The main hall of the shrine is designated as a national treasure and the copper axe and sword of the shrine are designated as important cultural properties of the Fukuoka prefecture.
Sumiyoshi Jinja, Fukuoka - 住吉神社 - Japan As It Truly Is
Sumiyoshi Jinja is a small oasis in the urban insanity of everyday life. Here's one of Fukuoka's better shrines, with lots to soak in.
At Sumiyoshi Jinja you can find numerous torii gates, koi fish, and tranquility in the middle of the city. Sumiyoshi was one of the major shrines in the area historically, when the region was known as Chikuzen. In fact it was an ichinomiya, or top ranked Shinto shrine.
Historically, it was used as a place to pray for safe marine journeys, among other things. The area near the shrine used to be a cape that extended into the Naka River, making its location appropriate. Over the centuries however, due to land reclamation, this is not the case now.
Entrance is free and the shrine is open 24/7.

福岡市 住吉神社 Sumiyoshi Jinja (shrine) in Hakata, Fukuoka City
Fukuoka was part of Chikuzen Province. This was the top shrine of Chikuzen no Kuni. For more accurate and thorough information, check Wikipedia or other sources, I am just doing this for people who want to see this significant shrine but cannot.

As i was walking through shopping streets in Fukuoka, I ended up in Canal City Hakata mall where random J pop boysbands were peforming, then I went to Sumiyoshi shrine, Fukuoka castle ruins where you can get a great view of the city and finished my days by a walk (and a cake obviously) in Ohori park.

Rakusuien Garden, Fukuoka - 楽水園●福岡市 - Japan As It Truly Is
Rakusuien (楽水園) in Fukuoka is a beautiful garden and tea house that belonged to a wealthy merchant family, and built in 1906.
After the war, Rakusuien was used as an inn, but in 1995 Fukuoka City rebuilt the whole place and made it open to the public.
It is only 5 minutes on foot from Hakata Station, and for only 100 yen provides a nice little escape from the busy urban life.
Rakusuien (or Rakusui-en) is on the north side of Sumiyoshi Shrine; open 9AM-5PM, closed Tuesdays.

I took short a 5 days winter vacation trip to Hakata, Fukuoka.
It was rather quiet during the New Year season in Japan since many people spend time with their families during this period.
It was my first time experiencing a Japanese New Year.
I tried osechi for the first time, hatsumode (first shrine visit of the year) and ate lots of mochi.
It was lovely.

【福岡グルメ旅】一時帰国中に日本人女子がしたいこと #2
私は香港在住の日本人。実はこのたび健康診断を受けに香港から一番アクセスのよい日本の玄関口である福岡は博多へ滞在することになりました。
地元の人間ではないのですが、これまでも一時帰国や体のメンテナンスの際には何度も足を運んできました。またこの街には私の大親友も住んでおり、彼女に会いにいくのも訪問する大きな理由だったりします。
さて、福岡なかんずく博多は、訪日客にとりましてはとっても快適な滞在先だったりします。
なんといっても一番の魅力は、空港から市街地へのアクセスがよく、大きなキャリーケースを持って入国してもストレスが少ないことです。
また、日本を代表する美味しい食材やお料理がたくさんあることも、福岡を旅先に選ぶ大きな魅力となっています。
今回から数回に分けて、久々に日本に帰国し舞い上がっている日本人女子が、一時帰国中にどんなことをして楽しんだか、半分日本人半分外国人のような視点でお届けしたいと思います。

海外生活をしていて、恋しくなるもの。それは日本の〇〇。
たとえば、日本の中華（チャーラーとかラギョビーとか）、日本のイタリアン、日本のフレンチ、みたいな。
特に日本のフレンチ、これはワールドクラス。
日本のフレンチは、見た目もうつくしく、味もパーフェクト。
なにより、サーブしてくれるスタッフの物腰、これが海外に誇るサービスだったりするわけです。
そんなわけでお友達と連れ立って足を運んだのが、「俺のフレンチ 博多店」。
私は東京にいるときはよく利用していたのですが、博多のお店は行きつけだった東京の某店舗よりも敷地面積が広く、開放感があります。
オススメはCコース。約3000円強のお値段で最高のお料理を堪能できます。
特筆すべきは、プラス500円でオマール海老のお料理にランクをあげることができること。また、面白いパフォーマンスなのが、セットでついてくるシャンパンなりワインが、グラス並々に注がれること。
こういうお客さんの心をひくサービスが、長く消費者から愛される秘訣なんだろうなと感じて帰ってきました。
素敵な空間でアルコールの助けもあってか、お友達と最高の同窓会を開くことができました。
日本に旅行中は軽装なことが多いので、カジュアルに利用できるのもいい点。
訪日客の皆さんにぜひオススメしたいお店だなと思ったので動画のなかでご紹介させていただきました。

日本に帰国してやりたかったことの一つに、紅葉をみることがありました。四季を愛でる心は、日本の誇るべきDNAのような気がします。
残念ながら温暖化の影響で、ちょーっと赤味が足りなかったですが、
美しい日本庭園楽水園で自然に触れてリフレッシュできました。
楽水園は、博多駅から徒歩約10分の距離。
旅行中は体力も使うので、この手ごろな距離感はとてもありがたいなと感じました。
滝があったり、鯉が泳いでいたり、都会の中に生き続ける日本の伝統をお楽しみください。

博多商人が元々建設した別荘跡地に福岡市管理のもと建築された楽水園の茶室は、正真正銘本物の茶室。
ありがたかったのは、私には茶道の経験がないのですが、こういう私でも気楽にお茶を楽しむことができたという点。
ぜひオススメします。
