Longyearbyen to Svalbard Airport by Shuttle Bus
Onboard the Svalbard Airport Shuttle Bus, travelling from Longearbyen to the airport. The video shows the journey from the edge of town near the Radisson Blu Polar hotel, passing all the industry on the main road along the waters edge to the airport terminal building, passing the Svalbard Seed Vault and the threshold of Runway 28, as we pull up to the terminal building. The bus picks up from hotels in the town - it is organised by Svalbard Buss og Taxi AS.

Getting to Longyearbyen, Svalbard and overview of Funken Lodge hotel
Flying from Man to Oslo, Oslo to Longyearbyen.
Funken lodge hotel at 14:58 minutes in, in a standard double room.
Overall impression as we was driving up to the hotel in the bus, is that it's a nice sized hotel with a very clean outside, with plenty of parking and space.
Location is update a steep hill out of town which was a bit of a hassle as you couldn't just walk straight into town, it was about a 20 min walk.
Layout of hotel inside is neat and easy to navigate. Floors are carpeted so nothing echoes. Colours are easy on the eye and not all white walls like some hotels.
On the ground floor is a shoe storage room.
To get up and down the three floors there is a lift or a stairs option. Floors located on the ground floor are given for anyone with disabilities.
The Reception is located upstairs and is linked to the bar. You can book excursions here too.
We checked into room 218 a standard double room (floor 2) which was a nice size room and had all the necessities (bathrobes, slippers, vanity kits, TV heating, tea/coffee machine, wardrobe, towels provided).
Room was
Reception workers friendly.
The restaurant Funktionærmessen on the second floor we didn't find good value for money (see other review). The Funken bar on the other hand was good for snacks and hot chocolate.
Service was a bit touch and go depending on who you got..some friendly and some can't be bothered. Chef man was surly but more friendly with others.
Don't think that the wine on top (outside) of the minibar is free or with compliments as when we got to the reception to check out we saw the price for wine on the bill - really bad and should say. Receptionist said sorry when I said it should be clear you pay for it.
Whilst waiting for the taxi the receptionist actually came over after and said she felt bad about the misunderstanding and gave us chocolate and nuts from the bar for free, so that was a good gesture.

The airport has no taxiways, so taxiing on the runway and takeoff heading 010 - following an eastern course along Adventfjord, then turning right and continuing south towards Norway until the Van Mijen Fjord.
Great views of the Hiorth Mountains, and - after the right turn - of Advent Valley (including zoom to Coal Mines No. 6 and 7, the EISCAT Svalbard radar, and Bolterdalen) and of central and eastern Spitsbergen.

Parajumpers Embraces Arctic Beauty For AW19 STORIES Campaign
Parajumpers Stories | Svalbard Taxi Driver WIGGO ANTONSEN
With this first chapter of STORIES, Svalbard and its wonders are beautifully showcased, featuring raw landscapes, tormented waters and waves. In all, these rarely-exposed natural gems provide an extraordinary frame to these brave, (some would say mad), inhabitants who introduce us to their original passions, which will give your audience a stunning insight into life on the edge of the world.
Capturing the everyday life of the unique characters who inhabit the last frontier before reaching the Arctic Circle the voices of Svalbard tell their STORIES of the unrelenting chill, a never-ending white landscape with jarring contrasts of the midnight sun in summer, the Aurora Borealis come winter, the incredible wildlife and soothing echoing silence. To live here, the inhabitants embrace the isolation, the lack of creature comforts and the uncertainty that comes with living in the Norwegian archipelago thanks to its enticing mix of 51 cultures, sense of community, no stress, no crime, and eerie beauty that offers a uniquely colourful and inclusive home.
And, to match the needs required by isolated snowbound valleys ParaJumpers' pushed the technical boundaries to respond to the Arctic's extreme conditions with the new All-Star Fall/Winter 2019-20 collection – a range of men's and women's outdoor garments that fuse technical innovation with traditional Italian craftsmanship.

Lofoten Edit
In May of 2017 two of my friends from Florida visited me in Oslo and from there we took on the Lofoten Islands in the Norwegian arctic. Song is by Towkio ft Chance the Rapper - Clean Up.
For people wondering how to tackle this fairly enigmatic place, here is what I would recommend:
First of all, 68north.com has a ton of info about everything and you absolutely need to look at it before you go... but getting there is still tricky (and may seem overwhelming at first). We chose to fly to Bodø and take a ferry from there to Moskenes. That cost somewhere around 250NOK. Renting a car in Svolvær is by far the cheapest option for cars, so we took a bus from Å (on the southern end) all the way to Svolvær to rent on the second day. The travel planner on 177nordland.no is definitely what you need to find ferry and bus times! Tickets can be purchased on board. After driving around for a few days we took an express ferry from Svolvær to Bodø, twice the cost unless you are a student or senior (so it was ~250NOK for us again). Each boat takes about three hours but they seem to be timed horribly with the Bodø airport schedule, so you do want to plan ahead of time!
Also it might be worth mentioning that Norway is one of the most expensive countries in the world. Taxis will run you a fortune and accommodation is not cheap either! For traveling to Lofoten on a budget be prepared to walk the length of a few towns, and depending on your situation you may want to camp (DURING SUMMER).
If you have any questions at all, please comment or message me and I will do my best to respond! I absolutely 100% recommend a visit here! Thanks for watching :D
