This video shows normal surfers tackling the worlds biggest Wavegarden designed wave pool, from many different angles. It's interesting to see how the normal surfers get on surfing the wave. Filmed on 18th August 2015, before the drain and repair works.
There was a strong wind blowing this day also, and the 90 second waiting time between waves didn't really give the water enough time to settle between some of the waves. Speaking to some of the staff, to get the perfect glassy conditions that surfers crave there needs to be at least 3 minutes waiting time between waves. Still looked fun though and it was better than being flat!!!

Surf Snowdonia has a freshwater pool which contains a wave-generation mechanism, based on a prototype built in San Sebastián, Spain, by the Spanish company Wavegarden. It has a contoured base that can generate three different sized waves, at a rate of one a minute. The pool can generate a 2-metre (6 ft 7 in) high wave which can last 16 seconds and travel 150 metres (490 ft). The company claims this is the longest man-made surf wave in the world. The pool is filled with rainwater collected from Snowdonia reservoirs including Llyn Cowlyd. This water passes through the adjacent hydro-power station, originally built to power the former aluminium plant, before being pumped from the tail-race into the surfing pool.
The pool is 300 metres (980 ft) long and 110 metres (360 ft) wide, containing a total of six million gallons of water. A bi-directional snowplough-shaped wave-generation mechanism, towed on a cable between the two central towers, moves up and down the pool on a three-rail track, generating the waves. The underwater machinery, powered by a 2MW motor, is covered with a protective stainless steel netted screen, to keep surfers from any moving parts, yet without impairing the energy of the waves. The water in the pool is cleaned and cycled every 24 hours by passing through ultraviolet cleaners, so that the water can be chlorine-free.
The wave pool can be used by as many as 52 surfers at one time.
On 18-19 September 2015 Surf Snowdonia will host Red Bull Unleashed, the world's first stadium surf contest, with 24 surfers from around the world.

Building the Surf Snowdonia Wave Garden in the Conwy Valley village of Dolgarrog - part 1
Dolgarrog Dam Disaster, Memorial Walk
On 2nd November 1925, the failure of two dams caused a flood that swamped the village of Dolgarrog, killing 16 people, including 6 children. The disaster was started by the failure of the Eigiau Dam, a gravity dam owned by the Aluminium Corporation. The water released from the reservoir flooded downstream, and overtopped the Coedty Dam, an embankment dam. This dam also subsequently failed releasing millions of gallons of water and thousands of tons of Ice Age boulders down a narrow gorge onto the village.
Many more villagers could have been killed had they not been in the local assembly rooms watching a film that night.
The disaster at Dolgarrog led the British parliament to pass the Reservoirs (Safety Provisions) Act in 1930 that introduced laws on the safety of reservoirs. This has since been updated, and the current one is the Reservoirs Act, 1975.
In 2004 a £60,000 memorial trail was created, explaining the tragic story to walkers. The trail takes visitors to where the boulders from the damaged dam reside. The project was opened by the last survivor of the dam disaster, Fred Brown, who on that night lost his mother and his younger sister.
Major refurbishment works were carried out to the memorial walk in 2017 - The site is located next to the B5106 Conway Road close to Surf Snowdonia.

Massive Pile Driver passes through Dolgarrog
The pile driver and the low loader travel separately over the three bridges within Dolgarrog village because of weight issues. Here the pile driver is loaded back on to the low loader to the final bridge before reaching the Welsh Water Treatment Works which are being upgraded.
Red Bull Unleashed 2015 UK – Snowdonia – Action Clip
More than 2,000 spectators turned out on Saturday 19th September to see the world’s first ever stadium-style surfing event, Red Bull Unleashed.
It was a surprisingly scorching afternoon in North Wales as the final eight riders went head-to-head at Surf Snowdonia’s artificial wave pool. In the end it was crowd favourite Albee Layer (HAW) who became the first ever Red Bull Unleashed champion, after a string of spectacular displays carried him to victory over the plucky Billy Stairmand (NZL).
The competition was able to bring the crowd closer to the action than has ever been seen before, paving the way for a new era in competitive surfing. The athletes and spectators revelled in the unique man-on-man duel concept, which saw pairs of surfers go head to head, wave for wave, in a best of five format.

RB Unleashed ist ein neuartiger Surf-Wettkampf mit einigen der besten Free-Surfern der Welt. Dieser einzigartige Wettbewerb fand diesen Samstag, 19. September im Surf Snowdonia „Wavegarden“ in Wales statt. Surf Snowdonia ist die weltweit größte künstlich angelegte Surfanlage auf dem Festland. Die Pro-Surfer erwarteten Wellen auf Abruf – ohne dem unvorhersehbaren Lotterie-Spiel nach der Richtigen Welle, dem richtigen Wind oder dem richtigen Swell . Jeder Athlet startete somit unter denselben Bedingungen in einem spannend Head-to-Head Format, welches so einmalig in diesem Sport ist. Mehr als 2.000 Zuschauer, darunter auch Surf-Star Jordy Smith, folgten dem Geschehen aus nächster Nähe.
In einem spannenden Finale standen sich der Publikumsliebling Albee Layer (HAW) und Billy Stairmand (NZL) gegenüber. Am Ende war es der Hawaiianer der zum allerersten RB Unleashed Champion gekürt wurde.
