Zadar In Your Pocket - Roman Forum
The Roman Forum - the largest on this side of the Adriatic - was founded by the first Emperor Augustus, as documented on two 3rd Century stone inscriptions on the site. A raised area on the west side was the site of a temple dedicated to Jupiter, Juno and Minerva. To one side a Pillar of Shame still stands, where naughty people were chained and pilloried. (A second one was taken away and now stands near the Three Wells Square). The Forum also comprised a basilica and rooms for council chambers and citizens' assemblies. Underneath was a colonnade where shops and workshops once stood. The site was only discovered in the 1930s. Allied bombers inadvertently assisted in the clearing process, and site was completely cleared and restored between 1964 and '67. One of the most beautiful things about these remains is the way that they are still a part of the fabric of the city. No signs forbid you to touch or sit on the stones.
Take time one evening to sit and imagine the bustle of the traders, the grandeur of the pagan temples and the horrors of the blood sacrifices that took place on the very altars you can see on this spot.

10 Things to do in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina Travel Guide Video Transcript: (Мостар)
Welcome to Mostar! In today’s video we’re showing you around one of the great gems of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Mostar was one of the many stops of our travels through the Balkans, but it ranked right at the very top! This city is as postcard-perfect as they come, complete with Ottoman constructions, soaring minarets, and colourful buildings that overlook the emerald waters of the Neretva River. Our time here was spent wandering through the markets, sampling local dishes, and visiting a few mosques and museums along the way, so come and join us in this travel guide as we show you around Mostar (Мостар) and give you a few ideas for your own trip!
This street is lined with restaurants, cafes, and hotels, but as you approach the famed Old Bridge, it turns into a bit of a bazaar with small shops that are bursting at the seams with souvenirs.
Stari Most, also known as the Old Bridge, which is the city’s main landmark. This 16th-century Ottoman bridge joins the two parts of the city across the River Neretva.
And that’s a wrap for Mostar! This was one of our favourite destinations of 2017.
With its Ottoman architectural wonders, delicious dishes served in heaping platters, and warm locals who take hospitality to a whole new level, there’s a lot to love about the city! Mostar is strikingly beautiful, but it’s the people who give the place its soul.
Yes, the city’s been through a lot, and it still bears the scars of a horrible war fought in the 90s, but Mostar has picked itself up and is showing visitors all it has to offer.
We hope you enjoyed getting to experience this city through our eyes on this travel guide, and as always, if you have any other suggestions of things to do in Mostar, feel free to share your tips with travellers in the comments below.

Umut (1970), Directors: Yilmaz Güney, Serif Gören (Multi Subs)
Croatian, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Spanish, Turkish subtitles...
Umut is the story of an illiterate man and his family, whose existence depends on his income as a horse cab driver. When one of his horses is killed by an automobile, and when it is clear that neither justice nor charity will prevail, the man, played by Güney, begins a slow slide into despair. On the advice of a local holy man, and fuelled by an indefatigable optimism, he sets out into the desert in quest of a mythical lost treasure, slipping further and further into that final, ineluctable moment where hope itself becomes the last terrible delusion.
