West Nipissing - Quelle surprise!
The West Nipissing Chamber of Commerce is pleased to present this commercial, highlighting West Nipissing's small to medium sized enterprises. The SME commercial utilizes the quelle surprise brand, promoting the variety of products and services in West Nipissing as being an unexpected surprise. The new brand reflects the diversity of the region and the language of the people that live here. It will be used to showcase local shops as a consumer destination, it will assist in generating sustainable traffic, and will instil local pride.
This SME commercial has been developed as part of the West Nipissing Business Growth Initiative and would not have been possible without the generous contributions from project partners including FedNor, RDÉE Ontario, Ontario Trillium Foundation, Caisse Populaires de Nipissing Ouest and the Municipality of West Nipissing.

Roadside BBQ and Caviar in New Brunswick
In this episode of Keep it Canada, Matty heads to New Brunswick to hang out with his close friend and spirit animal: Chef Jesse Vergen.
Jesse takes Matty to visit his family's driving range, where he's built an incredible roadside BBQ restaurant. We also meet with Cornel Ceapa, a man who has devoted his life to sturgeon and the decadent caviar they produce.
Matty then takes his mother and aunt—who grew up in New Brunswick—for a giant pile of fried seafood. At the end of it all, Jesse and Matty respectfully slaughter a lamb on Jesse's farm to serve to Matty and Jesse's families, along with Cornel and his wife.

Frank Casey the Painter.wmv
Frank Casey was born in Mitchell, Ontario in 1907. After becoming a teacher he attended the Ontario College of Art and was trained by J.E.H. MacDonald and J.W. Beatty. His work reflects the same energy and boldness as the Group of Seven. Since teaching was his profession he worked in several communities in Northern Ontario, but spent most of his life as the principal of the Public School in Sturgeon Falls. Frank died in 1968 in the first year of his retirement and during his short life produced 100's of paintings for family and friends to enjoy. Now 42 years later many of his paintings that have remained in storage are being brought out for the public to enjoy and also have a chance to own. So come and join us at the Sturgeon River House Museum Oct. 12 to 17, 2010 for the Exhibit and Auction. For more info call 705-753-4716 or go to

*Note: After some extra digging, it turns out 'On the Road' was actually a local program out of Thunder Bay, and not the 'On the Road Again with Wayne Rostad' television series which began airing in 1987. The 'On the Road' show was a short lived program in 1984.
