Beaches, Beers, Breaks & Baguettes - A French West Coast Adventure
In October last year we decided to take on a road trip down the West coast of France.
Having spent a long time getting the van (Doris) ready for such a trip it seemed only right to give her a good run out into foreign lands.
We sailed from Portsmouth to Caen with the intention of surfing, camping, and generally exploring whatever the French coastline had to offer.
With initial stop in Quiberon and a final destination of Hossegor to catch the Quiksilver Pro competition we had a rough plan; but between there ... was anyone's guess.
We had heard the waves would be getting bigger in October and although we aren't seasoned surfers we were fairly confident our couple of practice sessions in Wales had given us all the training we needed.
The trip was a perfect mini adventure with wild camps, beers, baguettes, huge waves, never ending tree lined roads, new friends, more beers, mouthfuls of sand, sunrises, sunsets, car park campsites, pizza's, skateparks, no showers, miles upon miles of beaches, familiar faces, surf frustrations, getting the shots, not getting the shots, good music, and good times. Here's the short film from our 10 days away... Enjoy!
Feel free to ask us any questions about the trip if you're planning to go on a similar road trip.
