BROOME Australia, Travel Guide - What To Do: IN ONE DAY (Tour - Self Guided Highlights)
An easy self-guided tour of Broome, Australia. Showing you the best highlights and how to navigate them. Check the links below for further information on how to better plan your journey.
Broome is a beach resort town in western Australia’s Kimberley region. Along its Indian Ocean coastline, the white sands of 22km-long Cable Beach offer a dramatic backdrop for sunset camel rides. At Gantheaume Point nearby, dinosaur tracks are revealed in the beach’s red rocks during low tide. Broome’s historic Chinatown overlooks Roebuck Bay, a jumping off point for cruises to local pearl farms.
Attractions in town include Chinatown’s Sun Pictures, the world’s oldest operating outdoor cinema. Pearl Luggers and the Broome Museum, both by Roebuck Bay, celebrate the town’s long involvement with the pearling industry. Thousands of shorebirds, some flying from as far away as Siberia, can be spotted at the Broome Bird Observatory just outside town. Malcolm Douglas Crocodile Park shelters an array of Australia's wildlife on its 30 hectares, including many crocodiles. To the north, the Dampier Peninsula is home to several Aboriginal communities and sheltered beaches.

Broome is hot year-round with a humid, wet season Dec–Mar. Dry season (Apr–Nov) is when most visitors and locals flock to 22km-long Cable Beach. In a natural phenomenon nicknamed the Staircase to the Moon, an optical illusion is created at the coincidence of low tide and a full moon, usually on 3 consecutive evenings per month Mar–Nov. The annual Festival of the Pearl (Aug–Sep), also called Shinju Matsuri, celebrates Broome's Japanese pearl-diving heritage.

Just like the Brochures, Broome. Ep.59
After Cape Leveque, we returned to Broome for 2 more nights to see a few more spots before heading south. We chose to splurge out and stay at the Discovery Parks in Broome and with the peak season pretty much over we had a ocean view site.????
We checked out Gantheaume Point, Streeters Jetty and took a look at the old pearling Japanese cemetery????????. On our previous pit stop in Broome, before heading up to Cape Leveque, we visited the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM). The guys give a free tour of the place and explain how they get weather data???? etc. It was very interesting, thanks to our mates Roving Russo's for the tip!
We watched the sunset 3 times on Cable beach????. Once from the sunset bar, while having some sundowners with Kurts parents and twice from the beach. It’s easy to see why so many people love Broome! We also stuffed our faces, by visiting a variety of pubs & clubs, including Matso’s Brewery & The ‘Roey’.

50,000 Wild Mega Bats take off like Batman is in Broome Town, Western Australia! Check it out!
Watch how these bats just pick up out of the Broome Roebuck Bay mangroves and start to gather every last bat in a massive take off over one of the largest Bays in the Kimberley, Austrlaia. A facinating entertaining watch right in the Broome Town.
The mixed black flying fox and little red flying fox colony of around 50,000 megabats lives all year in mangroves next to Broome township's small Streeter's Jetty. They chatter and socialise loudly before flying out at dusk each evening. The bats are key pollinators and seed dispersers for native trees and plants.
Roebuck Bay and further south at Eighty Mile Beach are two of the best places in Australia to view migratory birds. From September to April the vast, nutrient-rich tidal mudflats are visited by half a million wader birds arriving from their breeding grounds in Siberia, North Asia and the Arctic. These tiny birds fly the 11,000 kilometre journey non-stop – taking over four days and losing a third of their body weight in the process.

Yes, I know there was some crumbs at the corner of my mouth at the start of the video.
Yes, I know its stromatolites and not stalactamites (or whatever I was trying to say).
