Back Roads of Hayward California
heading back towards Dublin from Hayward on the back roads. Hayward ( /ˈheɪwərd/; formerly, Haywards, Haywards Station, and Haywood) is a city located in the East Bay in Alameda County, California. With a population of 144,186, Hayward is the sixth largest city in the San Francisco Bay Area and the third largest in Alameda County. Hayward was ranked as the 37th most populous municipality in California. It is included in the San Francisco-Oakland-Fremont Metropolitan Statistical Area by the US Census. It is located primarily between Castro Valley and Union City, and lies at the eastern terminus of the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge. The city was devastated early in its history by the namesake 1868 Hayward earthquake. From the early 20th century until the beginning of the 1980s, Hayward's economy was dominated by its food canning industry. Hayward has four parks administered by the East Bay Regional Park District: the Don Castro Regional Recreation Area, Dry Creek Pioneer Regional Park, the Hayward Regional Shoreline, and Garin Regional Park. The Eden Landing Ecological Reserve is located at the Hayward shoreline, and includes 600 acres of salt ponds set to be converted to tidal wetlands. Hayward is also home to the oldest Japanese garden in California designed along traditional lines. The 3.5 acre Japanese Gardens was dedicated in 1980. The garden is administered by the Hayward Area Recreation and Park District (HARD), which operates a number of parks and facilities, primarily in Hayward, including the Skywest and Mission Hills Golf Courses, Kennedy Park, the Sulphur Creek Nature Center, the Hayward Shoreline Interpretive Center, and the Hayward Plunge swim center, at the entrance to the Green Belt Trails and Memorial Park. HARD is the largest recreation district in California. In addition to the two public golf courses, TPC Stonebrae, a private golf club, operates in Hayward.

Hayward Shoreline Interpretive Center, located next to the Hayward Regional Shoreline, California, May, 2014. I just got a 720P camera and wanted to test it out.
The highway next to the Interpretive Center is Highway 92, which eventually leads to the San Mateo Bridge that spans the San Francisco Bay.

Friends of Crab Cove - Kids Activity
FRIENDS OF CRAB COVE is a collaborative organization consisting of persons representing neighborhoods, businesses, and schools adjacent to the main entrance to Crab Cove Regional Park, as well as those adjacent to Washington Park and all of Alameda’s shoreline; and, all persons who enjoy the use of Crab Cove, Washington Park and Alameda’s shoreline. Members are working to ensure that the Federal Building complex on McKay Avenue is acquired for expansion to existing recreation space and educational and historical activities. Existing Measures WW and D set requirements that the land be acquired and zoned as open space and FRIENDS OF CRAB COVE propose that the land be used to expand and enhance Crab Cove’s open space and educational and historical activities. Members are opposed to the Federal Government’s current proposal to turn the existing Federal Building complex into a homeless facility/drop in sleeping center.
Crab Cove Visitor Center and adjacent Robert W. Crown Memorial State Beach, part of the longest beach on San Francisco Bay. Some 1.5 million people use the park annually, mostly to picnic or stroll along the beach or, in the warmer months, play in the gentle surf. But with all the nature happening here, park naturalists present nearly 450 programs a year about the Bay environment for students and families, including birding walks, aquarium feedings, and low-tide excursions onto the mudflat. In 2015, more than 7,200 students from 269 classrooms participated in field trips.
