Stop at the many secluded beaches and see the islands of the Furneaux Group like mountains in the sea as they rise from the pristine waters of Franklin Sound. With breathtaking views of the Strzelecki Peaks including Mount Razorback and Mount Belstead surrounding you as you ride. Your knowledgeable local guide will provide information on outlying islands and points of interest along the way including information about the wild pig population and their introduction into Flinders Island. Learn about the history of the many mutton-bird rookeries on the outer Islands and flight of the Short-Tailed Shearwaters. Wind through gigantic eucalyptus gums and lush ferns of the National Park before heading back to the coast. Our half day tours offer plenty of riding and time to absorb the natural surroundings at our secluded stops including morning or afternoon tea break.

After mapping the Flinders Ranges and surrounding 4WD regions for over a month in a Toyota LandCruiser 79 Dual Cab, this video series documents the final week of the Hema Map Patrol’s 2017 Flinders Ranges and Outback South Australia overland expedition.

The adventure begins in Arkaroola Village on the edge of Vulkathunha-Gammon Ranges National Park, and ends in the desert oasis of Malkumba-Coongie Lakes National Park. Part one includes the trip from Arkaroola to Lake Frome, Chambers Gorge, Parachilna, Copley and the beginning of the Strzelecki Track at Lyndhurst.
The Hema Map Patrol is a field team that is responsible for driving Australia’s off-road 4WD tracks and remote roads to update Hema’s paper mapping products and digital navigation mapping database. While travelling off-road, the Map Patrol are gathering accurate track and point of interest (such as campsites, caravan parks, rest areas, historical points, lookouts and much more) data, capturing media like photos and video, making trip and track notes for other travellers and more. This information is used to help make every Hema map as useful and up-to-date as possible for travellers who want to discover Australia off-road with confidence.

The Grand Strzelecki Track is a new walking track covering over 100 kilometres through two National Parks (Tarra Bulga & Morwell) in Gippsland, Australia.
The route takes you through stunning diverse scenery with unique wildlife including The Freshwater Cray and The South Gippsland Spiny Cray.

Kapladığı alan ile Avrupa'nın en büyük ikinci milli parkı.Milli Park'ta en çok ziyaret edilen yerlerinden biri, Breidamerkurjökull'un dibinde bulunan Jökulsarlon buzul gölü. Göl, Vatna buzullarının hızla erimesiyle 80 yıl önce oluşmuş. Maalesef bugün buzul günden güne eriyerek küçülürken, sonucunda göl daha da büyüyor.Göl, 190 metreye varan derinlikte erimiş su ile dolu. Büyük buzdağları parçalanıp daha küçülerek Atlantik okyanusuna açılmadan önce gölde yüzüyor; daha sonra ise okyanusa açılan küçük bir nehirle Atlantik’e varıyor.Okyanusa varan bu buzul parçalarını ise dalgalar sahile geri yolluyor. Böylece simsiyah kumların üzerinde elmas parçaları gibi parlayan buzul parçacıkları plaja adını veriyor ve burası Diamond Beach yani Elmas Plajı olarak adlandırılıyor.
Buzullar İzlanda’nın yaklaşık %10’nu kaplıyor. Vatnajökull ise İzlanda’nın en büyük buzulu. Aynı zamanda Avrupa’nın da en büyük buzulu olan Vatnajökull’un derinliği 800 metre, büyüklüğü ise 8000 kilometrekare.Vatnajökull'un hacmi 1930'larda zirveye ulaşmış ancak o zamandan beri sürekli bir düşüş süreci yaşanıyor. Küresel ısınmanın etkisiyle yükselen sıcaklık seviyesinden dolayı, Vatnajökull ortalama olarak geçtiğimiz 15 yıl boyunca yılda ortalama üç metre kalınlığında yükseklik kaybetmiş. Düşünürseniz bu korkunç bir rakam!
