(more vlogs coming soon!)
What an incredible experience learning how to make sushi from an expert! I booked this ~3.5 hour lesson through Airbnb and ended up being the only person to book with Chef Nori for his lunch class! We first met at his local grocery store where we went through many ingredients including fish, rice, soy sauce, miso soup components, and more! We then went back to his home where we had a brief history of sushi and then prepared the sushi rice. He then showed me the steps of making nigiri sushi with fluffy play-doh (not shown), and then we went into the real deal. Nori taught me about sushi knives and how to properly cut the fish and then we got into forming the nigiri. He also taught me how to make other kinds of sushi not filmed and then we had a lovely lunch together. I am so grateful to have learned so much from Nori this afternoon and I hope you learned a little bit too!

Michelin Star Sushi vs Traditional Sushi | Tokyo Sushi Restaurants
Some of Tokyo's best high-end sushi restaurants that have excellent quality at a fair price. Since the reservations and wait for the 3 michelin star Sukiyabashi Jiro Sushi restaurant can be more than months or years, I thought I could give you some alternative restaurants that deliver when it comes to omakase sushi!
This time I was able to try sushi from Sushi Kimura, a michelin 2 star sushi restaurant.
What's different about Kimura’s sushi compared to the other 20 michelin starred sushi restaurants in Tokyo, is that he serves aged fish sushi. More than 90% of the michelin starred sushi restaurants serve edomae sushi which consists of the traditional raw fish.
I was also able to try sushi from Sushi Namba, a small 12 seater sushi shop located in the local suburbs of Tokyo and has run purely by word of mouth for 50 years. (This time I had permission to film and share his work with you here :D)
Having both the chef's prepare the sushi right in front of me, and seeing how concentrated, passionate and serious they were about sushi was truly inspiring.
Hope you guys enjoy the video and the sushi experience :)

We visited the Shin Yokohama Ramen Museum for lunch | Japan Travel Guide
We visited the Shin Yokohama Ramen Museum for lunch and it was an amazing ramen marathon eating experience! The museum starts at ground level with a modern overview of the history of Ramen in Japan showing all the different types of ramen from various regions. Once you delve into the basement of the museum you are transported back in time to an ancient Japanese town with billboards and decor all set to look like an old town in Japan. From here you can experience 9 different types of Ramen from different regions around the country. Each of the 9 different types will change every once and a while so Ramen covered in the video may not exist in the museum anymore upon visiting. You can try half sized Ramen from each spot in order to give you the best chance of sampling each regions Ramen. Unfortunately, we only made it through 4 spots before throwing int the towel. The main advice I would give is try each different type of Ramen if you can in order to gain a full experience. So try a Salt, Shoyu, Miso, and any other unique type of Ramen. That way you get to sample the real variety that Japan has to offer.

Tokyo's Maguro Sushi Set, the A5 Wagyu Steak of the Sea ★ ONLY in JAPAN
Maguro (Tuna) Sushi is best eaten in Japan, of course, and no place is fresher than Tsukiji Market ー but wait! The tuna auction has moved to Toyosu 3km / 1.8mi down the road and Tsukiji market is closed, right? Not exactly. Tsukiji’s inner market (where the main fish market was located) is gone but the outer market is open where some of the best sushi shops in Tokyo still exist! One of them is Sushi Zanmai, my favorite chain shop where price meets quality for an excellent everyday sushi fix. Joining me to rate the maguro sushi is Mikey Chen from Strictly Dumpling who is having sushi for the first time. Before trying it at the high end places, it's best to try it here.
The costs of Maguro sushi at Sushi Zanmai (Menu)
▶︎ Otoro (fatty Tuna) 421 yen ($4.00) each
▶︎ Aburitoro (blow torched fatty tuna) 421 yen ($4.00) each
▶︎ Chutoro (mid fatty level) 329 yen ($3.00) each
▶︎ Akami (lean red tuna) 218 yen (2.00) each
▶︎ Negitoro (minced tuna wrap with green onions) $2.50
★ Thank you to Mikey Chen for collaborating with me. We ate A LOT! Check out his version of our sushi adventure in Tsukiji coming on Tuesday.

▶︎ Where is Sushi Zanmai?
They have many locations around Japan, especially Tokyo but the main shop is located in Tsukiji's Outer Market. (Note: there are several Sushi Zanmai shops here but I recommend the main shop called “honten”)
Yes - the statue is Kiyoshi Kimura, the sushi king, who buys the most expensive blue fin tuna every new year!

Spending a day and night in Yokohama, Japan!
Even though I live in Tokyo, I have never visited Yokohama! I decided to spend a day and night in Yokohama, Japan and see and do the tourist attractions. This was my first time seeing the Yokohama Cosmo Clock as well as the Yokohama China Town which isn’t just the biggest Chinatown in Japan but also actually the biggest Chinatown in Asia! Even though Yokohama is very close to Tokyo, it has a very different atmosphere! We also went to see the Landmark Tower with Japans fastest elevator! On clear days you can see Mount Fuji from the top of the tower. We stayed in Hotel Vista Premio Yokohama Minato-Mirai. From the rooms you have a beautiful view of Cosmo Clock and the Yokohama Harbour!
Japan is the most exciting and culturally different place I have ever been to. It has so much to offer! I hope you can follow my journey and we can explore this incredible place together!

Yokohama Street Food Tour | Japan's Largest Chinatown!
In this video we take you on a Yokohama street food tour through Japan's largest Chinatown!
Yokohama (横浜) is the second largest city in Japan by population and it's a quick train ride from Tokyo, making it the perfect destination for a day trip. This is a port city that sits on the shores of Tokyo Bay, and while it has lots to offer in terms of attractions and sightseeing, we were drawn here by the food.
The cool thing about eating in Yokohama Chinatown (横浜中華街) is that you get a unique blend of Chinese food and Japanese food, plus you can also choose between street food and restaurants.
To get to Yokohama we took the Toyoko Line from Shibuya Station (渋谷駅). If you get on the express train you should get to Yokohama in 30 minutes, but we accidentally got on the slow train so it ended up taking over an hour - don't make our mistake!
Here's a list of the foods we tried on our visit to Yokohama Chinatown (横浜中華街):
- Steamed Buns (sweet beef with egg and onions) - ¥500
- Shiu Mai (shrimp and pork dumplings) - ¥380
- Sesame Balls (filled with sesame paste) - ¥310
- Egg Tarts - ¥180
- Spicy Ramen Soup - ¥800
- Mapo Tofu with Rice - ¥1200
- Steamed Panda Buns (matcha flavoured) - ¥320
- Bubble Tea - ¥350
Our one piece of advice for visiting this place is to come hungry! If you want to make the most of your very own Yokohama street food tour, you'll need a big appetite because there is so much food to try. We barely scratched the surface.

Yokohama Street Food Tour | Japan's Largest Chinatown! Transcript:
Alright good afternoon guys. It is time for another street food video. Today we're going to be taking you guys to Yokohama (横浜). It is 30 minutes south from Shibuya station (渋谷駅). So yeah a bit of an excursion for food. Yeah, first time leaving Tokyo and we've brought our appetites.
I didn't really explain why we're going to Yokohama but this is basically home to the largest Chinatown (横浜中華街) in all of Japan and also one of the largest Chinatown's in all of Asia. So perfect place for street food. We're going to have a mix of Japanese street food and Chinese street food.
We have made it to Yokohama Chinatown (横浜中華街). It took us a while to get here.
Yokohama street Chinatown (横浜中華街) is a great place for street food but if street food is not your thing you also have a whole bunch of Chinese restaurants to choose from and a lot of them are buffets so you pay a set fee and then you can eat as much as you want so definitely lots of food options here in Yokohama. This has been great so far. I mean we've only eaten at a couple of places and I'm already loving it.
We have now turned down one of the little side streets here in Chinatown (横浜中華街) and what I find really interesting is that it is not just all street food and restaurants. Down the little side streets we're also seeing like Chinese supermarkets. You have like massage parlors focusing on Chinese medicine and reflexology and you've got souvenir shops. I mean places to buy decorations for your home. And it is just so pretty to walk down these side streets as well because you have the red paper lanterns and the lights are starting to come on because it is late in the afternoon.
I hope you enjoyed our little street food tour of Chinatown (横浜中華街) here in Yokohama (横浜). We had a really fun time just eating so much food. It was delicious. Yeah. I'm leaving here stuffed and I don't feel like we spent that much money. No. That was cool. If you're planning to travel to Japan and you're going to be in Tokyo it is super easy to get to Yokohama (横浜). We'll see you guys in the next video. Bye for now.
