Pub-goers stranded in beer garden by tidal flooding in west London
Footage of pub patrons stranded in a beer garden during seasonal flooding in Twickenham. The high tide in the area often causes the River Thames to burst its banks and flood the area around the White Swan pub. Cars were left submerged while residents struggled to cross roads.

My First Bite (Steven--London, England--Salieri)
This was quite an interesting place. Just from the outside you can when you walk by the name Salieri written in golden silk sheets. The atmosphere inside was quite different from any restaurant that I had ever been to. Don't look at the dangling lights inside for too long either because they are hung from vibrating vents so it could make you dizzy.
The waiters seemed to be pretty odd too. You could tell that they were trained to make every recommendation they gave the most expensive one on the menu including the wines, so it wasn't too genuine. Also, our waiter told us that the extra 12% on the tab wasn't his tip and that it goes to the restaurant. We had a gut feeling he was lying to us so we only added on 10% more. Turns out we were right. Very shady people working there. Wasn't the best food in the world but lets see what my brother thought of the Chicken Marne.. (more)

CRHnews - Dave 'Rifleman' Flanagan Big Breakfast Beefcake
Canadian ice hockey player Dave Flanagan got his 15 minutes of fame when he appeared briefly on the famous Big Breakfast and was interviewed by gorgeous Gabby Roslin.
The Charlottetown crackshot was at the time a sharpshootin import with Chelmsford Chieftains ice hockey team whose coach Jim 'Firetruck' Fuyarchuk spotted his potential while watching him represent Fredericton Canadiens, of the American Hockey League, who are affiliated to the Montreal Canadiens.
Flano told me: Hockey is still a fun game to me despite all the knocks and I am still a kid at heart when I put on my skates. I am enjoying my game more in England because there is not so much office politics and the fans really appreciate the imports.
Flano credits his wicked shot to hours and hours of practice.
My early inspiration was my father and my uncle Alf who played pro hockey.
Although my dad did not turn pro I looked up to him because he could always shoot the puck real hard and I have spent the whole of my life trying to shoot it as hard as he could.
I used to torture them all the time by shooting pucks on the basement wall.
Bang, bang, bang - I was chipping the brickwork away with hours of practice shots and driving them a little crazy.
I can hit the net with every shot from the red line. I've always been a natural on a pair of skates since I was three, but it has also taken years of practice to perfect that prefect shot.
Instead of bringing my books to school I'd bring my stick and puck.
OK, so if Flanagan is that great why wasn't he up there with Gretzky and Lemiuex?
He explained: I was not considered acceptable for junior hockey teams because I was so puny.
Instead I played for our High School team which was supposedly below junior teams - yet we often beat the junior teams.
I then jumped straight into collegiate hockey and played for a year during which various coaches from Chicago, Hartford, Boston and New York Rangers began knocking on my door.
The trouble was that I was 20 at the time, that's late for the first time B and C.
The scouts couldn't get over the fact that I had not been talent spotted earlier in my teens, but I explained that couldn't even make the junior teams on account of my height at the time.
Anyway they liked the way I played. I was agile like a small player, but I was big, fast and strong.
I impressed them and I was very excited about my career prospects and it seemed like I was on may way to achieving my ambition of becoming a big time pro.
The first pro team I played were Boston Bruins.
They asked me to do to an assessment camp with the rookies and I shaped up pretty well and from there I went into the NHL team.
Everything was too good to be true when suddenly I had a bad shoulder injury that knocked me off course and I was sent down for two months.
It was healed in two weeks but the club were worried at the time of letting me return so sadly I never got the contract I was looking for . That injury ruined it for me.
It was a bitter blow and I took it bad, but I didn't let it spoil my dreams because I love to play hockey at any level and I'm not too proud to come to England and pass on my love of the sport to the kids.
It was a year later before I proved that the injury was a thing of the past and I got signed by Detroit Redwings.
They gave me a second chance and I played with their affiliated team down in New York State, the Andirondaks. We had a good play-off that first year and I had an opportunity at last to show my stuff. I proved myself.
They still say that I have the hardest shot in the organisation. In my first year with Andriondaks we won the Calder cup which is like the Stanley Cup for that league.
That was the highlight of my North American career and something that doesn't happen very often. Since I turned pro I have been in three championship winning teams.
Flanagan isn't teetotal, but his idea of relaxing and having a good time is pumping iron till he drops and then knocking back pure orange juice.
He is a vigourous anti-smoking preacher: I am totally against smoking of any kind - its just something we are all better off without. I cannot believe it when I see young players, and, even the older ones who should know better, smoking.
Don't they realise its a bad example and another nail in your early coffin? I don't really drink that much alcohol during the hockey season.
Maybe I'll have a beer after a game but I don't indulge in it, I don't consider alcohol to be part of my hockey schedule at all.
Instead of drinking and smoking players should be toning up their bodies with good diets and workouts. They should look upon their bodies as an investment.
The rugged Rifleman, who still owes me a drink (pure orange juice) for making him famous on TV + on top of a Chieftain tank + in a wedding suit + at a model agency is now a big shot in the business world, check out his vital statistics at:
