In this food and travel video/vlog, I take you on a full Chinese street food tour of Guangzhou (keep this food in mind if you also visit Hong Kong)- we eat a lot of specialties on the street and in Chinese restaurants together. The addresses for these locations are listed below. Chinese/Asian food recipes are going to be included in my blog shortly.
1) Local street food Chang Fen (rice noodle roll) - These are found throughout the city and are famously eaten during breakfast time in Guangdong, or during yumcha dimsum. I went to a very cheap Chinese restaurant specializing in Changfen in Baiyun district:
Name: 潮汕辉记肠粉
Address: 广州市白云区岗贝路4号
2) The best and must try chashaobao AKA charsui bao AKA BBQ pork bun. These beauties are like upgraded baozi steam buns you find all over the streets of China. The pork juicy and covered in a sweet Barbeque sauce and the bun is so fluffy, you won't be able to get enough of them!
Name: 天天包点
Address: 广州市越秀区起义路72号
3) Famous Chinese street food Chashao BBQ pork and Shao'e roast goose. These are the best and two must try street foods in China, especially during lunch hour in Guangzhou or Hong Kong
Name: 九爷鸡
Address: 广州市越秀区文明路103号
4) Dim sum at the famous yumcha dim sum restaurant Dim Dou Dak. This is a chain restaurant that serves some of the best cantonese dim sum in the city. Be sure to order the shao mai dumplings, har gao dumplings, fengzhua chicken feet, and their specialty red rice roll. So good!
Name: 点都德
Address: 广州市越秀区越秀中路60号宝贝城4楼
5) The largest wholesale seafood market in Guangzhou. There is a huge selection of seafood here, you could spend a whole day here just watching and discovering all the different types of fresh seafood. It's not cheap unfortunately, it's quite expensive! Be ready to bargain a little bit.
Name: 盛港湾酒楼
Address: 广州市海珠区黄沙海产批发市场
If you have a whole day in Guangzhou or even Hong Kong (you can find exactly the same street foods) to travel and eat and try Chinese street food, then visit some of these amazing and best street food locations! Please leave me a comment down below if you did and let me know how the food was!

If you remember last year, we filmed a crazy Chinese seafood video worth $1500 and announced a giveaway to fly out 2 of our followers to China for a full street food tour of Guangzhou to try cantonese food like dim sum, noodles, and of course a very expensive seafood feast. Today's video is all about the street food and classic Cantonese food that we ate before the seafood meal.
In total, we spent around $100 on 27 different dishes and had some of the best street food around the world.
These are the amazing street foods that we had in Guangzhou, China:
1. The Best Dim Sum in the world - 13 different steamers of Chinese cuisine including the following: steamed chicken feet in a black bean sauce, siu mai pork dumplings, har gao shrimp dumplings, rice porridge, BBQ pork buns, red rice noodle rolls with shrimp, durian puffs, and egg custard buns!
Restaurant name: Dim Dou Dak (点都得)龙津中路587-589号
2. Amazing Chinese Rice Noodle Roll Changfen with Pork, Egg, and Shrimp, cooked right on the street! It was cheap too!
Street Stall Name: 新联肠粉店
Address: 88 Duobao Rd, Liwan Qu, Guangzhou, China
3. Delicious BBQ pork and roast goose, cantonese style. Cooked in a secret honey BBQ sauce! These BBQ pork and roast goose are not cheap if you order a whole bird, around 40$, but so worth it!
Street stall name: 永兴烧腊店 YongXing Shaola Dian
Street Stall address: 梯云东路21-4号
4. Pig foot noodles and pork intestine noodles, cooked cantonese style! Delicious egg noodles covered in a braised pork sauce are some of the best noodles to try in Guangzhou, and we found the best street stall to eat them at!
Cantonese noodle restaurant name: 坚记面店
Noodle address: 299 Changshou E Rd, Guangzhou, China
5. Chinese medicinal street tea, one of the most unique and strong street foods you can try in China. Served from a family shop, this tea is super bitter and you'll have to watch until this part of the video to see the most interesting part about it!
6. Chinese fried rice noodles on the street. Found in a local market in the back alleys of Guangzhou, in the same neighbourhood as the pig foot noodles above.
-----
Guangzhou is the land of cantonese food and is home to the world famous dim sum. Since my wife Ting is from Guangzhou, we often visit and eat incredible Cantonese cuisine with her family! It's always a lot of fun!

Welcome back to our mouthwatering and delicious Street Food series from Guangzhou, China. Join the Chopstick Travel team (Luke Martin) as we show you some of the best street food stalls and local restaurants in beautiful Canton China. Cantonese food is world-renown and Guangzhou is the epicentre of this cuisine. In this video (part 3) we show you where to eat. Here is the information to the restaurants:
Fried Wontons & Wonton Noodles
This legendary noodle shop tucked away in an alley serves up some mean wonton dishes. Watch the chefs prepare your dishes before your eyes in their open kitchen before you are served your food. We ordered their famous fried wontons, which are served golden crispy and piping hot with a sweet chili sauce as well as wonton noodle soup, which is served with a heap of fresh noodles. So delicious and a great breakfast!
Wu Caiji Noodle - 吴财记面家
No. 84 Datong Road and No. 20 Longli (east of Xicheng Duhui) - 大同路84号和隆里20号(西城都荟东侧)
Open Monday to Sunday: 7:00 - 00:30
Double Boiled Soup (Coconut Chicken)
Located on a busy road, this tiny hole-in-the-wall shop has very limited seating. They have tons of metal steam baskets stacked on top of each other and cooking to serve hundreds of customers. The soup is made directly inside the hollowed coconut with a light, clear coconut broth, chopped silken chicken and delicious goji berries. The flavour of the coconut flesh seeps into the broth to give it a beautiful, creamy flavour. A light but surprisingly filling meal! This is a Cantonese special and should not be missed when you’re in Guangzhou China!
Dayan Original Sauce - 达扬原味炖品
No. 160-1 Wenming Road - 文明路160-1号(近文德路)
Open Monday to Sunday: 12:00 - 24:00
Chopped Chicken & Chicken Porridge
Another alleyway hidden gem, this tiny shop serves up all-things chicken. Here you can get the local specialty which is white chicken, chopped into massive pieces, served with soy sauce and mustard sauce for dipping. We also ordered their famous chicken porridge which was rich, creamy and cheap - a local favourite. Order outside and bring your number to your table and you will be served your food fast! Come on an empty stomach because this will leave you super satisfied!
Tongji Chicken Porridge Noodle Shop - 同记鸡粥粉面店
No. 3 Fuguangli Changshou East Road - 长寿东路福广里3号
Open Monday to Sunday: 11:00 - 22:30

Guangzhou - CHINA'S BEST FOOD - Street Food in China
Guangzhou has a legitimate claim to China's best food city. It's the home to Cantonese food - probably the most popular type of Chinese food worldwide. I quickly found an incredible bowl of beef noodles in a tangy spicy broth. With tofu, seaweed knots, radish, and succulent chunks of beef - it's both filling and fulfilling. I'm being told that's a tacky line. Oh well.
This first day in Guangzhou really blew me away. It sounds silly, but the best thing I ate was a whole bunch of cong you bing, fried scallion pancakes. I've had this many times, but the place I went to in the video is by far the best. It was crispy on the outside and soft and flavorful on the inside.
I also had some dim sum, which was invented in Guangzhou. Instead of going for a early day dim sum meal, I grabbed a sample of dim sum treats from a late night stand.
There's a special soup in Guangzhou that's served in a coconut. It has a strange but tasty coconut water and chicken broth taste. The chicken that's in it is silk chicken. Its black skin is a bit strange, but the tenderness is amazing.
For breakfast, I found a place making chang fen, or steamed vermicelli rice rolls. They're a unique treat that will surprise you with their delicateness and deliciousness.

Shopping Street Beijing Road Pedestrian Street Guangzhou China
Beijing Lu Pedestrian Street, This is the main shopping thoroughfare, a pedestrian street where most stores are open from 9AM-10PM. It has absolutely everything; cheap clothes, good food and even a little history. There is a display of the original road from the song dynasty (960 – 1279 A.D).
In the center of the street you will see two underground archeological sites showing that this road has existed here for nearly a thousand years. Coke must have struck a good deal with Guangzhou’s municipal authorities because the pair of underground sites are sponsored by the American soda icon. Just in case you overlook that fact on the accompanying bronze plaque, then you can’t miss the Coca Cola logo that appears on almost every other glass panel which peers below into a pit with remnants of the Song and Ming dynasty roads on display. Permanently stationed between the two historical sites is the convenient Coca Cola Trolley, peddling the traditional glass bottles of what Chinese people not too long ago believed was a strange elixir that tasted like some awful western medicine.
The Xinhua bookstore is a good place to buy a tourist atlas of China. This is really the only shop around here that I would recommend. You won’t find any bargains if you’re looking for cheap clothing or those popular fake brand name designer goods.
There is a wide range of stores available, from a large modern-style department store to stores selling the latest fashions for young people, to the ultra-cheap shacks hawking t-shirts, jewelry and knick-knacks…
When you walk down beijing lu you will see little alleys on the left and right. In there are many little shops where you can bargain. Designer clothes, bags, all the girls stuff and a bit of guy’s clothes. There is tons of guys selling fake watches there as well and they will follow you down the road for a bit trying to get you to look at their stuff.
You will get exhausted when you see all the things are real cheap, but 1 thing, you get what you paid for. The things are not so good quality if it is real cheap. But as for a lady we will still buy if when we see things are cheap , it doesn’t matter at least we will use it for a few times it you dont like it anymore you can give it to someone else , after all the things that you bought are cheap .
If you are staying in GuangZHou hotel or Landmark Hotel, it is a walking distance, just about 10 minutes walking from the hotel to the beijing lu Pedestrian Street.

Guangzhou Beijing Road Info:
Located in the centre of Guangzhou, Beijing Lu Street is a cultural, entertainment and commercial street. It is considered the most prosperous area in the history of Guangzhou. The average daily visitor number here is a staggering 400,000 people on a normal day. During public holidays that number could be 600,000 and beyond.
The full length of Beijing Road runs from Guangwei Road in the north, to Yanjiang Middle Road in the south and the Beijing Road Commercial Pedestrian Street section runs from Zhongshan Road to Wenming Middle Road. There are also shops to the east and west of the main pedestrian section.
The street is famous in Guangzhou, having a long history dating back to the Qing Dynasty. In the 1920’s it was named Wing Hon Road, later to be renamed Han Road after a famous national leader, only to be renamed again in 1949 with the rise of the Chinese Communist Party, and the name remains today. You can actually see that historic beginning, which still lies underneath the road that’s walked on today. In the pedestrian section, there are large glass panels and you can look down into and excavation which reveals the historic road from the times past.

CHINESE STREET FOOD - Qingping Market Street Food Tour in Guangzhou China | BEST Dim Sum in China
CANTONESE STREET FOOD in Guangzhou, China - EPISODE 1
What's up everyone! Luke Martin here from Chopstick Travel. Today we take you on a STREET FOOD tour through Guangzhou China (aka Canton), for some amazing Cantonese/Chinese local cuisine and street food. Similar to Hong Kong, Guangzhou, China is home to unique and delicious street food and we want to introduce these foods to you so that you can enjoy Guangzhou China as much as we did! In this street food guide, we eat:
1. Dim Sum (Yam cha)
Dim sum is an essential part of Cantonese cuisine throughout China. It consists of various small dishes that have been steamed in steam baskets, and served with tea. You can have it in fancy brunch restaurants as well as street food style! We get to sample: cheong fun, siu mai, char siu bao, chicken feet and more! Here is the restaurant information:
Dian Dou De (Huancheng) - 点都德(花城店)
16 Huacheng Ave (2nd floor) - 花城大道16号(凯蓝大厦2楼)
Hours: Mon - Sun 9:00 to 22:00
2. Roast Meat
Roast meat is another typical yet vital dish in Cantonese cuisine and found throughout China. You will usually see the golden crispy meat hanging from windows outside street food stalls, selling out quick! We chose to try the BBQ Pork meat right outside the incredible Qingping Market (one of the most popular medicinal markets in Guangzhou, and in all of China!). So delicious and sweet! Here is the street food stall information:
Yongxing Roast Meat Shop - 永兴烧腊店
21-4 Tiyun East Rd. - 梯云东路21-4号
Hours: Mon - Sun 10:30 to 14:30 and 16:00 to 18:00
3. Double Skin Milk (燉雙皮奶)
An all-time favourite and traditional dessert in Guangzhou China you don't want to miss! Street food vendors will first boil buffalo milk (for extra richness) and allow it to cool, forming a layer of skin. Peeling the skin away (and saving for later of course) they add sugar and egg to the milk to create a creamy custard. They boil the custard and pour it onto the first skin and allow it to cool to create delicious custard between two skins. Want to give it a try? Check this place out:
Baihua Tianpin - 百花甜品店
210 Wenming Rd. (near Zhongshan Library) - 文明路210号(近中山图书馆)
Hours: Mon - Sun 9:30 to midnight
4. Claypot Rice
A dish found throughout southern China, and is extremely famous in Guangzhou, is the claypot rice. Although restaurants will have different ingredients, one thing remains the same, crispy burnt rice! We get to try an amazing beef and egg claypot rice at a local and cheap street food stall in the centre of downtown Guangzhou. You can visit this spot too:
Wanxing Claypot Rice - 万兴煲仔饭图片
289 Wanfu Rd. - 万福路289号
We hope you enjoyed our first video from our China Street Food series in Guangzhou China. We absolutely LOVED Cantonese style food and wanted to make sure you got to enjoy it as much as we did during your visit to China! Make sure to let us know what your favourite Cantonese (or Chinese) dish is in the comments and where you tried it! Thanks for watching!
