Sun Moon Lake (Chinese: 日月潭; pinyin: Rìyuè tán; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Ji̍t-goa̍t-thâm; Thao: Zintun) is the largest body of water in Taiwan as well as a tourist attraction. Located in Yuchi Township, Nantou County, the area around the Sun Moon Lake is home to the Thao tribe, one of aboriginal tribes of Taiwan. Sun Moon Lake surrounds a tiny island called Lalu. The east side of the lake resembles a sun while the west side resembles a moon, hence the name.
Sun Moon Lake is located 748 m (2,454 ft) above sea level. It is 27 m (89 ft) deep and has a surface area of approximately 7.93 km2 (3.06 sq mi). The area surrounding the lake has many trails for hiking.
While swimming in Sun Moon Lake is usually not permitted, there is an annual 3-km race called the Swimming Carnival of Sun Moon Lake held around the Mid-Autumn Festival each year. In recent years the participants have numbered in the tens of thousands. Other festivities held at the same time include fireworks, laser shows, and concerts.
The lake and its surrounding countryside have been designated one of thirteen national scenic areas in Taiwan. Wen Wu Temple was built after rising water levels from building a dam forced several smaller temples to be removed. Ci En Pagoda (慈恩塔; Cí'ēn Tǎ) was built by late President Chiang Kai-shek in 1971 in memory of his mother. Other temples of note include Jianjing Temple, Syuentzang Temple (玄奘寺; Xuánzàng Sì) and Syuanguang Temple (玄光寺; Xuánguāng Sì).

The Sun Moon Lake Ropeway is a scenic gondola cable car service that connects Sun Moon Lake with the Formosa Aboriginal Culture Village (九族文化村) theme park.
Built in 2001 by world-renowned Austrian firm Doppelmayr utilizing solar and hydro-electric power, the ropeway's cars are painted red, yellow, and blue to symbolize the red sun, yellow moon, and blue lake, as well as the Aboriginal culture red for happiness, yellow for healthy lifestyle (LOHAS), and blue for ecology.
Although tickets are also sold independently from the amusement park, the entrance ticket for Formosa Aboriginal Culture Village (九族文化村)includes unlimited rides on the ropeway, so it is recommended to purchase a park ticket and enjoy the park since the cable car travels there anyway.
The Sun Moon Lake station is just outside of the Ita Thao (伊達邵) village, slightly to the north, while the park station is located within the park.

Weekdays - 10:30AM to 4PM.

Touche Reservoir is a tourist attraction and natural beauty spot at Sun Moon Lake in the center of Taiwan.
Here are 10 things you should know about Touche Reservoir:
1. Touche Reservoir is located in the southeast corner of Sun Moon Lake (Taiwan’s largest body of water).
2. The word Touche is also spelled “T'ou-she” by the local Taiwanese people.
3. Touche Reservoir can be accessed via Provincial Highway No. 21, which encircles Sun Moon Lake.
4. The best way to enjoy Touche Reservoir is to rent en e-bike and cycle around on the bike path.
5. Touche Reservoir is surrounded by peaks from the Hehuan Mountain Range which offer amazing photo opportunities.
6. There is a campground nearby, right between HW 21 and the reservoir.
7. This is how Touche Reservoir is written with Chinese characters: 頭社水庫.
8. Touche Reservoir belongs to Yuchi Township in Nantou County, the second largest county of Taiwan.
9. Swimming, fishing, and sailing are not allowed at Touche Reservoir.
10. Before you engage in any outdoor activities at Touche Reservoir, contact the local Office of Natural Resources to find out their restrictions and regulations.

Water temp: as close to a boil as possible
Tea volume: the amount of tea used will influence the steep time as well as the number of times you can re-steep your leaves. In this video, we are using about 8g of tea which means we can have relatively quick steep times in the neighborhood of one minute. With this much tea of this type, we can re-steep about eight times.
Steep time: the first infusion is very quick, about 1 second. This is considered a rinse, which can be enjoyed or used to warm the cups and sharing vessel. For the next infusion, about 45 seconds, and then each subsequent infusion is from 45 seconds to about 1 minute and 30 seconds, with the longer infusions toward the end.
