See Through the Lens of the World's Best Underwater Surf Photographer | Ben Thouard in “Surface
SURFACE, a ROAM Original, is the story of how award-winning photographer Ben Thouard invented a new perspective of our world—shot underwater from inside a wave looking back at the landscape as never seen before. His love of the ocean, surfing, and windsurfing brought him to the small village of Teahupoo, Tahiti, where he can see the legendary surf break from his backyard. From the crystal clear waters of French Polynesia, his creative vision and desire to do something original took hold. After 15 years of trial and error, failure and success, he persevered to discover his own signature photographic style, as seen in his stunning new book, SURFACE. He hopes this new vision of our oceans, in their most pristine form, will inspire others to protect them. “Through this work, I hope people can realize that we need to take care of our garbage and recycle all of the plastic,” says Ben.

Whales Stock Footage From Tahiti / Banque D'Images Sous Marines, Baleines A Bosse, Polynesie
Maybe one the most intensive encounters in the area... Humpback Whales come from south pole to give birth and mate, in French Polynesia. They stay for a while from july to november. That is the time for filming and getting nice shots. Watch and choose more whale stock footage on the site to complete your broadcast and non broadcast projects (film, advertising, documentary, webmovie etc)

Kaleomanuiwa Wong | Polynesian Voyaging Society || Radcliffe Institute
In 1975, when the Hōkūleʻa was built and launched from the shores of Hawaii and set course for the nearest landfall 2,500 miles away with no GPS, no compass, and no modern day navigational assistance, both Hawaiian and non-Hawaiian spectators were convinced the project would be a failure. But thanks to traditional navigation techniques, which use the stars along with ocean swells, the canoe was able to successfully traverse through the middle of the ocean from Hawaii to Tahiti.
Forty-one years later, Hōkūleʻa is in the midst of a three-year, worldwide voyage established to create global relationships and explore how to care for our oceans. Sailing in the wake of its ancestors, the Polynesian Voyaging Society carries a message of mālama honua, caring for Island Earth and each other. Using their canoes as a platform, its members hope to bridge cultural tradition and modern technology, timeless values and new visions—and to inspire the next generation of leaders to build sustainable solutions for Island Earth’s future.

OCEAN GRAVITY - Guillaume Néry / Julie Gautier
Ocean Gravity is a short film that rewrite the rules of the underwater world and takes us this time into the world of the weightlessness.
Just like in the space, there isn’t anymore a top or a bottom. There isn’t anymore upside down and wrong side out. The ocean becomes cosmos, the man a satellite, and the bottom of the sea an unknown planet. Welcome in the fascinating universe of Ocean Gravity.
Guillaume: «since ever, my diving propels my imagination in the fantasy of the conquest of space. To touch the sea floor or to set foot on an unexplored planet, here are 2 fascinating adventures which feed my thirst of unknown. The discovery of this quite unique place (Tiputa - Rangiroa - French Polynesia), allowed us to put in image the visual closeness of 2 universes water and air, ocean and space.»
