can see Native American petroglyphs a short distance to the west. There is also good bouldering on side trails near the dam. The park offers a Barker Dam Nature Hike led by a ranger. The lowest nine feet of the dam, the original portion, was constructed of concrete surfaced with stone on the downstream side. The height of the dam was raised an additional six feet with concrete in 1949-1950. The dam has several indentations.
The Barker Dam Loop trail is 1.5 miles (2.4 km) round trip and has little elevation gain. It goes from the parking lot at Barker Dam, past the dam and several good boulder climbing areas and a wall of petroglyphs. The trail offers good birding near the lake and at several spots along the trail that are surrounded by brush. It is a popular trail and is crowded midday.

Old West Desert Mountain Town at 3,600 feet (1,104 meters) above sea level (in southern California when as many as 2,000 to 10,000 to 20,000 people camp out in cottages and circle up in RV Round-Ups stretching for thirty miles from Randsburg to Johannesburg along US 395 south to California City, east of Mojave, 2-1/2 hours east of a totally different culture in Los Angeles. Off Roaders, Dirt Bikers and 4 Wheelers, love the basin and range with salt flats and endless twist and turn in the higher elevations of sagebrush hills and desert mountains in the warm southern California chaparral.
On the high end of Main Street in the Living Ghost Town of Randsburg only local artists show in the Randsburg Art Gallery. Randsburg resident population is not 70, not 50, but recently down to 48 people in the heart of this mountain side enclave of Bohemians living on the cool north slope.
Great views extend over mountain ranges Rand, El Paso and southern end of the Sierras to the northwest layering fifty miles deep into the Sierras at the far north of the Owens Valley greatly valued by many Wild West Hollywood movie directors including backgrounds for John Wayne films.
From the wide balcony of the Cottage Hotel at the high end of town, the northeast view looks over the tops of three mountain ranges advancing into lost desert basin and range, layering in greys from light to dark hiding mysteries of pioneers and prospectors of the Audacious Generation struggling against the Wild West impelled by burning visions inspired by travel guides and drawings of the 1850s overland journals telling wild stories of the greatest migration of people in the history of the world. Some of them pared off on the dry eastern drainage of the Sierras. People such as Seldom Seen Slim and desert homesteaders like the prior generations of Scrappy, manager of the Cottage Hotel, happy to be in the area all her life.
Antique phosphate sodas are thankfully not as sweet as many soda pops today.
In the Randsburg Art Gallery a hand painted map of southern California high desert depicts the highest elevation in the continental USA - Mount Whitney 14,495 feet above sea level in the Sequoia National Forest in the southern Sierra Nevada Mountains and a moderate distance to the east-southeast the lowest point in the United States - Death Valley at 282 feet BELOW sea level, too hot and too dry in the summer. In between are military reservations of Fort Irwin desert warfare and armored tank training center, China Lake Naval Weapons Center and Edwards Air Force Base. The map is a fresco 10 foot square. Off map to the northeast in southern Nevada is Nellis Bombing and Gunnery Range and off map to the south is experimental military aircraft development center - Skunk Works, famous since the 1950s with the X-1 to Right Stuff coming together in the X-15.
First Bank of Randsburg was open for six months then failed. Randall Hoot Smith is now the pleasant owner.
Erma Maw - Choctaw Indian Artist.
Scene from Darwin, mining ghost town in southern California. Artist uses as many as thirty layers of paint, many layers use translucent paint.
Randsburg centrally located for hiking in the Sierras of southern Tulare County and eastern Kern County, and also other marvels of the Mojave Desert in southern Inyo County.
Randsburg is about 1200 feet (368 meters) above the much hotter desert floor, hence it is good for overnight stays before heading to Death Valley National Monument or other areas in the Mojave Desert. Only three hours from Los Angeles, Randsburg is also due east of the southern tip of the Sierra.

UFO, the mysterious moving object that appears in the sky occasionally is claimed to have no orthodox scientific explanation regarding its existence. As per the prevailing belief they are flying saucer and the same can be a monster spaceships carrying real extraterrestrials through clouds. Nowadays, UFO sighting has been a matter of amusement rather than a concern, even though there are ample evidences about their scary appearance. However, in postmodern culture, where Alien Videos are common, the movement of UFO needs to be taken as a serious matter. The appearance of flying saucer and their real images caught on tape is a proof of Alien life and the same has ignited the curiosity of NASA. They are in a set out to find out the hidden secrets of the extraterrestrials in the Universe.
Unidentified Flying Objects are reported to have often observed by air force personnel in military during their preparation for encounters. They used to mistake these flying objects as the consequence of the conspiracy of their rival groups. Some of the latest UFO incidents are caught on video camera by these daredevils, and their video footage has generated a big question mark in front of science.

Mission Del Rio Carmelo (USA) Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Mission del Rio Carmelo in USA.
The stone-built church of the Mission San Carlos Borroméo De Carmelo rises above the southern district of the picturesque and romantic coastal town of Carmel in the United States.The Carmel Mission was founded in 1771 when Father Juniperro Serra, from Mallorca in Spain, was responsible for the building of the first missionary stations in the United States. The Mission possesses one of the most important and beautiful collections of religious works of art in California. Today only a few of the former twenty-one missions are in good condition. They were all once located alongside California’s six hundred kilometre King's Road and over the years Carmel’s unique climate has transformed the Mission’s gardens into an exotic paradise that contributes to the idyllic character of this religious complex. Right up to the present day the Carmel Mission has managed to retain several pages of American history that would otherwise have been lost forever.
