The mild ocean waves are a perfect spot for beginners and experienced surfers alike. Strong winds attract the kiteborders from all over the island and beyond. There are several surf schools in town, and almost any given weekend student can be seen out on the water.

It's the second day of my Puerto Rico Trip! I start the morning learning to surf at Luquillo Beach, followed by lunch at the Luquillo Kiosks! Later in the day I take you guys on a tour of the Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Resort and end the night by kayaking in a Bioluminescent Bay!

The locals flock to this shore for its reef-protected calm waves, and there are a lot of day trippers fresh from a jaunt in the nearby El Yunque National Rainforest. It is one of the most popular and nicest public beaches located about 40 km east of San Juan. In the video you will see some visibly damaged palm trees and other foliage because of Hurricane Maria. The Beach Park itself (the peninsula; also shown in the thumbnail photo) was closed during this time as the parking lot was being repaired because of damage from Hurricane Maria.

On this day I flew my drone over beautiful Luquillo, Puerto Rico. Luquillo is situated between the Atlantic coastline and El Yunque National Rainforest. Luquillo Beach is situated here too, which is one the nicest beaches in the area. This town is located about 40 minutes east of San Juan. If you are ever in the area don't forget to stop by.

When autumn arrives on the US East Coast, surfers go on red alert for hurricane swells. For pros like Balaram Stack, who's from New York, that means dropping everything and sprinting to the airport for a last-minute flight to the Caribbean for some warm, blue tubes with locals like Brian Toth. The fire drill came late last month. When a hurricane moved up the East Coast, filmer Jacob Vanderwork jumped on a plane to meet Stack, Toth, Marley Pugliell, and other rippers in Puerto Rico. He was not disappointed.
