Dukes Head Beare Green Dorking Promotion - Synergy Of Integrated Marketing
A great way to learn is to analyse the work, both good and bad done by others. Whilst our main interest is in using digital marketing to promote businesses we are interested in how they can be integrated with traditional marketing. Whilst the use of leafleting is a bit old hat, however they have linked various elements together. This video highlights a very good promotion that this Dorking pub in Surrey close to where I live have done.
It was good in that they combined a number of different promotions together. The synergy of 1 + 1 being greater than 2.
They organised a major event that was supported by key sponsors.
They tied the promotion a great competition to eat free for a year. This encourages people to enter their details that can then be used afterwards to engage with their clients.
When thinking of doing promotions it is a good idea to think of the true cost to your business of the promotional options you are considering. This one is relatively cheap, which is often the case with most businesses. In the case of restaurants many meals will only be costing around 25% versus the benefit to the consumer.
They also tied the promotions to their best offers. One key question is do you know which are the best performing offers that you have? If not how can you track their performance?
I have also created a video to show their promotion and some of my views more clearly.
One can always wait for better promotions or make them perfect, however it is often better to act rather than wait for the perfect solution.
They have a lot of the information that they use on their Facebook page which is great. If one was to be fussy they do not yet have other social media integrated such as Twitter and Youtube.
I will see if I can visit, perhaps this weekend and see their efforts and perhaps see how the promotion went.

This 16th century Independent Public house is just outside of Dorking in the Surrey Hills. From Dorking take the Horsham Road to Bear Green.
They can cover catering and events.
They have just changed ownership and they offer fantastic Sunday lunches & amazing food all the rest of the week.
Great if you have kids as they have a great children's play area and has plenty of external seating.
Do not worry about your food requirements as they have menus that can cover all sorts of tastes, vegetarians to great British pub food.
Great beers and ales from Dorking Brewery, Surrey Hills Brewery and Fullers.
On the 20th and 21st of July they are hosting a beer festival at the Dukes Head where there will be 13 real ales for you to try, along with several wines and ciders.

Cobham is a village in the Borough of Elmbridge in Surrey, England, centred 17 miles south-west of London and 10 miles northeast of Guildford on the River Mole. It has a commercial/services High Street, a significant number of primary and private schools and the Painshill landscape park.
Cobham is an ancient settlement whose origins can be traced back on the ground through Roman times to the Iron Age. It lay within the Elmbridge hundred. Cobham appears in Domesday Book as Covenham and was held by Chertsey Abbey. Historically, Cobham other than outlying farms comprised two developed areas, Street Cobham and Church Cobham. The former lay on the Portsmouth-London Road, and the building now known as the Cobham Exchange was once a coaching inn. The latter grew up around St. Andrew's Church, which dates from the 12th century.
Cobham fits into a triangle between the River Mole to the south, the A3 to the north and a borderline for the most part on the nearside of the (New) London to Guildford railway line to the southeast – directly west of Oxshott. On the southern border is the historic village, Stoke D'Abernon, part of the small post town, which gives its name to the railway station between the two areas on the line mentioned: Cobham and Stoke D'Abernon.
At the heart of Cobham is the Church Cobham Conservation Area, which was designated in 1973 and includes fourteen statutory listed buildings. Amongst these are Pyports, once the home of Vernon Lushington; the picturesque Church Stile House; and two fine houses overlooking the River Mole: Ham Manor and Cedar House, the latter owned by the National Trust.
Across the river from the church into Downside village, the estate of Cobham Park was the home of John Ligonier, 1st Earl Ligonier, who was made Commander-in-Chief of the army in 1757. In 1806 Cobham Park was bought by Harvey Christian Combe a brewer and Lord Mayor of London. The present house was completed in 1873 by his nephew, Charles Combe, to a design by Edward Middleton Barry: it has now been divided into apartments. At the other end of the village, beside the A3, Painshill Park is a fine 18th-century landscape garden, restored from dereliction since 1980. Painshill House dates from the 18th century and has also been divided into apartments.
Two other large houses on the outskirts of Cobham have been taken over by schools: Heywood is now the American Community School, and Burwood House is now Notre Dame School. Chelsea F.C.'s training ground is nearby, close to Cobham and Stoke d'Abernon railway station and some of its more deluxe private homes belong to Chelsea's players. The Fairmile or eastern part of the parish has a high proportions of mansions and gated roads.
The River Mole provides a setting for Cobham's best-known landmark which is the red brick water mill, constructed Late 18C and once part of a much larger complex. Thereafter, the Cobham Mill Preservation Trust was formed as a sister organisation to the Cobham Conservation Group and took over the leasehold. The building was restored to full working order by the volunteers of the Cobham Mill Preservation Trust, and first opened to the public in 1993. Cobham Mill is now open to the public from 2 pm to 5 pm on the second Sunday of each month between April and October, inclusive.
To the north and west of the town is the A3 trunk road, a major arterial route from London to Portsmouth. This road links to the M25 motorway at Junction 10, immediately to the southwest of Cobham. The A307, Portsmouth Road starts in Cobham and runs northwards to the adjoining town of Esher. This is also known as the old A3. The A245 runs through the centre of the town and leads to Leatherhead in the south-east and Byfleet to the west. Cobham & Stoke d'Abernon railway station, opened in 1885, is on the New Guildford Line from London Waterloo.

Leatherhead resident Chalky White has been telling BBC News how has been helping at the Running Horse pub which was flooded following the recent storms.
It filled up with water to about six foot and we had to shut it down, he said, It's not so bad now, but this morning everything was floating about, kegs had turned over... it is a mess.
Mr White has been helping landlord clean up but admitted: I'd rather be standing at the bar having a beer!

The Best Walk Near London | The Warren

The Warren is a secret semi-tropical habitat perched along the white cliffs of Dover. You would never believe that it exists until you descend down through the canopy and into the Warren of paths beneath. Before reaching the warren you are able to see the entrance to the Calais Tunnel from the beautiful North Downs Escarpment. It is the most enjoyable way to spend a sunny day if you are searching for a day walk easily accessible from London. There are flora and fauna that are unique to this location. It truly is like visiting a rainforest, here in Kent, UK.
We researched some of the best walks to do in Kent and through the website Out-of-The-Loop we were recommended this walk entitled White Cliffs and the Warren. It is a 45-minute train ride from Stratford International. So if you live in East London this is one of the most perfect walks for you.

The upgrade of the beer garden at the Shepherd and Dog Pub in Fulking has created a wonderful area to enjoy the stunning Sussex countryside and the view up to Devils Dyke. And with the arrival of the garden bar, you don't even have to queue inside for your drinks. It really is the ideal way for families and dog walkers to enjoy this idyllic spot. Dog friendly, Family friendly, Beer friendly - what a marvelous combination.

Gemini beer produced for Hampton Court Palace Flower Show after our International exchange programme
Dorking Brewery have produced a beer called Gemini in a unique partnership with us. It uses British grain and American hops to pay homage to our exchange programme between the UK, South Africa and America, Project Gemini.
The main aim of the exchange is to allow blind veterans to share stories, ideas and information about sight loss and how it affects them. It’s a week twice a year where they can all come together to learn from and support one another. Our thanks to British Airways and Revision Military for their ongoing support of this programme.
At Hampton Court Palace Flower Show the beer was displayed in a 'beer hive' and demonstrated the importance of how a social environment helps our blind veterans open up about their experiences, build confidence and decrease their isolation.
