Summerleaze Beach is Bude’s central hub of sand, surf and sun, and it’s the first port of call for many visitors.
Clean, safe and easy on the eye, Summerleaze Beach is a big hit with surfers, beach bums and families. However, it is the sheer variety of activities that mark Summerleaze as arguably the best beach in Cornwall for outdoor pursuits and water sports.
There are superb local surf schools, for example, but you could also try kayaking, sea fishing or sample the thrills of climbing or coasteering with friendly professionals.
Summerleaze Beach also has features that show why Bude is popular for family friendly and disability friendly holidays. A group of Cornwall-based UFO enthusiasts are asking for the public's help to identify a mystery object caught on camera in Bude this week.
The picture was taken at Summerleaze Beach on Tuesday at lunchtime, and shows a grey triangular object in the sky on the right hand side of the photo.

Bude hottest summer 2018
Bude is a small seaside resort town in north Cornwall, England, UK, in the civil parish of Bude-Stratton and at the mouth of the River Neet (also known locally as the River Strat). It is sometimes formerly known as Bude Haven. It lies southwest of Stratton, south of Flexbury and Poughill, and north of Widemouth Bay and is located along the A3073 road off the A39. Bude is twinned with Ergué-Gabéric in Brittany, France] Bude's coast faces Bude Bay in the Celtic Sea, part of the Atlantic Ocean. The population of the civil parish can be found under Bude-Stratton.
Its earlier importance was as a harbour, and then a source of sea sand useful for improving the moorland soil. The Victorians favoured it as a watering place, and it was a popular seaside destination in the 20th century.

This piece of film was taken at Summerleaze Beach in Bude. Due to the time of the filming (sunset) i had to make sure i could capture as much of the beach in the time i had to capture the lighting at its best. When getting to the beach i found there wasn't much to capture due to the quietness of the night, therefore i tried to get as many different shots capturing the place as possible. The lighting made the clips more exciting and gave off a relaxing environment. I was very lucky when filming that the wind was very low, this allowed me to get some good sounds of the sea and the people around in the area. A negative that i found was the tide was low. I wanted to get some shots of surfers, however this wasn't possible due to the levels. I felt if i was able to get some good shots of surfers that it would of made the overall clip more exciting. Due to the lack of excitement of the footage i tried my best to get as many different clips as possible to add good variation throughout the film. One part which i thought was especially successful was the lighting throughout the clip. It was important that due to it being sunset, i had to get the different lighting variations included as much as possible. The ending shot is one of my favourites although it is very basic, the waves plus the lighting of the sunset reflecting on the sea makes it very colourful and pleasant to watch. Overall i am happy with the footage, however if i was to do it again i would of moved the camera around more to give a better variation of shot to try make it more exciting for the viewer.
