EXPLORING TOKYO'S oldest and historic SHINTO SHRINE (Suwa Shrine), JAPAN
SUBSCRIBE: - Suwa Shrine has long been famous for its big festival, called Nagasaki Kunchi (held on October 7-9 each year), and it is one of the largest in Japan, in terms of both the number of participants and the number of spectators. It has been designated by the government as an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property. The whole neighborhood is filled with people dancing, carrying unusual palanquins, and pulling floats, while the traditional festival chants echo all around.
Japan is an island nation in the Pacific Ocean with dense cities, imperial palaces, mountainous national parks and thousands of shrines and temples. Shinkansen bullet trains connect the main islands of Kyushu (with Okinawa's subtropical beaches), Honshu (home to Tokyo and Hiroshima’s atomic-bomb memorial) and Hokkaido (famous for skiing). Tokyo, the capital, is known for skyscrapers, shopping and pop culture.

Suwa Shrine is the major Shinto shrine in Nagasaki, Japan and home to the Kunchi festival.
There are 277 stone steps leading up to this shrine, but once you reach the top, it is completely worth it with a beautiful view of the shrine and city

The second day of Suwa in Nagano.
I took onsen bath before breakfast, and, of course enjoyed a big breakfast Shinyu offered.
I took a tour which Shinyu offered, Suwa Taisha Meguri, the tour of Suwa grand shrine. As Suwa grand shrine is one of the oldest and famous shrines, I’ve learned many things.
And there is a famous festival, which is Onbashira festival. It’s known as one of the most dangerous festivals in the world!!!
I’ll share about many info in this video!

In order to make it easier for local children to participate, the festival is held every summer in August on the weekend around the 27th, the national holiday of Suwa-jinja Shrines across the country. This is the infamous Akimiya Suwa Taisha, of Shimosuwa. This may look more familiar to those of the Touhou Project fandom as the Moriya Shrine. On the ema (prayer boards) there are many drawings of Suwako Moriya and Kanako Yasaka on them.
