Travel Guide: Suncheon Bay National Garden (순천만국가정원), South Korea [UHD]
The Suncheon Bay Garden was established in order to turn 1.12 square kilometers of natural habitat into a conservation area, where it houses over 505 species of trees and 113 species of flowers. Especially, the numerous groups of tulips and royal azaleas are truly a sight to see. In addition, the nearby 30,000-square-meter field of canola flowers is in full bloom in May, which creates a beautiful yellow wave of color and trees make a great shades of canopy for the area.
Getting there is fairly easy as buses and an unmanned shuttle train (PRT) opened along with the Suncheon Bay Garden and Suncheon Literature Center district (4.64 km) are available for service. Visitors can hop on the PRT and go to the literature center, then also ride the train along the 1.2-kilometer stretch of reeds to Mujingyo Bridge.

Suncheon Bay National Garden is located in Suncheon in South Jeolla Province, South Korea. The area of the garden is 1.112 km² plus 28 km² of Suncheon Bay. There are about 860,000 trees and 650,000 autumn flowers such as roses, sunflowers, and cosmos flowers are planted in the garden.

Suncheon located in the province of JeollanamDo, it is a scenic agricultural and industrial city. Especially Naganeupseong Folk Village is a popular place to tour of Korean ancient's lifestyle views and also list for inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Sogang's student exchange program organized a field trip to tour a city outside of Seoul. Suncheon is a city outside of Seoul that is known for Suncheon Bay which is a wetland reserve. Suncheon also has beautiful gardens as well. Our program chose Suncheon because not many foreigners get to visit this area or partake in some cultural traditions. It was a nice getaway from the city. The specific places we visited was: Suncheon Bay National Garden, Songgwangsa, Seonamsa, and Nagan Eupseong Folk Village (Traditional Korean Village)

SOUTH KOREAN COUNTRYSIDE (Suncheon Folk Village and Bay Gardens) | South Korea Travel
Today we are out of the city and in the South Korean Countryside! We are staying in Suncheon which is nestled in the countryside, but is still a pretty built-up town.
We ventured out of town to visit Naganeupseong Folk Village in the morning, which was so quaint and beautiful, and very quiet!
We then stopped for a quick lunch in GS25 and then moved on to Suncheon Bay National Gardens. Again, it was totally stunning and virtually tourist-free!

A highly recommended place to visit in spring.
I guess it's the best place to find sea of tulips.
Not a lot overseas tourist spotted as it is in a rural area.
A must for people who love taking photos and enjoy nature.
Recommended for family trips and picnics. Enjoyable!

Suncheon Biosphere Reserve, Republic of Korea
Situated on the southern tip of the Korean Peninsula, the biosphere reserve includes the terrestrial ecosystems surrounding Suncheon City (centred on Mount Mohusan and Mount Jogyesan), as well as coastal tidal flat wetland ecosystems in Suncheonman Bay. The site’s rich biological resources include crustaceans, fish and shellfish, as well as medicinal herbs, communities of reeds (Phragmites communis) and East Asian Seepweed (Suaeda japonica). The inhabitants – rural, fishing and mountain-dwelling villagers – utilize ecosystem services in their economic activities, which include rice cultivation, medicinal herbs and fruits such as plums and persimmons.

[TRAVEL JEOLLA] Suncheon Tour: Seonam Temple, Nagan Folk Village & Suncheon Bay National Garden / 순천
2016 Asia Foreign Student Community in Suncheon Tour was a trip organised by UCC (Universal Culture Center) and The Forest.

Here is the 3 places we visited:
-Seonamsa Temple (선암사-순천):
Seonamsa is a beautiful temple located at the west end of Mt. Jogyesan. You have to walk about 1 km from the entrance to reach the temple. If you go along the valley, two rainbow shaped bridges appear; the large one at the back is Seungseon Bridge. Seungseon Bridge is designated as National Treasure No. 400, and it is Korea’s most beautiful arched stone bridge. Because it blends in so well with the valley below, it is often used as shooting location for movies and TV shows.
- Naganeupseong Folk Village (낙안읍성민속마을):
Naganeupseong Folk Village is located in Jeollanam-do Province and contains a town castle. Within the east, south and west of the castle, about 100 families still reside, and the castle area has been very well preserved. The folk village’s other source of pride is the monument of General Im Kyeong-Eop (1594~1646). At every first full moon of the new year, they hold a ritual ceremony and celebration at the general’s monument, with games such as seesaw jumping, swings, and other folk activities.
Nagan Village is also really famous for its Fortress. From there, you can see all the beautiful rice padies and Jeollanamdo vicinity.
- The Suncheon Bay National Garden (순천만국가정원):
Designated as Korea's representative garden, Suncheon Bay National Garden is one of the biggest garden i ever seen. It's divided into different areas like The Korean Traditional Garden, The Dream Bridge, Suncheon Bay International Wetland Center, Metasequoia path, Sunchen Lake Garden... and so on.
I really appreciated to see gardens from all around the world and the outdoor architecture is amazing !
