Skating in Renews
The video was shot in Renews NL, on Jan. 19th 2017 using a DJI Phantom 3 Pro Drone.
While videoing the local kids skating in Renews, we were lucky enough to capture these two Sr.'s skating on Boat Cove. 67 year old Joe Dunne, and 69 year old Fred Goodridge. Both men played Sr. hockey with the Renews Royals in the late 1960's - early 1970's. The last time they skated together on Boat Cove was over 40 years ago.
Boat Cove was the main pond for skating in Renews. It was once so big that a small plane landed on the pond, in the 1930's, bringing vaccinations to the area for Diphtheria. Sadly, today, Boat Cove is a fraction of it's former self. Young families, trying to revitalize community skating, are now in the process of developing a new pond on the S.S. of Renews.
