Montréal Downtown - Ville-Marie - McGill - Mount Royal - Canada
Downtown Montreal is the central business district of Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Located in the borough of Ville-Marie, the district is situated on the southernmost slope of Mount Royal.
The downtown region houses many corporate headquarters as well a large majority of the city's skyscrapers — which, by law, cannot be greater in height than Mount Royal in order to preserve the aesthetic predominance and intimidation factor of the mountain. The two tallest of these are the 1000 de La Gauchetière and 1250 René-Lévesque, both of which were built in 1992. The Tour de la Bourse is also a significant high-rise and is home to the Montreal Exchange that trades in derivatives. The Montreal Exchange was originally a stock exchange and was the first in Canada. In 1999, all stock trades were transferred to Toronto in exchange for an exclusivity in the derivative trading market.
Place Ville-Marie, an I. M. Pei-designed cruciform office tower built in 1962, sits atop an underground shopping mall that forms the nexus of Montreal's underground city, the world's largest, with indoor access to over 1,600 shops, restaurants, offices, businesses, museums and universities, as well as metro stations, train stations, bus terminals, and tunnels extending all over downtown. The central axis for downtown is Saint Catherine Street, Canada's busiest commercial avenue. The area includes high end retail such as the Holt Renfrew and Ogilvy department stores as well as Les Cours Mont-Royal shopping centre. Other major streets include Sherbrooke Street, Peel, de la Montagne, de Maisonneuve and Crescent.
The skyline may be observed from one of two lookouts on Mount Royal. The lookout at the Belvedere takes in downtown, the river, and the Monteregian Hills.
Downtown Montreal is also home to the main campuses of McGill University and UQAM and the Sir George Williams campus of Concordia University.

Victoria raising money for Japan
VICTORIA - Victoria's Japanese community is coming together to help people in the areas of Japan devastated by earthquakes and tsunamis.
Satomi Edwards has been playing traditional music from Japan for years.
As her fingers glide over the strings, she remembers the time when she was studying music in Tokyo,
Victoria Symphony Orchestra Percussionist Masako Hockey remembers that time as well.
But today, for the two friends, that happy memory is being replaced by fear and sadness following the destruction and loss of life after Japan's earthquakes and tsunamis.
I am very sad, says Hockey during a break in rehearsal for a fundraising concert this weekend.
My country ... it is terrible, the musician says choking back tears describing how she feels about the country she once called home, and how she desperately wants her father to leave Japan.
Hockey and Edwards are staging the concert this Sunday to raise money for the relief effort in Japan.
Edwards hopes the concert will help bring the Victoria Japanese community together so they can lean on each other for support.
The disaster itself does appear to be bringing the community together.
Next week four Japanese cultural groups will hold a fundraising and awareness event at the Hillside Shopping Centre.
Hillside says after meeting organizers, it knew it had to come on board.
At the University Of Victoria there is another show of support.
Gary Lee is making more than one thousand paper cranes.
The proceeds the paper cranes and the other fundraisers are headed for Japan through the Canadian Red Cross.

MONTREAL: No Son Cubanos at Victoria square for Concerts midi Destination centre-ville, 2019
The Concerts midi Destination centre-ville, presented by Broccolini, it’s a program of free summer live shows taking place every Thursday at midday at Victoria Square, from July 4th to September 5th.
No Son Cubanos:
Translation: they are not Cuban!
It is with a lot of freshness, sun and enthusiasm that No Son Cubanos delivers their passion for Cuban music.
With a vast repertoire tinged with humor, the trio brilliantly perform traditional Cuban songs as well as multiple adaptations of classical (Mozart, Beethoven) or modern music (U2, Coldplay), giving you the urge to dance or find yourself on a beach.
The musicians perform music from all horizons and put their own flavour into it. Their show quickly becomes a big party. Through their music, spectators live a moment worthy of a moonlit evening on the edge of the Caribbean Sea.
An evening with No Son Cubanos is reminiscent of a holiday in the south, or a moonlit evening in a Caribbean club.
