[Edit 2018-12-02 - New Upload here: Better quality when dropping to 30fps from 60fps - BUT the compromise is that sometimes the footage is jittery during fast motion]
So this Sunday I got dragged into a trek in the south of the island by my cuzzies... I had a concert the night before and had an urgent delivery for Monday and on top of that I had to prepare for my Mom's bday on Monday as well... AND I didn't have my car...
But I nonetheless agreed to go, and I'm so glad I did, I mean, those views are splendid... It was very very hot though and I got home with a very bad headache that lasted till yesterday (Monday) - and I had to complete that delivery with the headache - fortunately that went quite well...
The Trek, organised by TRAM, was marked as level 1 - but as per my experience, this was no level 1 at all... It was LOOOONG very long... but what made it tiring was the scorching sun... Now I had a hat that I absolutely need so I don't end up looking like a grilled barbecue, but the thing builds up so much heat over your head and that is very uncomfortable...
I used to do Treks a long while back, but then I was hurt in my foot and couldn't do it anymore... till a few weeks back when my cuzzies pulled me in again and something in my foot clicked while climbing the mountain and the pain that I had been having for months just went away... Praise the Almighty...
Now let's get into the video, I always wanted to do a nature video with the soundtrack from the Lord of the Rings Trilogy... in fact every time i went trekking since the film, I've found myself humming or singing this very track i used : The breaking of the fellowship by Howard Shore with the voice of a little boy: Edward Ross in the end...
Heck I was even singing that while walking to Mount Doom in Reunion Island in September 2016... oh wait, I mean La Fournaise XD... (where I lost my Phantom 3 Pro btw - right in the crater - Geomagnetic disturbance I was told... )
So I finally had matching footage that I could use with that track... with the exception of some of the wordings of the song, when the cold of winter comes - should in fact be when the heat of summer comes, lol - that would be more representative of last Sunday's trek...
All of the footage was taken with the Mavic Air - A very nice little drone... so happy with it... the up and down motion of the camera is not as smooth as the camera on the Phantom 4 Pro/Standard which are the drones i fly most of the time, but they're too heavy to bring on such a trek, that was no less than 12kms on uneven terrain... even with the small Mavic Air, I was completely worn out by the end of the day...
Also worth noting is that most of the footage was taken while I was walking along the path... and that each time, there were no do-overs - it was all a one-shot thing... so there are some instances where I had hoped the motion would be quite fluid but I found out afterwards that they weren't as fluid as I had thought while filming it... but all in all I'm pretty happy with the output...
Also note that the drone was equipped with propeller guards, so it posed no threat at all to the people around ... And I always had my eyes on the drone when i went close to people, piloting without looking at my phone's screen...
So here it goes, hope you enjoy the video... Will be uploaded to facebook too very soon...
Cheers,
Reuben
