São Pedro Surf break - Spot Nº8 on our adventure from Portugal to Morocco. São Pedro has a nice, soft, long and mellow point break and can also handle some swell size. Almost always very crowded and it's not exactly a high performance wave, more a long-board kind of wave.

When I moved to Portugal 18 years ago this was basically the spot I surfed more in the beginning, because São Pedro is a good spot to learn how to surf. The wave is soft and you actually have time to enjoy a long ride.

Spot Nº 3 - Bolina beach surf break in Estoril Portugal
I am so lucky to have a spot like this just 2 minutes drive from my house! This spot is excellent but only works between October and March. So don't get your hopes up if you come to Bolina in the summer, because it will be as flat as a lake. You can park your car at praia da Poça and walk to Tamariz. On your way you will find a Bar called Bolina, then look towards the sea and it's there.
This was definitely a memorable session with legends in the water like Vasco Ribeiro and Tiago Pires (Saca) steeling the show.

Beautiful São Pedro do Estoril. You can see the power of the waves in our beach.
The beach of São Pedro do Estoril is a small stretch of sand backed by cliffs and rocks at either end.
Whilst the beach itself is sandy once you step into the sea you will discover the bottom is rocky. Whilst this makes it a great spot for snorkelling and isn't an issue at higher tides, it can be a little hard on the feet - and watch out for the urchins! This also means there are plenty of rock pools for the kids at low tide.
Praia de São Pedro is a good surf spot on its day. Benefiting from the shelter of the cliffs that form the point São Pedro is often an option when Carcavelos is blown out. There is a sort of point break here, with a right hander breaking towards the middle of the beach.

Surf em Estoril - Portugal Julho 2016
Graças à Linha de Cascais (o nome advém do comboio que liga Cascais com Lisboa), e à Marginal (nome da estrada que contorna todo a costa desde o centro de Lisboa até Cascais), quase todas as praias beneficiam de fácil acesso através de transporte público bem como por transporte privado.
Várias praias comunicam entre si através do 'paredão', que é um passeio marítimo em cima da muralha junto às praias, com boa iluminação nocturna, que inclui vários bancos de descanso, bares, infra estrutura para exercício físico, fitness, e excelente para 'jogging'.
A maior parte destas praias são vigiadas durante a época de verão e tem ao dispor do banhista, vários bares, restaurantes e balneários.
As praias são tão distintas umas das outras que uma pessoa vai encontrar de certeza a sua favorita de entre elas.

Next spot on my search for surf breaks is Poça beach (praia da Poça) in São João de Estoril Portugal. Praia da Poça is a small, sandy urban beach with rocky areas, backed by a promenade with cafes. Nice place to chill and watch the surf.

I live 2 minutes from this beach so it's the surfspot I definitely have surfed the most in Portugal. I work from home, so when I need a break a get dressed and run to the beach. This spot has lots of tubular sections and is very fast. Excellent spot for surfing (not a good place to learn how to surf) or just to chill out at one of the restaurants in front of the beach and watch the scene.
It's easy to get there: From Cascais just go direction Lisbon on a road called marginal and after Estoril you will see a road sign to your right saying Praia da Poça.
Where to eat:
**Restaurant Surpresa** in front of the beach (go for the grilled fish): I have been coming here for almost two decades and it's a nice place to chill, have some beers and watch the surf.
**Restaurant Lamassa** (romantic dinner with excellent Italian food):
