The Railroad Museum Of Pennsylvania
After riding the Strasburg Railroad I went across the street to the Railroad museum of Pennsylvania to check out some of there equipment.
My visit to the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg
A place that is home to many historic locomotives and railroad equipment. But I look at this museum, and most other railroad museums, as more of a haven for these things. Many of the Equipment outside the museum, exposed to the elements, will eventually be taken into the restoration shops to be fixed up, and placed inside.

Not many people know since all the focus on RACO signals used to be so much more focused on Paradise Lane until it got upgraded. So far, the RACO equipment here is in quite good order as about 2 years since my last crossing combover, the only thing that's changed here is the angle of the bell.
This crossing has RACO hydraulic gates which are a rarity in the east as a whole. There are RACO 8 incandescent lights, more modern RECO gate lights and a RACO Mechanical Bell with a Griswold Molded cover.

Heroes avert disaster at Strasburg RR
No One Gets Hurt !!
My wife and I were enjoying the day with our daughter, son-in-law and grandson at Strasburg RR. I took a few short videos to save memories.
Stean Locomotives were never politically correct.
I don't want to even guess how much the liability insurance is for this place, but the best insurance is men like these. Hired to run the small Pufferbelly which is an operating scale model steam engine. It weighs a ton an won't stop on a dime, so the switchman clears the way. I'm a 70 year old adult and was standing on the painted line...he nicely moved me back. He was doing his job. When a little girl ran in front of the moving train these 2 men did a fantastic job of getting her off the tracks and stopping the train. They are heroes in my book. I made a comment to my family about the Mom hanging on to the girl, and our daughter noted the girl appeared to be autistic, which changes everything. No matter how you look at it, my hat's off to these 2 men doing their job !
(Somehow I lost the sound in editing )
Strasburg RR and Cass Railroad 1967
My Late Uncle Al took these two films with his 8mm movie camera back in the summer of 1967 .

Strasburg 475 Chuggin Into The Station
I went to Strasburg, PA the previous weekend and watched some trains of the Strasburg Railroad go by. The Strasburg RR is one of the oldest shortline railroads in the United States. They take you on train tours showing you the Dutch Countryside of Lancaster County passing through small towns such as Cherry Hill, Groff's Grove, Carpenters, and Paradise. Pulling these excursion and a few freight trains are many rare steam locomotives the company has aquired through the days of operation. One example would be old Norfolk & Western 475. Built in 1906 by Baldwin Locomotive Works it is the only known 4-8-0 steam locomotive still operating in North America to this date. Anyway, this train had a very friendly crew as everyone waved to the camera as Norfolk and Western 475 came chuggin into the station. Enjoy!
