Akihabara Survival Guide (Points Of Interest In Description)
This is basically a complete video tour all recorded in one take of pretty much all of the main points of interest in all of Akihabara, Tokyo. This is based on tons of research that I have done about it plus my own personal months of exploration within it. Of course I don't cover every square inch of Akihabara and I know I forgot some cool shops like Mandarake. I've actually recorded that one in a previous video though. My intention was to give a basic layout of the geography and big highlights of Akihabara so that you could find them with ease.
Points of Interest:
3:27 - AKB 48 Cafe and Gundam Cafe
5:10 - Taxi Service
7:00 - UDX Building (Tourist Info, Tokyo Anime Center, Free 2-Week Wi-Fi)
8:35 - Post Office (International Debit Card ATM)
8:54 - Koban (Police Box)
11:05 - McDonald's
13:15 - Western Union and Money Exchange
14:46 - Gera Gera Manga and Internet Cafe (24H)
16:27 - Monkey Net Manga and Internet Cafe (24H) Mandarake is basically behind it by the way.
16:46 - Family Mart (Convenience store with Free Wi-Fi)
18:17 - Akiba Mario Kart Service
18:33 - Cosplay Studio CROWN (Rachel and Jun went here)
20:02 - Lawson (Convenience store with Free Wi-Fi)
22:24 - Kanda Shrine
30:06 - Akiba Zone (Animate)
33:02 - Kotobukiya (Star Wars shop is in this building)
33:50 - Melon Books (Mostly hentai)
34:06 - Maidreamin (Maid Cafe)
34:16 - HEY Arcade (Alley Entrance)

50:22 - Taito Arcade Center
50:28 - 7 Bank ATM (International Cards)
51:20 - Money Exchange
51:31 - Don Quijote (Everything from food to clothes here plus two floors of arcades and the AKB 48 live stage plus Free Wi-Fi)
54:54 - Tsukumo (Electronics)
55:15 - Street food like Takoyaki
56:06 - Comictoranoana
1:00:28 - 7/11 (Free Wi-Fi plus 7 Bank ATM)
1:00:33 - Yodobashi Camera
1:01:18 - Taxi and Bus Service
1:01:21 - Best McDonalds (Basically 24H with Free Wi-Fi)
Use tips responsibly. Single females probably shouldn't stay at manga and internet cafes at night due to the possibility of perverts looking at them. I have heard rare stories. Be a good role model for foreigners. It's already hard enough sometimes to get through the negative stereotypes of the asshole gaijin that come here. If you're coming here to be a loud mouth and to fuck shit up, don't bother even coming here. Happy travels. ;p

toddatron vlog 6/13/2009
Just a vlog well this one got a little fancy but a trip to Lake Town in Koshigaya and I finally found a pro bike shop close to my apt. Its the Lake Town stop on the Musashino line. Parts and tools were a little pricey as always in Japan but the mountain bikes were quite reasonable. They do not sell mamcharis here! I went to buy a tire but got other stuff. As I said they do not carry much for replacement parts for the bikes they sell just mods and upgrades and a lot of tires I wanted were on the new bikes but only special order. They also do tuning there. I need an all terrain tire for road dirt and gravel. My Bontrager Jones wear out fast on the road although they handle well. Three months of hard road riding and the rear is getting bald.
Y's Road Bike shop in akasaka. This location is far better than the one in the video and I found everything I needed after shooting at the mall:
A good site for bike rentals and shops in Japan:
Nalsima Frend (sic) is a popular racing bike shop very near Shinjuku. They have a good range of top end frames and accessories, prices are good for Japan (although given current exchange rates it's cheaper to buy things in the US or Europe) and service is excellent. It can get crowded on weekends though.
The shop is a 3 minute walk from Kita-Sando Station on the Tokyo Metro Fukutoshin Line, or a 9 minute walk from either Sendagaya Station (JR Sobu Line), Harajuku Station (JR Yamanote Line) or Kokuritsu-kyougijyo Station (Oedo Subway Line). All these lines run from Shinjuku.
Address: 2-2-4 Sendagaya, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo 151-0051
Tel: 03-3405-9614
Hours: 1200 - 1930 (closed Wed. and Thu.)
(Japanese only)
UPDATE!!!
Y's road in akaska has the extreme mountain bike selection and lots of tires and parts on the shelf! In contrast to Lake town the staff is much more knowledgeable and helpful to foreigners. They have some of the most extreme frames and tires I have seen . I picked up a set of Maxxis Hookworm tires. I will be pounding the pavement this week and hope to mention them in the next vlog.

Akihabara
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Akihabara (Japanese: 秋葉原), also known as Akihabara Electric Town (Japanese: 秋葉原電気街 Hepburn: Akihabara Denki Gai), is a district of Tokyo, Japan. It is located less than five minutes by rail from Tokyo Station. Its name is frequently shortened to Akiba (アキバ) in Japan. While there is an official locality named Akibahara, which is also 秋葉原 in kanji, nearby (as part of Taitō-ku), the area known to most people as Akihabara (including the railway station of the same name) also include Soto-Kanda, a part of Chiyoda-ku.
Akihabara is a major shopping area for electronic, computer, anime, games and otaku goods, including new and used items. New items are mostly to be found on the main street, Chūōdōri, with many kinds of used items found in the back streets of Soto Kanda 3-chōme. New parts for PC-building are readily available from a variety of stores. Tools, electrical parts, wires, microsized cameras and similar items are found in the cramped passageways of Soto Kanda 1-chōme (near the station). Foreign tourists tend to visit the big name shops like Laox or other speciality shops near the station, though there is more variety and lower prices at locales a little further away. Akihabara gained some fame through being home to one of the first stores devoted to personal robots and robotics.
The area was just out of Sujikai-gomon city gate (present Mansei bridge) which was one of the city gates (Mitsuke) of old Edo (Tokyo). It was the gateway from inner Edo to northern and northwestern Japan and Kan'ei-ji temple in Ueno. Many dealers, craftsmen and relatively lower class samurai lived there.

VLOG SEVEN Day 11
After I got sick on Day 10 of stay in Japan, I went straight to Osaka to see the Osaka Castle in the flesh though, it doesn’t have one. Lol. I saw a park also where there are number of Sakura.
After that I went straight to Dotonbori to see Glico. I didn’t video any of the food there because I forgot my phone was already in low battery. It died on me.

This Episode Features
Matcha Ramen
Mensho San Fransisco - Shinjuku
7th Floor of Mylord Department Store (just off Shinjuku west station exit)
Tomato Ramen
Taiyo No Tomatome - Shinjuku
Note: Taito no tomatomen is actually a chain restaurant, so you can find them in most area’s in Tokyo
Lemon Ramen
Torisoba Kotobuki - Ikebukuro
Note: The Ramen has lots of Lemons – but its actually chicken broth based, I have to say this is one of my favourite it has a burst of flavour, the lemons are great way to wake you up after a long tiring day.
Cheese ramen - Tsukumo Ramen
Ebisu
Note: If you love cheese, this place really hits home hard with the gouda cheese, fantastic with the tonkotsu (pork broth combination) – honestly not as thick and creamy as I thought it would be
Finally
Blue Ramen - Kipposhi
Shibuya
Note: you may think its food colouring but everything here is made naturally, most likely using algae – The blue ramen is a chicken based ramen, but the broth is clear and the umami flavour is through the roof, it’s a must try if you are around shibuya
