We bleven dit jaar nog even in de Afrika stemming. Na een geweldige zomervakantie in Zuid-Afrika gingen we met kerst naar Gambia. Een hele bijzondere ervaring! In deel 4 begon onze 2 daagse excursie landinwaarts. We vaarden met een pontje van Banjul naar Barra. Alles gaat mee op deze veerpont: kippen, koeien, geiten, auto's en heel veel mensen! We bezochten de Wassu stone circles en maakten een prachtige tocht over het water. Hier gingen we chimpansees en nijlpaarden spotten. Aangekomen bij onze overnachtingsplaats, kregen we een diner en een show bij het kampvuur van de vrouwen van het dorp. De enige verlichting die we daar hadden was dat van de kaars in de kamer en ook onze telefoon konden we niet opladen. De excursie gaat verder in deel 5. Veel kijkplezier!

The people of Sukuta have won back their ancestral forest , that was forcefully taken from them by the ex dictatorial military regime .
Even though the forest has been severely exploited and many plots have been sold to individuals and real estate agencies, the major parts of the forest has been saved .
And on this video , I am documenting their attempt to replant trees on the areas that have been mysteriously cleared (nobody knows by who and why...)

This is like a historic moment , the land officially belongs to the community instead of the state... It’s an exiting moment for the people ...
Personally Its a privileged to take part in such events .
