Biking Stoney Squaw in Banff National Park
Stoney Squaw in Banff National Park. Upper stoney squaw is a brutal climb but you're rewarded with nice scenery and a super fun, techy descent with loam, roots, rocks, and rich green moss. Lower stoney squaw is less technical, allowing you to let off the brakes more and enjoy some high speeds.
This is pretty popular hiking trail during peak summer season. Possibly best left for weekday evenings or off peak season.

Mt. EDITH Scramble (4K) - All 3 Summits - Banff National Park, Alberta
What an amazing scramble in Banff National Park! I have wanted to do this one for a few years but am just getting to it now. This is an EDITH 101 video of all 3 summits (Provided you have the skills), which shows the challenging areas of this climb. This video shows the route we took however other routes and lines up are definitely an option and should be considered.
To see the Cory Pass Approach here is the link -
First off, this is NOT a beginner scramble. It has the potential with the exposure in certain areas to be very dangerous and if off route potentially fatal. Also, make sure the weather is favorable as having wet rock will change the dynamics.
Now that I have scared you, what this climb does have is F...U...N!
I loved it and all the little different scrambling sections up each of the 3 peaks. From what I had read going into this scramble I expected the 2nd summit to be a cakewalk. It however had more scrambling than I thought it would. The 3rd summit being the most difficult as far as rating goes wasn't that bad at all I found. The traverse through the gully between summit 2 and 3 was likely the biggest challenge and could be very dangerous if there were multiple people in it at once.
Mt. Edith is a mountain just northwest of Banff on the 1A which starts at the Fireside Picnic area and offers 3 separate summits which are all accessible from a popular hiking trail. You head up Cory Pass to access the first of 3 summits heading north to south. The north and central peaks are moderate scrambles while the south summit is considered a difficult scramble. The north summit is the highest of the three.
Disclaimer - Always scramble within your own abilities. Thoroughly assess the situation and research the route. Just because I may have done this route at this time doesn't mean you can or should. GPS and/or a topo map are a valuable tool to help. Leave a route description behind with exact location should you not arrive home at a predetermined time. Have a way to contact rescue as well if you are in an area of no cell service(SPOT, Garmin, etc.). Also, if hiking in winter make sure you have the necessary skill and knowledge regarding unstable conditions and perform a proper risk assessment prior to engaging in this activity.

Cascade Mountain is a mountain located in the Bow River Valley of Banff National Park, adjacent to the town of Banff. The mountain was named in 1858 by James Hector after the waterfall or cascade on the southern flanks of the peak. The mountain has also been called Stoney Chief, which is related to the name of the smaller neighbouring mountain Stoney Squaw, which is still in use. Cascade is the highest mountain adjacent to the townsite.
The mountain can be climbed starting from the Norquay Ski Area base. The first portion is a fairly moderate hike, up to the Cascade Amphitheatre. Continuing upwards, the route ascends along the ridge edge until it reaches the crest where it dips before it rises to the false summit. While the false summit can be descended at its end, it is much easier to follow a trail around the western side along the exposed foot. Snow typically blocks this route almost until mid July and attempting it while snowy can entail considerable avalanche risk due to the slabby terrain and exposure. A long window of clear weather - full day - should be anticipated before attempting this climb, as many climbers have gotten into trouble and needed rescue (or died) when a storm suddenly blows in. The ascent normally takes 3 to 4 hours while the descent along the same path takes 2 to 3 hours.

Bow Meadows Summit hike Banff National Park Photots only. We were out pretty early trying to catch a bear in the area as they are known to be there. We didn't see one till another group came up and startled a grizzly laying in the grass 25 feet away from where we were taking pictures. Very peaceful area compared to Peyto lake viewpoint, only 10 people in 4 hours of being up there, great spot to go to get away
