Mandalay Hill - Sutaungpyai Paya Sunset Panorama - Burma 2010 [HD]
Sutaungpyai (Su Taung Pyi) Pagoda, the (literally) 'wish fulfilling' pagoda at the top of Mandalay Hill with its glittering green and gold glass mosaic columns and tile floors is crowded with tourists and devotees who witness spectacular sunset panoramic views of Mandalay and its environs.[also see Picasa album: ]
Shwe Kyeemyin Pagoda, Mandalay
Legend has it that a crow indicated the site for this 12th C pagoda, commonly known as Shwe Kyeemyint Paya, to a prince of Bagan, Min Shinsaw. The eldest son of Alaungsithu, he was banished north to an area which nearly 700 years later became Mandalay. He also built reservoirs and irrigation canals there to promote rice cultivation.
Besides the ancient Buddha images in the eastern inner sanctum open to the public only during the holy month of Tabaung (March), two original palanquins used by queens and princesses of Konbaung Dynasty, the last royal house of Burma, are on permanent display in the western shrine hall.

Mandalay Myanmar: Film diary #15
personally I prefer Bagan more than Mandalay. Mandalay is neither exotic in a sense, nor touristy like Bangkok, so it's caught in a limbo. Personally I'd like to know more about the history of the past kingdoms, but there isn't much information inside the palaces, which is a disappointment for me.
U Bein Bridge is a MUST, you will need to hire a boat to see the stunning sunset. It's unfortunate they have blocked the view from the shore in order to force you to rent their boats.
It was difficult to shoot film, digital and video all at the same time. I really need to streamline the process.
Equipments used: Xpan II, Leica SL, Panasonic GH4. Kodak Portra400 and Cinestill Daylight 50s
btw, we do camera straps :)

2 Minute Daily Travel Vlog || Myanmar - Mandalay Hill Pt. 1
A landmark of Mandalay, Mandalay Hill stands at about 240 m high which overlooks the city. Mandalay Hill is known for its panoramic views and a place for several pagodas. I decided to check out the pagoda at the very top of the hill called Su Taung Pyi Pagoda built by King Anawratha in the 414 Myanmar Era. A very fancy and shiny pagoda that is worth visiting especially during sunrise or sunset.

Naypyidaw | Exploring Myanmar's bizarre empty capital by drone | Coconuts TV
EXCLUSIVE FOOTAGE: Just a few years ago it was illegal to film government ministries in Myanmar’s bizarre secretive capital, Naypyidaw. Recently, those rules were loosened but aerial photography falls into a grey area. Before things change we took to the skies over Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (The Assembly of the Union) to see what the vast capital complex looks like from a bird’s eye view in this exclusive footage.

Traditional Myanmar Music
The music of Burma (or Myanmar) has similarities with and is related to many other musical traditions in the region. Burmese music includes a variety of folk traditions. A distinct form called the byaw is often played at religious festivals and is sung to the beat of a long and thin drum, with occasional interruptions by the beating of a larger drum. The Burmese monarchy as well as the infusion of different regional music styles, have created several classical traditions of Burmese music. The oldest influences may perhaps come from China, which shares a similar pentatonic musical scale as classical Burmese music.
