The Mortal Man
Continuing our training for this years Bullock Smithy Mauler Morris, Oscar Cavandish and moi travelled the short distance up the M6 motorway in to Cumbria and a little village called Troutbeck. From here we walked a 28 ish mile circular route to Great Rigg via. Ambleside, Loughrigg, Grasmere, Helm Cragg and Stone Arthur before returning via High and Low Pike and Ambleside. It was a tough walk but very enjoyable and the scenery was amazing. But dont just take my word for d it, check it out for yourself.

Lake District Walk 13 Silver How Grasmere 11/5/18
For our last walk we decided to go back to our favourite village, Grasmere and climb Silver How. This was not a difficult walk yet it was perfect for us as we wanted to just enjoy a lovely morning in the hills, taking our time and soaking in the beautiful views. Andrea also enjoyed some shopping at the end including more gingerbread!

Lake District - The Eastern Fells - The Greater Fairfield Horseshoe
Here Dave and I take on the Greater Fairfield Horseshoe in glorious weather. The Fell tops reached are Nab Scar, Heron Pike, Stone Arthur, Great Rigg, Fairfield, Hart Crag, Dove Crag, High Pike and Low Pike.
Over 8 years the Fat Boys have been helping a man achieve his dream of completing the 214 'Wainwrights' listed in his Pictorial Guides to the Lake District. Dave Galloway from Southend-On-Sea in Essex and now age 75 only just recovered from surgery following two bouts of Cancer. That coupled with other obstacles often put in his way, such as chronic cramps, blisters and awful crippling gout have not deterred him from making sure he makes the most of being given a second crack at life.
On this site we have documented in video every fell that Dave has conquered. The completion of his dream is now very near, watch it unfold on this YouTube site. Hope you enjoy this next small part of his challenge.

GRASMERE SPORTS
One big attraction at Grasmere was the hound trail. While the dogs were away, there was pole leaping, and a new pole record was set by Jamieson, the holder. Then, the Guides' Race: the course takes them up to a crag nearly a thousand feet above the arena. It was veteran Teasdale who won. Finally, there were nearly 200 Cumberland and Westmorland style wrestlers.

Lake District Walks: Beacon Tarn and Fell
A short walk across Blawith Common up to Beacon Tarn, and then on to the summit of Beacon Fell. However, what appears to be just a track through the bracken is much more. We're following in the footsteps of Arthur Ransome, writer of the Swallows and Amazons series of books, which were inspired by holidays in this part of the Lake District. We tell the story of how Ransome survived the Russian revolution, as well as explaining the importance of Beacon Fell in the Napoleonic Wars.
