Stroud Brewery | Abel & Cole's featured brewery
Stroud Brewery is the brainchild of Stroud native marine biologist-trained Greg, who 11 years ago was weeding a carrot field with a fellow beer enthusiast when the realisation dawned upon him that within a 15 mile radius of where he was standing, is some of the best barley you can find (and with the best barley you can make some of the best brew). What started as a little operation selling mostly casks to pubs has turned into a full brewery, with a seven-strong team, that is fully commited to organic.
During the week it's all work for the Strouders, and on the weekend it's a little less work and a little more play, with the brewery now boasting a little bar, with music every Saturday. Oh, and they have a pizza oven too (their sourdough pizzas are something to behold). Winning awards is becoming somewhat of a habit for Stroud Brewery (their representative was recently rather embarrassed having had to get up so often at the Cotswold Artisan Drinks Awards), and no one deserves it more.

Stroud Brewery | Powered by Ecotricity ????
Could Stroud Brewery be the greenest brewery around? They do so much to minimise their carbon footprint – not only are they #PoweredByEcotricity and committed to supporting green energy, they're also B-corp certified, meaning they use their business as a force for good.
Some of their initiatives include rainwater flushed toilets, using recycled energy from their chiller to power underfloor heating, LED lighting as well as making their beer with locally sourced barley. Cheers to that! ????
About Us
Green electricity didn't exist in the world back in 1996. When we offered it for the first time, we became not just Britain’s but the world’s first green electricity company – and we kick-started the now global green electricity movement. Our mission was and remains to change the way electricity is made and used in Britain.
We chose this focus because conventional electricity is responsible for 30% of Britain’s carbon emissions – it’s our biggest single source as a nation, and therefore the biggest single thing we can change.

Stroud - the best Farmer's Market in England !
The bustling Cotswold town of Stroud is home to a Farmer's Market reputed to be the best in the Country with artisan bread, country cheeses, vegetables and greens like you haven't seen since you were a kid all held in a traditional marketplace and spilling over into the surrounding streets, every Saturday morning.
Stroud itself may be described as a bohemian town populated by interesting people. It is rather like Totnes in Devon and has attracted its fair share of old hippies (hope this is not going to offend anyone?).
The valleys surrounding Stroud can be staggeringly beautiful on a sunny spring day and morbidly miserable in the rain and wind! Interesting street names like Old Neighbourhood, Little Switzerland and Minchinhampton !

Stroud road hazards
Cycling through Stroud you meet many hazards. Lost blue car does a 360 on a one way street. Black car does shortcut across pedestrian area. 4x4 goes wrong way up Gloucester Street. David crosses road without looking. These four incidents were separate days edited together. Perhaps Stan could have a think how these could be made safer?
